Snow White and the Huntsmen.

Posted by: Forbiddendonut at October 6, 2011 12:04 PM

Add me to the Snow White and the Hunstman group. Also, that's Lily Collins as Snow White, not Lily Cole.

Posted by: beckster at October 6, 2011 12:07 PM

Can I pick neither? I pick neither.

Posted by: PerpetualIntern at October 6, 2011 12:07 PM

Snow White and the Huntsman. Kristen Stewart's evil is lesser than Julia Roberts' evil.

Posted by: Lake at October 6, 2011 12:09 PM

Snow White and the Huntsman. You lost me at Julia Roberts. Ew.

Posted by: Pinky McLadybits at October 6, 2011 12:10 PM

I looked through all those pictures of Julia Roberts (who automatically disqualifies Snow White) to find a Sean Bean picture and am rewarded with...a picture of Nathan Lane?

Neither Snow White is prettier than either evil queen.

(Someone tell if there is something grammatically wrong with the above sentence - I can't tell.)

Posted by: Three-nineteen at October 6, 2011 12:10 PM

Oh, my.

I thought I'd birth a tsunami from my sphincter before I'd ever say this, and yet.

Give me dead-eyed K. Stew or give me death. From these photos, Snow White and the Huntsman looks country miles better than the other.

Posted by: sardonicynic at October 6, 2011 12:10 PM

Sadly Snow White and the Huntsmen. However another role to add to Boromir's death reel is plus..so the other movie has that going for it

Posted by: Luke at October 6, 2011 12:12 PM

Both look AWFUL. I wouldn't see either on a dare.

Posted by: jimbob at October 6, 2011 12:16 PM

Lily Collins is in the second Snow White movie; not Lily Cole.

Lily Cole was the enchanting beauty from The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnasus. I know this because I promptly googled her and commited her to memory after that movie.

Okay, during that movie.

In the theater.

What?

Posted by: superasente at October 6, 2011 12:16 PM

Yeah, I think Snow White & the Huntsman will be a better movie.

But.

Armie Hammer. That is all.

Posted by: Samantha at October 6, 2011 12:16 PM

Neither set of pictures gives me much hope. This is really a question of math.

Awesome (McShane)-Suck (Stewart)Awesome(Bean)-Suck (Roberts)

Even Euclid couldn't have figured out a proof for this one.

Posted by: ed newman at October 6, 2011 12:17 PM

This is tough...I love Tarsem Sigh so so much. And I hate Julia Roberts so so much. Desicions!

Posted by: Miss Beca at October 6, 2011 12:18 PM

I birthed a tsunami from my sphincter once. Damn food poisoning.

Posted by: Pinky McLadybits at October 6, 2011 12:18 PM

Tarsem wins it for me by a mile, even if I am the only one.

Posted by: Nat Kittyface at October 6, 2011 12:18 PM

Snow White and the Huntsman. The inclusion of Julia Roberts and exclusion of Dinklage automatically disqualifies the second spawn of Satan.

Posted by: admin at October 6, 2011 12:21 PM

Damn it. The greater than and less than signs disappeared from my comment. I blame Rowles.

Posted by: ed newman at October 6, 2011 12:22 PM

You promise Armie Hammer and Sean Bean and then deliver neither.

I choose neither as well.

Posted by: pem at October 6, 2011 12:23 PM

You and me Kittyface.

We're talking about Kristen Stewart in a suit of armor on a horse vs. Tarsem. And he brought dwarves. Before Dinklage there was Willow. Before that there was Time Bandits. Respect your height-challenged elders.

Posted by: D-Day at October 6, 2011 12:29 PM

Snow White and the Huntsman does look much more interesting, though I have a hard time believing that Charlize Theron needs anyone to reassure her that she is the fairest of all... I mean, c'mon. But maybe in this she is looking for reassurance that she is baddest of all. Still, that is given, no? She is clearly the baddest.

I do buy Julia Roberts as more evil though, obvs.

Posted by: Hattie at October 6, 2011 12:29 PM

Stewart is a tranny Snow White. Those man-shoulders are offputting. Her version is a rip off of Lord of the Rings + Robin Hood (with Russell Crow)+ Jean D'Arc. In what universe is she prettiert than Charlize Theron.

