Let’s have a better look at that header picture, shall we?

For those of you who didn’t get to see his Equus performance, here’s your first look at little Harry Potter all grown up and looking mighty fine. It feels a bit wrong to be lusting after a boy we’ve all watched grow up and yet, who can help it?

But since this is supposed to be a news blip, let me tell you about the actual movie Radcliffe is filming: The Woman in Black. Based on the Susan Hill novel, the film stars our boy Harry as one Arthur Kipps, a young attorney. Kipps is sent to a funeral to settle the affairs of a woman who lived alone in a remote location. He spends several days at the deceased’s home, where he experiences frightening events, uncovers secrets and is haunted by the ghostly titular woman in black. Though on paper this might not sound terribly compelling, apparently the stage version was quite popular and the ending nice and twisty. And after seeing the delicious ghost of a boy who has matured into this hot man, all I can say is (wait for it) Oh Danny Boy!

Groans and vegetable throwing optional.

The Woman in Black is directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake) and also stars fellow HP-er CiarĂ¡n Hinds and Janet McTeer.

Ol' Danny Boy up there looks a little like the love child of Johnny Depp in FROM HELL and Robert Pattinson.

Oh my. He is aging quite nicely out of Potter. My oh my. Oh my.

Posted by: Barnes78 at September 27, 2010 5:38 PM

I actually had the opportunity to see the stage adaptation of this in London roughly 15 years ago. I work professionally in theater - and so I see a lot of plays - but this is one that still sticks in my memory as one of my favorite plays I've seen. I'm very curious to see how it adapts to film!

I don't get it. I have it on good authority that the the sound guy is only 5'2". That makes Harry Potter roughly 3'8" tall. He is a well-formed miniature person, granted, but still.

I would totally wingardium his leviosa.

Oh my god! I saw what I think was a BBC production of The Woman in Black a few years ago and it was AWESOME. Incredibly creepy.

Posted by: A Tiny Machine at September 27, 2010 6:02 PM

Okay, just looked it up. ITV, not BBC, but yes, what I saw was a TV movie. It was fantastic.

Posted by: A Tiny Machine at September 27, 2010 6:04 PM

Right on, Bistro. I saw it in the west end in 2005. It was excellent, so much so I saw it twice, and I was broke as hell. So much of it seems dependent on the ambiance of a dark theater, though; I wonder how they'll work that.

Posted by: Ian at September 27, 2010 6:04 PM

He is...not attractive. No, not attractive at all. In that picture especially, I keep expecting him to pull out his watch and shout, "I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!"

Posted by: Wednesday at September 27, 2010 6:32 PM

Ha, nice, ZombieNurse.

I WOULD feel creepy about wanting to accio Daniel's wand, but let's face it, this is Pajiba, and I'm in good company amongst you perverts.

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at September 27, 2010 6:35 PM

I'd let him Slytherin to my Chamber of Secrets.

(Actually I wouldn't because he looks kind of like Elijah Wood, and Elijah Wood looks kind of like a demon.)

Posted by: penelope at September 27, 2010 6:52 PM

I love you, penelope.

And I love this picture.

And I've heard excellent things about the play.

So I'm just dripping love juice all over this post. Just call me Moaning Myrtle.

Ooh! I saw the play in London about 15 years ago. Creeped me out good. I'm curious to see how they transfer the creep to a movie. Ciaran Hinds--always a plus.

I don't think he's particularly attractive but I'm impressed with how Daniel Radcliffe is building a decent movie career for himself.

Posted by: Abby at September 27, 2010 9:17 PM

At 5'1" I represent the Lollipop Kids and I now openly want to lick Dan Radcliffe.

Posted by: Stacy D at September 27, 2010 9:23 PM

Looks like Radcliffe is still fighting the monster Pubertis to me.

Posted by: Uriah Creep at September 27, 2010 11:01 PM

I hate Susan Hill's books with a burning passion, but my god that boy looks mighty fine. He's kind of like Colin Firth - only attractive when wearing a waistcoat and sideburns.
I may have to watch this on mute.

Posted by: squeeziee at September 27, 2010 11:04 PM

This is so cute! He actually thinks after the HP series is over he'll be able to get work. Aww the ignorance of youth.

Posted by: logan at September 27, 2010 11:25 PM

I don't generally find Danny McSmallperson attractive at all, lovely lad though he is, but he's a got a bit of the Richard Armitage going on in this picture, which has caused my brain to short circuit to RAWR.

Posted by: embertine at September 28, 2010 3:26 AM

Thinks he can get work? Um, hate to break it to you, logan, but in that photo, guess what--he's working. And he's done Equus on stage, twice. And two other movies. He'll be on Broadway all next year. And already has another film set to go after that.

Your condescension is vastly misinformed.

Woman in Black is actually quite an amazing play and made-for-TV film. I've seen both and own the latter. I'm excited to see how it will be updated with a larger budget.

Posted by: The Pink Hulk at September 28, 2010 9:54 AM

I'd like to add, though, that if you get the opportunity, see the stage version. It is infinitely scarier than the film version.

Posted by: The Pink Hulk at September 28, 2010 9:54 AM

He probably is the secret lovechild of Richard Armitage, it's uncanny.

Posted by: Verity at September 28, 2010 10:23 AM

Barbara- We'll see what happens AFTER HP is over. I'm betting he'll fade away rapidly.

Posted by: logan at September 28, 2010 11:58 AM

I feel sooooo dirty right now.

Posted by: Isaphoebe at September 28, 2010 1:12 PM

I went through this with Christian Bale after Empire of the Sun. And now this. Please, little British men, would you stop turning me into a dirty old woman all the time!!

Posted by: autunmwind3 at September 28, 2010 6:39 PM

Pink Hulk, totally agree with you about seeing this on stage. I screamed like a little girl during the you-know-what, and my only defence is that I was actually a little girl at the time.

My dad, brother and burly male cousin had no such excuse.

Armitage's Army is now recruiting and they have the perfect posterboy.
