Casting Break: Every Time A New Actor Is Rumored For The Crow Remake, A Gen X-er Utters "Meh"

Tom Hiddleston's time as the rumored new lead for a The Crow reboot was short-lived, wasn't it? Who's the next contestant on "DEAR GOD PLEASE NO DON'T REBOOT IT"? Alexander Skarsgard, the sexiest of all of the Skarsgard brothers. Supposedly Hiddleston just wanted to talk and Skarsgard is the first choice to play lanky Eric Draven for director F. Javier Gutierrez. If The Crow has to have a reboot, and it is looking likely that it will, I'm not totally against Skarsgard playing the lead. I think he can pull off the tender musician and the grief-fueled angel of vengeance with equal aplomb. Plus, he's yummy to look at.

In more delicious man candy news, Michael Fassbender has been cast as the lead in the movie version of Macbeth. Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) will direct the Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff script. The big question here isn't what they'll do with the bloody play on the big screen, but when they'll do it. Fassbender is filming a little movie called X-Men: Days of Future Past and is attached to Genius and Assassin's Creed, while Kurzel is directing Our Kind of Traitor this year.

Quvuenzhane Wallis has been attached to the Annie remake for a while now and we've been wondering who would portray her adoptive father. It seems that Jamie Foxx is looking to step into the role of Oliver Warbucks Benjamin Stacks. Yes, they've changed Daddy Warbucks into Daddy Stacks. Director Will Gluck hopes to have the updated film in theaters December 2014. At least Foxx won't look like a goofwad in Annie.

Oscar nominated Gabourey Sidibe has been announced as the second new cast member for "American Horror Story: Coven." The third season of the FX show also has new star Kathy Bates and returning favorites Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe. There is no word yet on who Sidibe will be portraying, but I hope to hell she's one of the witches. I AM EXCITE!

Last of all, and just because I absolutely adore him, John Krasinski will make a cameo appearance in "Arrested Development." Other actors making appearances are Seth Rogen, Isla Fisher, Conan O'Brien,John Slattery, Kristen Wiig, Ben Stiller, the "Workaholics" crew (Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine, and Anders Holm) Andy Richter, Liza Minnelli, Carl Weathers, and Henry Winkler. Whatever. KRASINSKI!

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

I just have to say this publicly rather than my usual 'pubically'...I love Askars. I would do great and terrible things to his body, but Eric Draven, he is NOT.
Hollywood, hear my cries: NO THE CROW REMAKE. IT IS UNNECESSARY!

  • If they are going to reboot 'The Crow' they should set it in the late 1860's or 1870's and do it as a throwback to those grim old revenge driven Westerns from the '60's and '70's. Hell, the only difference between 'High Plains Drifter' and 'The Crow' is angst and makeup. Well, that and Clint Eastwood > Brandon Lee.

Also, I don't know anything about him personally, but from the movies I've seen him in, Michael Fassbender seems like exactly the sort of dick who would be really good as Macbeth.

I remember Alan Tudyk mentioning that he'll be making a few appearances in Arrested Development when he visited Dubai for MEFCC. I can't find a link or anything but I do remember him mentioning it in passing.

Hey producers of the "Annie" re-make/boot/whatever: remember the last time a beloved classic musical was reimagined with an entirely black cast and culture? Man, "The Wiz" was awesome! Please, please, please cast Diana Ross in the Miss Hannigan role.

For a moment there when I saw the Jamie Foxx's picture I thought you were gonna say something about the Avatar sequel(s). Not that I want it to happen, but what happened to that?

I like Krasinski, but Minelli, Winkler, and Weathers got me a lot more excited in that particular context.

The internet wants me to get nothing accomplished today. Proof: Alexander Skarsgard photos.

Really glad to see Gabourey getting more good roles. I remember when she got her Oscar nomination some bitchy article proclaiming she'd never work again after that movie, and she's proved that very wrong.

According to Sarah over on LaineyGossip Fassy's MacBeth is going to be traditional, meaning 11th century, very, very bloody and - one can only fervently hope - KILTS. Thighs! Thighs of Fassbender! Also lovely language and a gripping yarn by the Bard. But mostly Thighs.

  • BlackRabbit

"Thighs of Fassbender" sounds like an Anchorman curse.

Excellent news. I hate it when they mess with this play. Except James MacAvoy and a pig's head.

  • MrsAtaxxia

They just messed with it. Natalie Portman is going to be Lady MacBeth. Desire to see it just went from Fassbender Thighs to Blarg.

Why can't the Crow remake just die? Staying in perpetual development just keeps creating stories reminding me that Brandon Lee died making the piece of sh*t original. F*cking depressing.

Why does Electro look like the Master Control Program from Tron?

  • Three_nineteen

It looks like Moses to me.

  • MrsAtaxxia

I too wish that they would just give up on the Crow remake. The original is great and Brandon Lee fucking died. Let it go.

Gabourey Sidibe is such a delicious name to say. Every time I say it out loud I feel like I've just taken a bite out of a fresh, warm, soft cookie.