Posted by: hehey at October 6, 2011 12:32 PM

i like the colors of tarsem's, but chris hemsworth is like rock to armie hammer's scissors.

Posted by: janellest at October 6, 2011 12:40 PM

Her version is a rip off of Lord of the Rings + Robin Hood (with Russell Crow)+ Jean D'Arc

Not that I give a shit about either movie, but I don't think that, if you're listing that many movies, you can call it a rip off anymore.

Regardless, your argument is invalidated by your stupid, shitty "tranny" remark.

Posted by: Ghisent at October 6, 2011 12:43 PM

Kristen Stewart looks like Link, minus his hat, in her character poster.

Posted by: PissBoy at October 6, 2011 12:47 PM

Um, WHAT? Maybe Singh doesn't know what a "dark twist" looks like but FYI, it doesn't look like a Disney cartoon. Both look terrible, honestly. I'm NOT intrigued by the idea of Snow White in armor, too reminiscent of that terrible Alice in Wonderland remake. No way would Charlize Theron be threatned by Kristen Stewart and she Would have a prince that creepy looking wouldn't she?

Posted by: valerie at October 6, 2011 12:47 PM

I'm not interested in seeing either of them. It seems to me that trying to put a "twisted" spin on Snow White is a bit like coals to Newcastle, isn't it?

How much more twisted can this storyline be? A young girl's stepmother is so jealous of her that she orders her to be put to death in the forest whereupon she runs away and stumbles upon 7 little men living in a tiny cottage in the forest, proceeds to move in with them and stays there for YEARS until she finally succumbs to her mother's evil and eats the poisoned apple. The 7 little guys put her body on display in a glass coffin where it stays for more years until a handsome prince comes along to save her. That storyline is already whack!

No interest in seeing Stewart try to act her way out of a paper bag. But then again . . . Julia Roberts. Eh--won't even bother to rent or stream.

Posted by: NeoCleo at October 6, 2011 12:48 PM

You forgot the Tim Burton version: A dark twist on the classic fairy tale where Snow White has scissors for hands.

Snow White and the Huntsman takes it for me by about a mile. I think Kristen Stewart actually looks pretty good.

Posted by: Socrates_Johnson at October 6, 2011 12:48 PM

Tarsem Singh! But Snow White and the Huntsman looks kinda badass. But Kristin Stewart's 'acting' is going to be painfully bad. But that gives a(nother) good excuse to just watch Chris Hemsworth the whole movie. But Tarsem Singh! But Julia Roberts' 'acting' is going to be painful as well. But Tarsem Singh!
I am conflicted.

Posted by: BiblioGeek at October 6, 2011 12:49 PM

Neither...I'll stick with Snow White A Tale Of Terror.

Posted by: buell at October 6, 2011 12:51 PM

The first one looks definitely stupid and the second one looks like it wants to be stupid, but keeps more familiar elements that make me want to actually call it a Snow White story ("darker" takes of both notwithstanding). The second one definitely shows signs of being ridiculous, but the first one is patently ridiculous at its core.

So...a non-committal, second-leaning neither-ish?

Posted by: coryo at October 6, 2011 12:55 PM

Huntsmen, but it might end up looking like a barely-recognizable reimagining of the story a la Russell Crowe's "Robin Hood" prequel, which was basically a good guy fighting a bad guy, for the people, with arrows. Huntsmen could turn out to be a girl, a prince, and a mean stepmom.

Posted by: sars at October 6, 2011 12:55 PM

How in the hell did Sean Bean end up in the colorfully bright Snow White and not the gritty, battle-intensive film where he would likely meet a bloody but ultimately noble and/or sacrificial death?! Did he mistakenly show up at the wrong set, and no one bothered to correct him?

Tarsem wins it for me by a mile, even if I am the only one.

Definitely not the only one. He's even made me curious enough to want to see the upcoming Immortals.

Posted by: branded at October 6, 2011 1:02 PM

Queen: Mirror, mirror on the wall,
who acts the most evil of them all?

Mirror: Well technically, since you phrased it that way, your stepdaughter is incapable of expressing emotion. That seems like a pretty evil charach-

Queen: -Fine. Who's the most reviled in all the land, then?

Mirror: Are you kidding me? With that whole lip biting thing? That bitch is annoying.

