Good News Concerning the 'Pitch Perfect' Sequel Makes A Hard Pass Unlikely

Sequels, right? Rarely do they surpass the original and, more often than not, they sully your fond memories of the first. This is why I was wary of the idea for a Pitch Perfect sequel. Would it be the same movie with only tiny tweaks, à la The Hangover 2 and The Hangover 3? Would it have only a tiny thread in common with the original, much like Halloween 3: Season of the Witch?

My fears have been somewhat alleviated with the news that Elizabeth Banks will be producing and directing Pitch Perfect 2. Add to that the return of Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and writer Kay Cannon? I’m no longer nonplussed and now fully optimistic for the probable 2015 release.

I will continue to hope that they do a Cher song.
