Spoilers? I suppose? Read beyond the Braavosi fencing master at your peril.

Word has it that the new NEW Daario Naharis, Michiel Huisman, will be promoted to series regular in season 5 of Game of Thrones. So, to recap. This guy, Ed Skrein, the original Daario Fabio Naharis? He’s out.

This guy, the deliciously beard Huisman who you might know from Treme or Nashville or your fantasies about the upcoming season of Orphan Black, is in.

And not just in for a few episodes of season four, but in for the long haul as a regular in season five. What does that mean for the plot? Bejaysus I don’t know. As it is, they’re going to have to stretch things to keep Emilia Clarke’s scenes interesting. A few seasons of Mereen? Spare me. I suppose with increased Daario, well see an uptick in this.

That should keep at least some portion of the crowd interested. What I do know is that either way next season is going to be bad for our favorite knight. I’m not sure I can bear* the heartbreak.

*unintentional, I assure you.

When is the idea of this "friendzone" going to die? Just because you're nice to a female it doesn't mean she owes you shit.
That being said, I feel like a funny kind of 19 year old for finding Jorah so attractive.

  • Brad B

Hopefully, it means much more than just an uptick of dragon boning. My guess is that the character of Daario will take over the fighting parts that would have been for Strong Belwas (Winter Is Coming reports that GRRM revealed SB won't be in the tv series). Will we see a Daario vs. Oznak showdown early in Season 4?

  • Sonny still chasing the dragon it seems.

No no, I got it. It was funny!

Gods, they better do something with Dany's storyline this season that isn't a love triangle. If that's why the changed the whole Arstan Whitebeard thing so that Jorah could hang around and do this stuff, I'm going to be pretty annoyed. Though I guess it can't get worse than her season 2 storyline.

  • Maddy

I'm assuming they changed the Arstan Whitebeard stuff for the obvious reason that in a tv show the audience would recognise that it was Barristan, and it would be really frustrating to have this whole secret identity storyline drag on when we know who he is. So I was cool with it. To be honest, they've really downplayed the whole Jorah-Dany thing from the books which surprises me because it's infinitely less icky in the show because of the actor's ages. I honestly have no idea what they're going to do with Dany this season, but my memory for Dany stuff from the books isn't great.

  • Maddy

On another note, I do hope the show does eventually get to Jorah's backstory properly, because so far I think he just had one offhand mention about his wife once. That story is so sad, and explains so much about his feelings for Dany (even if it's also kind of creepy but whatevs, look at his poor face)

  • zeke_the_pig

How strange of Dany to want to be romantically involved with someone who's not a pseudo father figure double her age.

  • Maddy

Yeah, in the books Jorah's attitude to Dany seriously pisses me off - I'm her loyal knight so she should totally be romantically attracted to me, I don't understand. She doesn't owe you shit dude! And you're sexually attracted to a 13 year old because she looks like your ex wife. Clearly there are no unresolved issues going on here ...

I'm such a hypocrite though, because Iain Glen ... just look at him. Clearly the fact that tv Jorah is much more attractive than book Jorah has influenced my opinion here ...

  • Maddy

The only reason I even like Jorah in the show is because of Iain Glen. No Khaleesi! Look at his poor heartbroken face. This Daario does seem to be an improvement however, although I don't think I can ever like Daario. We'll see.

  • Berry

If somebody really wanted to make sure I never ever watch this show, then associating it with the word "friendzoned" was the way to go. Well done, someone!

  • I swear to the old gods and the new if Jorah doesn't get a kiss this season, I will throw the best wedding Meereen has ever seen.

  • aroorda

Jorahs actual storyline depresses me as much as the Stark storyline or Tyrion being a bada bitch.

  • AngelenoEwok

I feel like he bears (jesus, I swear that wasn't intentional) a large portion of the responsibility for his own misfortunes, but yeah. His story is a big bummer.

    Ser Jorah is so euphoric
