First Look: The Farrelly Brothers' Three Stooges Look Aghast Upon the World's Indifference

By Dustin Rowles | Posted Under Trade News | Comments (29)

stoogesx-large-header.jpg

Above is our first look at the Farrelly Brothers’ Three Stooges: Curly (Will Sasso), Larry (Sean Hayes) and Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos). And if there was any doubt about the desperation grab from the Farrellys after a decade of growing irrelevance, note that the cast also includes Jennifer Hudson, Sofia Vergara, Larry David as a vindictive nun, the cast of “Jersey Shore,” and the Old Spice Guy. That’s grasping, folks (no offense to Isaiah Mustafa).

Sean Hayes? Goddamn, I thought it was Clint Howard for a moment. As himself.

A steaming turd waiting to be found in a bank of cinematic snow.

From the picture I was sure that Moe was Jim Carrey.

For a second I thought Moe was Colin Farrell (it's the eyebrows).

Me too.

Posted by: Forbiddendonut at October 27, 2011 11:42 AM

I really thought that was Jim Carrey as Moe. :|

Might have helped. I agree with Pete on this one.

For the love of god, why would anyone want to touch the holy grail of comedy that is “The Three Stooges?” I mean you can do a remake of “Malcolm X” and turn it into a comedy and I wouldn’t be all that upset. But how big do your balls have to be to do a remake of the Stooges? The Stooges are like the Vanessa Del Rio of porn, sure, any broad can clean out your pipes. But it takes a special lady to clean out your bank account.

Not one of those men is Jewish. How are they going to wring comedy out of eating crab shells instead of the "filling" if they're not actually Jewish?

Posted by: superasente at October 27, 2011 11:55 AM

They weren't funny then and they won't be funny now.

Posted by: admin at October 27, 2011 11:59 AM

I refuse to read anything on this page or watch the clip. The photo alone was all I needed to figure out that this is awful. Actually the concept was all I needed. Or the cast list. This should have never been done.

You just shut your whore mouth! Right, and Monty Python were a bunch of geniuses.

Posted by: Pookie at October 27, 2011 12:24 PM

Who would win in a free for all battle to the death of comedies wittiest troupes?

Monty Python
vs. Three Stooges
vs. The State
vs. Season 1 cast of SNL
vs. Kings of Comedy

...aaaaaand FIGHT!

Posted by: superasente almost included Broken Lizard, which provoked more laughter than their last three movies at October 27, 2011 12:32 PM

Python wins due to merciless taunting with a french accent.

Posted by: admin at October 27, 2011 12:37 PM

The Marx Brothers win. At everything.

Posted by: dahlia6 at October 27, 2011 1:14 PM

Just when I thought they couldn't possibly be any dumber, they go and do something like this...

and TOTALLY REDEEM THEMSELVES!

Posted by: googergieger at October 27, 2011 1:16 PM

Wow! Chris Diamantopoulos AND Sean Hayes!

WHAT A CAST!!!

No. Just no. I am in denial. Ididnotreadthatididnotseethatthisisnothappeninglalalala

Kids In The Hall would win the fight.

how is that not jim carrey in that pic? did he change his name? was a clone made in a lab?

next, Adrien Brody and James Gandolfini can be Laurel and Hardy, but now it will have a darker grittier edge.

Posted by: idleprimate at October 27, 2011 2:20 PM

The Kids in the Hall would tie with Monty Python. Python had some really clever bits, but Kids were more fun.

And none of the kids have disgraced themselves like John Cleese and Eric 'drag the spotlight from my cold dead hands' Idle.

I never would have thought we would one day be looking back on the original Three Stooges as "highbrow," but I predict that's exactly what this version will accomplish.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at October 27, 2011 3:48 PM

Let's not forget "SCTV" folks. They'd kick SNL's ass.

Posted by: MarkM at October 27, 2011 4:51 PM

I still think it's Jim Carrey. Also, let's throw Fry and Laurie into the arena, too. I loved those guys.

the goldfish channel kicks SNL's ass.

Mad TV had its moments.

Posted by: idleprimate at October 27, 2011 5:16 PM

I think they did remake Malcolm X -- several times, by the look of Tyler Perry's IMDB page.

Me too. Here is a picture of Chris Diamantopoulos:

Jim Carrey was originally cast in this thing and later backed out. I think someone made a mistake and put him in the poster.

Posted by: ed newman at October 27, 2011 10:18 PM

So do we know if this is a straight-up 3 Stooges Movie, or the sorta biopic with the bizarre Larry in love with Moe thing?

Posted by: Protoguy at October 28, 2011 12:53 AM

Ah, no. Unless the IMDB plot is a plant. This will blow.

Posted by: Protoguy at October 28, 2011 12:54 AM
