First the Facebook Movie, Now This

This story has been buzzing around the Internet as a “The Director will be YOU!” kind of “Choose Your Own Adventure” deal. Ridley Scott is producing a documentary about everything that will happen on July 24th 2010. He wants Youtubers to send in their videos of what they did that day and somehow director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) will use the magic of editing to turn it into an actual movie. (And probably sneak Russell Crowe in somewhere).

I guess saying “The Director Will Be KEVIN MACDONALD” doesn’t really pop when you’re presenting a press release. It reminds me of when Time Magazine said the Person of the Year was “YOU!” and they had a mirrored cover. Really? You? For those “hilarious” cat videos you posted?

Which brings me to my problem with “Life In a Day.” They try to bill it as a time capsule but Youtube is all tennis balls to the groin, cat videos and mopey teens. Is the appeal of the movie going to be seeing how many mopey teens get hit in the balls with funny cats on July 24th? Because that’ll always happen. Even when it’s Space mopey teens getting hit by Spacecats in the Spaceballs.

Here’s an idea — let’s get some Pajibans up in this. Get a little snark back in the movie theaters. The link is here. Just think, you could see Admin get hit in the balls. Or see AvB’s cat do the FUNNIEST thing.

I don't have a cat or testicles. Does this mean I'm disqualified?

1. I want to see M. Night Shyamalamadingdong catch a golf ball in the crotch (I would suggest Michael Bay, but he has such a small package it's a hard target to pinpoint).

2. I found an interesting multi-part documentary on prison rape on YouTube. It's not all weirdness.

I watch full classic football matches in 10-minute segments on Youtube. The World Cup final between the Netherlands and West Germany was fascinating. Until the German keeper got hit in the balls with a Dutch kat.

EDIT: 1974 World Cup final

Also, didn't they already do this? It was called Dazed and Confused, I think.
