Biz Break: Eva Green Is Moving To Sin City And Barbarella Is Moving To Your TV Screen

That's right, kids. The famed femme fatale of Ava Lord has been cast for Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For, and she will be played by the delicious Eva Green. The news also comes with actual names for the other actors in the film:

That cast includes original cast members Academy Award® nominee Mickey Rourke as "Marv," Jessica Alba as "Nancy," Bruce Willis as Hartigan, Rosario Dawson as "Gail" and Jaime King as "Goldie/Wendy" with new cast members Academy Award® nominee Josh Brolin as "Dwight," Joseph Gordon-Levitt as "Johnny," Dennis Haysbert as "Manute," Christopher Meloni as "Mort," Jeremy Piven as "Bob," Jamie Chung as "Miho," Ray Liotta as "Joey," Juno Temple as "Sally," and Julia Garner as "Marcy."

I have been waiting for this sequel for a very long time and I am looking forward to October 4th. I'll just grab a book and sit on my porch until then.

Barbarella is being adapted for the small screen. Probably. I mean, it's been rumored as a movie remake before and those never happened. This time Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) is involved and Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Skyfall) have been brought in to write. Barbarella, if you don't know, is about the title character traveling from planet to planet, sexing up and whatnot. If this trio can actually get interest in their project, I would suggest going for cable, Amazon, or Netflix. Wouldn't you?

Finally, "The Powerpuff Girls" are returning to Cartoon Network. Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup will be CG characters in this new version of the show that is a show that used to be on but now it is not on until it will be on which is later this year is when the show that was on will be on again.* A new character played by Ringo Starr, Fibonacci Sequins, will be joining the Girls in the special. Note I said special and not new series. Sad face goes here. Several sites are running this image as the updated look of the Girls.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

I wondered for a second about the recasting of Manute, and then I remembered that Michal Clarke Duncan died and lowered my head in tear-induced sadness.

And for the ones who start bitching about Dwight being re-casted, read the fucking comic and you'll realize there's a valid reason for it. I for one are FUCKING PSYCHED this is coming out.

    At least they aren't 3D I guess

  • Dave Dorris

First, if Eva was actually the third choice, as has been reported, I say WTF is Rodriguez thinking?
Second, The Barbarella thing has to be on Starz.

  • Viking

One can only hope that a Barbarella series is completely and totally different from that train wreck of a movie. That thing was at least seven different kinds of awful.

  • MissAmynae

Daddy ended up with 3 girls: a brunette (me), a redhead and a blonde. We are the Powerpuff girls, personalities included, and he is The Professor. My husband is Mojo Jojo. This Halloween, it will finally happen.

  • Fabius_Maximus

After the shitshow that was the first Sin City, no amount of hotness will save the sequel.

  • Sara_Tonin00

What if...Eva Green played Buttercup in a live-action set-in-the-future Powerpuff Girls?

(at any rate, thank you Powerpuff Girls. I am marking my calendar so that I remember to be the oh-so-awesome Buttercup for Halloween this year)

Barbarella should obviously be on Showtime or Cinemax. If handled properly (no pun intended) it could actually be a pretty fun show. And there could be Duran Duran cameos.

  • Elizabeth Gorman

Or at the very very least, Duran Duran's song "Electric Barbarella" played in the closing credits.

  • Sara_Tonin00

tv does not have that much imagination. It will be the opening credits. (and hell, Barbarella may be a robot because of it)

  • jthomas666

I only hope that the powers that be have the good sense never to put Eva Green on screen at the same time as Carla Gugino. Male genitalia worldwide would explode.

  • Uriah_Creep

    Male genitalia worldwide would explode.

I don't really see the problem: that's what they're designed to do.

  • LibraryChick

True, but I wouldn't want to be part of the theater clean-up crew for that explosion.

  • Drake

Yay Power Puff Girls! Let's hope that the special leads to a new series.

  • Fibonacci Sequins

I laughed way, way too hard at this. It sounds like a drag queen!

  • Natallica

If it IS a drag queen and played by Ringo Starr, it could be the best thing since, I don't know... the Big Bang?

  • ed newman

    Best name ever.

  • Sara_Tonin00

This is an amazing, amazing name. It did made my day. Though in my head the character's played by Mick Jagger...

  • WonderDoll

Most excellent Mojo Jojo commentating styles, blogging media reporter person!

  • Natallica

Hi, Eva! How are you doing? What? What are you telling me? That you want me to go lesbo and be your girl? Well, that's a little fast. No, I'm not saying that I don't like you!. It's just that... well, ok. Let's buy an engagement ring like right now.

  • Blake

Infinite Up-votes for casting Eva Green.

    No Devon Aoki as Miho?

  • Pinky McLadybits

Devon Aoki is knocked up and unable (unwilling?) to reprise her role.

  • MissAmynae

    dammit. dammit. dammit. Stupid ovaries.

  • Blake

Chung isn't a terrible choice but she's not Aoki. I guess Brenda Song was unavailable (since there are only like 5 asian actresses who seem to get any work in Hollywood (Liu and Park already have jobs with CBS and Ellen Wong with CW). Only Liza Lapira is left.

  • LibraryChick

Surely Hollywood realizes there are several Asians who would be willing to migrate for work, and plenty of them speak English more eloquently than the family of Honey Boo Boo?

  • Sara_Tonin00

    Kelly Hsu?

  • Blake

Yes her too and Ming-Na Wen. Linda Park is another. So yes there is more that five but it is still the same 7 or 8 actresses.

  • God Of Bal-Sagoth

Wait. Waitwaitwait. There are actually people who think that Devon Aoki is a good actress? Really? For seriously real? Because while she may be quite attractive, she's awful. I fail to see why this is an issue.

  • Blake

Great actress or even a passable one? Devon Aoki is neither. She is however incredibly hot so I can overlook her acting shortcomings.
