First Official Look at Doctor Who's New Companion: She Is Adorable Squared

That’s Matt Smith’s “Doctor Who,” sporting a new suit, and beside him is Jenna-Louise Coleman, who will be replacing Amy Pond as the Doctor’s next companion. She’s 26. In the British soap opera world, she’s been nominated for Best Actress and Sexiest Female, her character in “Doctor Who” will be named Clara, she is a fast-talker, and she was Connie in Captain America: First Avenger.

Filming is already underway on the 7th season of “Doctor Who,” and Jenna-Louise Coleman will make her first appearance during the Christmas episode after Karen Gillan’s Amy Pond is written out in what I’m sure will be heartbreaking fashion.

    I will, I admit, miss Pond a little (mostly because I am sad anytime a Hot Red Head leaves my screen). I will be extremely relieved if they get rid of that damn opening though. I am at least hopeful it can go back to being the Doctor Who show and not the Amy Pond Story.

    I believe it's currently slated to start airing in November. There will be four or five new episodes prior to the Christmas one.

    I don't care what happens to Amy, it's my poor sweet Rory I'm worried about.
    Something terrible can happen to Amy, he can forget she ever existed, and go find happiness with this new cute companion who is hopefully way less obnoxious than Amy.

    Absolutely anyone would be less obnoxious than Amy.

    Donna Noble would be less obnoxious than Amy, even. But also, notably, Donna Noble was pretty obnoxious and still the best damn companion ever, so really Amy's issues run deeper than being freaking irritating. Probably it's related to the character's apparent lack of an ability to feel empathy with anyone but her own clones/future-huge-asshole-self.

    I like how every single mention of the Ponds' departure from the show tells me how it'll be totally heartbreaking, you guys. At least I'll have a reference emotion to dub in if SM totally shits the bed on it or something (again, for like the third time now).

    I think they might be on Netflix instant. A friend of mine watched all the seasons of Doctor Who on Netflix, and said the only special missing was "Planet of the Dead."
