Don't Buy Creepy Dolls, Dumb Dumbs: The Teaser Trailer for 'Annabelle' Is Here

By Jodi Clager | Trade News | July 17, 2014 | Comments ()

The Conjuring didn’t frighten me the first time I saw it. The second time I jumped out of my skin. Perhaps the least effective part of the film came with the bookends focusing on Annabelle. You know. The creepy doll that is possessed. ALLEGEDLY. She uses crayons and cannot be thrown in the garbage. Sure, the doll is disgusting to look at and should burn in a fire, but it is still a doll.

Produced by James Wan but directed by John R. Leonetti, this is an origin story about a murderous doll. The tone in the trailer seems like a good start but…a doll.

i seriously cannot watch any of these trailers that you all put up, and the ones in the comment. None. These are all terrifying to me. I think, "Oh, it won't be so bad." and I click the play button, and 10 seconds into it, I just stop it, because why would I do that to myself???

That looks like a big tall glass of NOPE

Do you really need that much honey?

THANK YOU! I made sure to check first for this, and I knew the Pajibans wouldn't fail me.

Do you really need that much honey?

we listened to JoCo on a trip down to visit my sister's family last week. "Creepy Doll" is not the earworm you want when you're falling asleep in your niece's bedroom. (fortunately I woke up to a Minecraft sword, and not an actual creepy doll.)

  • manting

Its sad that the Warrens will get even more money from this. Scam artist douche bags.

  • Doll possessed by the evil soul of a murderer huh? Haven't seen that before. coughChild'sPlaycough

  • The Replicant Brooke

    Nope. Fuck off Hollywood.

  • JoeK

    A scary doll? Preposterous.

I find it kinda hard to be afraid of hellspawn I can drop-kick like a soccer ball.

I'm still probably going to watch the crap out of this shameless cash-in because I also have no shame and I can't seem to convince my friends to watch Martyrs with me.

  • PDamian

Ever see "Trilogy of Terror"? It's a 1975 movie with Karen Black. The first two parts were silly, but the third, "The Doll," pretty much wrecked me when I was a kid. Still does.

  • ZbornakSyndrome

Dude. DUDE. Not cool. I had JUST gotten over that goddamn doll.

  • PDamian

    So sorry. (Heh heh)

YES!!! That doll was real horror show.

  • SottoVoce

That freaky little doll haunted my dreams for years.

  • Ryan Ambrose

I just googled it and holy crap am I lucky for having never seen this monstrosity as a kid otherwise I would've been scarred for life. Coulrophobia at an early age was enough for me.

  • ViciousTrollop

I'm going to watch the crap out of this. I have no shame.

  • PDamian

Right behind you in the ticket line. Not that I'm trying to be creepy or anything.

    Shame? I have PRIDE, mofos.

  • Guest

I have no shame. I'd watch the crap out of this. I loved The Conjuring.

  • manting

the conjuring made no sense. It was the ghost of a cousin of a roommate of an uncle of a salem witch? Movie was weaker than clock radio speakers. Also the Warrens are notorious scam artists who prey upon the weak minded and deluded.

  • Altius

I don't know why they stuck with this stupid creative choice...the real Annabelle doll was an over-sized Raggedy Ann doll. Much more insidious.

  • Even Stevens

I'm personally quite happy they didn't turn one of my happy childhood memories into an object of terror