Posted by: Paultera at October 6, 2011 1:08 PM

Can I take neither and just go with the Snow White:
A Tale of Terror with Sigourny Weaver, that no one saw in the 90's but was kinda good.

Posted by: Rowen at October 6, 2011 1:17 PM

dudes... seriously?! how is there even a debate about this?

that second one has midgets in it.

midgets for the win. always.

Posted by: causaubon at October 6, 2011 1:22 PM

I'll go with the second.

My decision is supposed to be based on the posters, right? The first poster for Hunstmen says Kristen Stewart on it so that obviously disqualifies it.

Posted by: MissRos at October 6, 2011 1:24 PM

This makes me really sad.

Snow White aaaaaa--no I can't say it. Huuuuu--no. I can't fucking say it!

It would actually be pretty cool to see Julia Roberts play someone absolutely crazy, dark, and evil in a really cheery way. But...she bother's me too much. Same goes for Stewart. I won't willingly see both. Odds are that I will end up watching it. And probably in a theater.

Posted by: Candee at October 6, 2011 1:30 PM

The Huntsman seems to be taking itself much more seriously which is appropriate because Kristen Stewart only ever plays sullen.

Singh me!

Posted by: shawnp at October 6, 2011 1:38 PM

Snow White and the Huntsman, though it must be noted that I will be rooting for the Queen.

Posted by: jthomas666 at October 6, 2011 1:45 PM

Why was I thinking that Viggo...MY Viggo, was in The Huntsman one? And I was WRONG. I got served yet again because there is NO Viggo. So, while Julia Roberts insures I will never, ever see that Julia Roberts one, I may not see the other one either, even if my daughter begs, because I am just that evil...and Kristen Stewart blows big chunks of ennui.

Posted by: klingonfree at October 6, 2011 1:48 PM

If Sean Bean is the King, he's only going to be in the first 30 seconds of the film. So...not much of a draw there. 30 seconds of Bean is not enough to nullify an entire movie's worth of Roberts.

How does Kristen Stewart manage to look angsty and dead-eyed in armor? Fuck, if you're going to prepare for potentially mortal combat, you should at least look like you're not listening to Morrisey on your iPod under the helmet.

Posted by: Wednesday at October 6, 2011 1:59 PM

Neither.

(Would my Pajiba card be revoked if I just said MEH?)

Posted by: MM at October 6, 2011 2:03 PM

That picture of Snow White with the dwarves reeks of Time Bandits! I love it. I got with Tarsem. I can get over Julia Roberts by admiring the gorgeous cinematography from Tarsem and F 'IN MIDGETS! THEY'RE FILMING MIDGETS!

Posted by: dna at October 6, 2011 2:11 PM

Which one looks better? The one not starring Kristen Stewart. Because fuck her.

Posted by: Jeff in Middletucky at October 6, 2011 2:14 PM

Snow White and the Huntsman does look much more interesting, though I have a hard time believing that Charlize Theron needs anyone to reassure her that she is the fairest of all...

This is actually a fair point, because Kristen Stewart could enter my room in a bacon dress with a vial of no-AIDS medication, a get out of jail free card, the secret location of El Dorado, that golden owl from Clash of the Titans, the head of Robert Pattinson on a pike, and a legal promise not to appear in any movies or TV ever again,

And I'm still taking Charlize Theron. All damn day.

Posted by: D-Day at October 6, 2011 2:24 PM

Yeah, but what happens when Theron tells you to eat shit?

Posted by: Ghisent at October 6, 2011 2:28 PM

You have no idea how much the fiery blast of JR hate warms my shriveled little heart.

Posted by: , at October 6, 2011 2:36 PM

I assume, Ghisent, that one would start eating.

Posted by: Socrates_Johnson at October 6, 2011 2:40 PM

I know people who worked on Tarsem's Snow White and apparently there is a chance Sean Bean might not might final cut, as he wasn't all that great... Also, there are midgets in Snow White and the Huntsman too (although, these DO have a whiff of Time Bandits, which is obviously amazing).

