Hot damn, people! Break out the cherry pie and put on a fresh pot of joe, because Kyle MacLachlan (aka Special Agent Dale Cooper) has signed on for Twin Peaks’ return engagement. The announcement came when MacLachlan made a surprise appearance at Monday’s Showtime’s Television Critics Association press tour.

Showtime president David Nevins confirmed MacLachlan will lead the nine-episode limited series, with further cast announcements to come. David Lynch — who’ll direct every episode — chose 2016 as the “magic number” anniversary to revisit the magical, murderous town where first we met our sludge-slurping hero. Whatever warped events Lynch and co-creator, Mark Frost dream up will be set in present day Twin Peaks, “…providing long-awaited answers and, hopefully, a satisfying conclusion to the series.” As for Showtime, Nevins said he’s “more or less writing checks and leaving them alone.”

A big thumbs up to Coop’s updated file photo:

Now drink up, and get yourselves ready for a rewatch — before the series’ 2016 return!

Me; I’m just gonna do a little dancing.
