Gillian Flynn Says She's Open To a 'Gone Girl' Sequel. The World Says No Thank You

While Gone Girl did leave a somewhat open ending, (some spoilers ahead) not many people are clamoring for a sequel, are they? Nick and Amy had hit rock bottom, ending in such a depressing, hopeless place, most of us don’t want to spend any time watching them actually live there. But Gillian Flynn, the woman who wrote both the novel and the screenplay, says she’s open to it.

There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together, it could be really fun a few years from now. We could pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on — not well I don’t think.

Oh, you know those crazy Dunnes, with all their relationship hijinks. She’s always darning his socks and leaving the needles in; he’s always secretly getting his junk snipped. She’s off poisoning everyone’s food; he’s spending years planning how to kidnap his own son to safety. This marriage is rife with sequel material!

As ridiculous as this sounds, to her credit, Flynn says she’d only do it if it were really the whole “gang.”

I would have to have the exact same people to do it — I would want Rosamund, Ben and Fincher to do it.
Good luck with that, Gillian.
