Got Dope?

If you already smoke dope, I think you’ll like this news. If you don’t already smoke dope, you might want to start if you like this news. (Not that I’m encouraging anyone to partake in any illegal activities. After all, who knows what I really mean by “dope”? Don’t ask me!) Now that we’ve gotten that all cleared up, let’s talk about FX and their brilliant idea to order this pilot. Apparently there’s an Australian comedy about a guy and his dog - who is actually a dude in a dog costume with a drawn-on nose. This cult hit is “peppered with profanity, full-frontal nudity and jokes about raping the neighbor’s cat.” So I’m sure you can see how well the Americanized version will work; it will end up with cleaner language, no nudity and probably no real jokes either. What will we be left with? A dude in a dog suit. So like I said, pick your poison.

Here’s a snippet of the original, which can currently be seen on the Independent Film Channel:

The FX version will be adapted, written and executive produced by David Zuckerman (Family Guy). Good luck with that, dude.

I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt because it's FX AND because Zuckerman, who works in the WILDLY successful and quite possibly best animated comedy in the history of television, is on it.

Okay, I'm gonna be honest, this has potential. The premise COULD BE amusing. Plus, FX has been on fire the last couple years with picking great shows.

Let's hope it's better than every other comedy America has ever imported and ripped off that wasn't called The Office

Hehe, Wilfred.

You guys will love it. Oh wait, it's going to be remade? By Americans? To make it FUNNIER!?

...oh dear

Surely there is a better clip then that! Really doesn't give it justice.
I saw my first episode after consuming 2 bottles of wine so it's more a 'pick your poison' situation.

sounds stupid. looks stupid. they'll put after It's Always Sunny and people will only watch because of they're waiting for the Always Sunny rerun and it will fail like the last few shows they tried that with.

Oh man, I need to see more of this. Not remade, mind you, but the original. Must find...

Can someone enlighten me as to why networks do this. Surely it would be so much cheaper to just buy the rights to this little Aussie cult show and air that?

Anyway, check out the original, it's awesome. While your at it check out Outrageous Fortune, another amazing cult show from across the pond.

Outrageous Fortune is a great great show and everyone should see it.

I'm going to hope this turns out to be good.
