Diana Trailer: The Movie About Princess Diana and Her Love Affair with "Lost's" Hairless, Dorky Sayid

Movies, television specials, magazine covers, and fan fiction about The Royal Family always makes me kind of sleepy. I appreciate people’s fascination with the Royal Family, but like Jane Austen, costume dramas, and “True Blood,” it’s just not something I share. Alas, not even Naomi Watts can provoke an interest in Diana, the biopic about the affair that the princess had with surgeon Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews) after her divorce with Prince Charles. However, seeing Sayid without long hair, thick stubble, and a muscle shirt is at least interesting for novelty’s sake. How can that even be the same guy?

Apparently, all of his sexiness was in his exposed chest hair.

This guy was the top of my dream cast of Game of Thrones S4's Oberyn Martell and while I'm crushed he didn't do it, at least he's been busy.

Hey now; "The Queen" was a fantastic movie, and well worth seeing. I just watched "The King's Speech" and also thoroughly enjoyed that. There are good films about the royals, though Sturgeon's Law applies there as it does in most things.

It made me feel sorry for her and the surgeon guy.

    I have lots of feelings.

  • Uuuuuuugh. Can't even pretend to care a little bit. And they uglified one of the most beautiful men on the planet? Unforgivable.

  • PaddyDog

    A million upvotes.

  • tjedison

    Holy crap, this looks awful.

Why did they decide to make a movie about this particular point in her life? it would've been WAY more interesting to show her time in the Royal Family. Especially with the whole Camilla thing and the PR shitstorm she created when she and Charles gave those revealing interviews to the press.

  • Fabius_Maximus

Yeah, but that would show the royal family in a bad light. They wouldn't be able to sell such a movie.

  • Derreck

But The Queen with Helen Mirren did show the royals in a bad light. At least when it came to Prince Phillip and The Queen Mother who were annoyed to say the least when they heard Diana had died. I guess it was sort of eclipsed by Helen Mirren's portrayal of the Queen and the complications she faced with Diana's death and her relationship with the press, public and Tony Blair, but a "Princess" Diana movie would've been able to get off the ground.

I think Diana's life was utterly compelling so i just don't understand that with all the stories they could've told, they chose the one about Diana and her barely documented affair with this doctor. Her time in Buckingham Palace would've made for a great movie and Watts would've had loads to work with rather than this blah story.

Diana/Charles/Camilla is a *giant* story on its own or even the public's extreme fascination with her life to the point where it ended up killing her.

I agree, but I think this has the whole thing with 1) Diana coming into her own a little bit with the land mines campaign, 2) the conflict with marrying into a Muslim family, esp. with being the mother of the future King of England and all that, and 3) the fact that she was using Dodi to make Sayid jealous, and it ended up killing her. I think there's more material here than meets the eye.

The Queen made $18 Mio in the UK and Ireland. That seems to be middling. As a comparison, The King's Speech made 70 Mio.

A movie about Diana's life while married to Charles would drag a lot more dirt into the story.

  • Totally agree. This is just boring and sappy.

  • ,

Naomi is a knockout, but she looks nothing like Diana (she's much hotter, actually, but her face is too round, for one thing). I can't buy into it.

  • Az

She's too short; that's what really ruins it for me. And the awful wig.

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

It's just weird. Naveen Andrews needs to always have the long hair and stubble. He's simply awkward without it. Somebody give the man an action franchise where his Lost hairstyle will be appreciated.

  • BWeaves

I will watch this for the jewelry porn.

  • John G.

Does this mean that Diana's life is just another timeline in Lost?

    The ennui...it is palpable.
