No. Don’t recognize the above photo? Maybe this will trigger your memory:

Daisy_Duke_red.jpg

That is Catherine Bach, best known as Daisy Duke from the seminal adolescent fantasy action-comedy, “The Dukes of Hazzard.” She’ll be joining the cast of “The Young and the Restless” come this February. She’ll play Anita, the scheming mother of Chelsea (no idea who these people are).

quit with the disrespect! Very nasty. And to answer your question, yes I recognized her.

bills gotta be paid, rent/mortgage is due....

I've long ago gotten over seeing stories like this. It's harder on them than it is on us. Fame costs, and it never stops costing, and some pay a higher price that others.

They can't all be a guest voice on 'Family Guy'...

Posted by: Nick at January 5, 2012 8:30 PM

What's the problem here? That she looks different than she did 30-ish years ago, or that she's on daytime TV?

Posted by: Angeleno Ewok at January 5, 2012 8:33 PM

I'm going to hope that's just a bad picture and not that her head has been replaced with a watermelon.

Posted by: Tracer Bullet at January 5, 2012 8:33 PM

yeah, what IS the point?

Posted by: gp at January 5, 2012 8:36 PM

A quick googling reveals that she is older than my mom, and her husband committed suicide last year.

This post just seems unnecessarily harsh.

Posted by: Angeleno Ewok at January 5, 2012 8:41 PM

Her husband committed suicide? Ouch. I didn't know that, and now I feel horrible. Damnit. To the Googles for a more flattering photo.

Posted by: Dustin Rowles at January 5, 2012 8:49 PM

I have a question ... is it spelled "damnit" or "dammit"??

Any thoughts ...???

Posted by: handy_man at January 5, 2012 8:52 PM

I read this post and I thought to mybadself, "I bet this is Dustin's work." I scrolled back up aaaaand YUP! Dustin, honestly I love lots of things you write and I love this site but you are kind of a pig.

(That may very well be true, klingonfree, but I always feel immensely remorseful when someone points that out. -- DR)

Posted by: klingonfree at January 5, 2012 8:53 PM

WTF?

i recognized her right away. She aged allright, actually looks about 48 to 50, & not the 57 she really is.

Posted by: Harold ballard's ghost at January 5, 2012 8:59 PM

Klingonfree, Its the warmingglow influence. Its bringing him a little more to the middle (which I am welcoming).

By the way, enjoyed Dustin getting his ass handed to him over there about his Archer post. But this post and the Archer one are showing that the poor dude is burning it at both ends.

And really, considering that her co-stars aren't exactly setting the world on fire...

I mean, Wopat did an extended stint on All My Children about ten years ago, then did Annie Get Your Gun on Broadway with Bernadette Peters (yeah, I know -- who?) then was a replacement Billy Flynn in Chicago on Broadway and multiple stints with the National Tour, then 42nd Street, Glengarry Glen Ross and now Catch Me If You Can.

Schneider, poor bastard, had to endure an unflattering extended arc on Nip/Tuck, a shorter arc on Desperate Housewives, suffered multiple seasons of Smallville. and finally, the ultimate indignity of two guest spots on Hot In Cleveland.

I think Bach, as a wife and mother, shouldn't take too much heat for staying under the radar for the most part over the last twenty-five years.

Posted by: Jerry at January 5, 2012 10:09 PM

Apparently jenny the spambot is really into hats.

Posted by: mswas at January 5, 2012 11:36 PM

I'm sorry, but that is a good-looking woman...she likely can't wear those shorts anymore, but the woman is leaning on 60. she's got nothin' to be ashamed of.

Posted by: matty blue at January 5, 2012 11:44 PM

I suppose if soaps are good enough for everyone's favorite lovable (??) douchebag James Franco, I guess it's good enough for Ms. Bach.

On the upside, she actually still looks like herself (her near 60 year old self, btw) which is more than I can say for, oh, just off the top of my head, Nicole Kidman, who has definitely stopped the clock for the moment but that clock-stoppage has her looking like an unholy union of her Madame Tousseau's wax statue and that "Cat Lady" Jocelyn Wildenstein.

Better to look a tiny bit worse for the wear than to retcon your entire fucking face!

Posted by: VonnegutSlut at January 6, 2012 12:05 AM

I agree with the above posters that say she looks good for her age. At least she isnt like Dick Clark who looked like an orange robot during NYE last weekend.

"That is Catherine Bach, best known as Daisy Duke from the seminal adolescent fantasy action-comedy, “The Dukes of Hazzard.” She’ll be joining the cast of “The Young and the Restless” come this February. She’ll play Anita, the scheming mother of Chelsea (no idea who these people are)."

That's what he wrote, right there. I see nothing nasty, disrespectful, or "unnecessarily harsh" in this mini-article, and most likely Ms. Bach herself appreciates any publicity her hiring generates.

If this is the only thing someone can find to complain about, you have no life.

Posted by: special snowflake at January 6, 2012 7:10 AM

I'm confused. Was this post edited after all the backlash? Because I do not see the nastiness. I didn't recognize her at first. Not for any reason other than I don't believe I've seen any recent pictures of her lately. Was I supposed to read into this more?
I think she looks pretty good. I didn't get the inference of malice here.
For the record, I am happy to see that she's working. From the comments it sounds like she's gone through some rough times.

Posted by: Whorish Mouth at January 6, 2012 7:26 AM

I'm guessing he changed pictures to appease the crybabies. Where is your backbone, Mr. Rowles?

That said, this is news? Where is my Erin Gray update?

Posted by: Greedy at January 6, 2012 9:07 AM

I thought it was Melora Hardin in the header pic.

I'm wondering what the previous picture was...

Posted by: Sara Tonin at January 6, 2012 11:10 AM

I'm still not seeing this alleged "nastiness" in the post. Would someone care to elucidate?

Posted by: Craig at January 6, 2012 11:21 AM

Header pic was changed (thanks!), and post originally ended with, "Spoiler alert, aging is a motherf*****."

Posted by: Angeleno Ewok at January 6, 2012 11:31 AM

right. the original pic was of her looking down at someone, laughing at what she was witnessing. it was just a candid shot that emphasized her chins and made her look crazed.
we ALL of us take unflattering pictures.
it happens.
but the original post *did seem* a bit harsh.

and good on dustin for the edit.

Posted by: gp at January 6, 2012 12:43 PM

And why is her leg red?

Posted by: The Dude. at January 6, 2012 12:44 PM

This shows where my priorities are-my first thought was:ANOTHER %^#@!!! NEW CHARACTER ON Y&R??
The regular cast barely gets airtime!!

Posted by: lil_a at January 6, 2012 1:08 PM

I'm shocked... that Y&R is still a thing that exists.

Posted by: firedmyass at January 6, 2012 2:58 PM

Clearly she's one of the Restless.

Posted by: James S at January 6, 2012 4:01 PM

James S. - I try so hard to be a good person and then I snortfaw (the bastard child of a snort and a guffaw) at your comment. Then I hang my head in shame and wonder if there is any hope for me. I read your comment again and I chuckle and realize that nope, the hope is gone. Sigh.

Posted by: princessbetty at January 6, 2012 11:42 PM

Ah internet irony. A site of lighthearted trolls trolling the head troll because he's too trollish.

Posted by: Protoguy at January 7, 2012 9:06 PM

ps., Her leg is red cuz she's wearing the 70s version of Spanx. Maybe you've seen them on Hooters servers.

Aging is a motherfucker.

Erin Grey looks great! Gil Gerard on the other hand...

Do I get extra points for recognizing her?