Posted by: Itmustbebunnies at October 6, 2011 2:41 PM

News to me thanks to this post: there are two upcoming Snow White projects. I think I can go my whole life without watching either one.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at October 6, 2011 3:11 PM

That said, I am a little surprised so many of you are basing this on Stewart vs. Roberts as opposed to Tarsem vs. Sanders. At least I know Tarsem can put something interesting things on the big screen. This is Sanders' directorial debut. Of course, the directors don't appear in the images, but you can tell there is a little Tarsem visual panache therein, even if that's way too many bright colors for me.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at October 6, 2011 3:15 PM

Sadly, that does not look like Tarsem's usual visual feast of different beautiful inspirations mixed together. And I love the vibe of Snow White and the Huntsman, so... that one.

Posted by: Sassafrass Green at October 6, 2011 3:57 PM

All I got from this is that Chris Hemsworth looks like he is not going to age pretty.

Posted by: duckandcover at October 6, 2011 4:52 PM

Snow White and the Huntsman: coming to a Hot Topic near you!

Posted by: LaRhue at October 6, 2011 5:09 PM

Snow White and the Huntsmen looks like they're looking to add some gravitas to the story, which if done incorrectly can just come off as boring, especially since everything has gray tones to it. The other one looks like they're going completely over the top, particularly in the outfit for the Queen, which means that even if it's bad it could be hilariously so... So I guess I'd have to say that one just in terms of what's more likely to entertain.

Posted by: Jessica at October 6, 2011 5:19 PM

I can't

boobs...
uh,

Posted by: Trey_Shacksit at October 6, 2011 5:24 PM

I love fairy tales, and I love re-tellings of fairy tales. The latest spate of quasi-feministic re-tellings wherein the princess is suddenly badass has actually left me a bit disappointed. I feel like the characters -- and actresses -- don't believably pull off the warrior chick persona. Instead of being brutal and strong, they tend to come off like kinda bland regular girls with pointy things.

...that's a long way of saying that Sansa Stark needs her own movie.

Posted by: Donut Plains at October 6, 2011 5:36 PM

ACK!!!! Not Sansa! Arya!
Crap.

Posted by: Donut Plains at October 6, 2011 5:39 PM

I'm with buell and rowen. Snow White, a Tale of Terror is brilliant.

Snow White is an annoying little shit, and her and her dad treat her stepmother in a way that I can understand why she went a little nuts and despised the child. The 'dwarves' was a great twist and it was a proper fairy tale, the way they used to be.

The two above, I call meh on them.

Posted by: noo at October 6, 2011 6:24 PM

Going with The Huntsman. Hemsworth looks pretty badass.

Posted by: Dave at October 6, 2011 6:28 PM

You know what they look like? They look a lot like "Why the fuck is named Snow White?"

Posted by: Protoguy at October 6, 2011 6:53 PM

You know who I think the coolest people are? The people who won't pick one because they are so very far above both of these movies. Sure, they could have just not read the post or not bothered to comment, but they did.

I'm not trying to be funny or anything. i really think you guys are quite cool.

Posted by: Pfft at October 6, 2011 7:51 PM

Neither...I'm with the other three. Snow White, a Tale or Terror is the best. No need to make another one.

Posted by: Trevorsmom at October 6, 2011 7:56 PM

* OF. a Tale OF Terror.

shouldn't be typing when I'm this tired.

Posted by: Trevorsmom at October 6, 2011 7:57 PM

The Huntsman. Because Hemsworth is delicious.

Also Julia Roberts is fucking terrible.

Posted by: Figgy at October 6, 2011 10:52 PM

I'm for whichever one has Tim Curry in it. He's always awesome as the Evil Queen.

Posted by: BierceAmbrose at October 6, 2011 11:27 PM

Snow White and the Huntsmen.

Julia Roberts? Are you fucking kidding?

Posted by: kiz at October 7, 2011 12:41 AM

The former looks like a fairly embarrassing re-interpretation that will aim for some kind of in-between audience and fail awkwardly. I don't know a lot of people who want Snow White to be this.

The latter looks like a cartoon brought to life. It will probably be sneered at, but has a greater audience waiting for it.

Posted by: Grafty at October 7, 2011 6:09 AM

Snow White and the Huntsman looks more interesting.

Posted by: John at October 7, 2011 6:24 AM

Charlize will never have to worry about a rival for Fairest of them all in Sullen-faced Stewart. KStew can't act her way out of a paper bag, and she has to be propped up in this travesty by 2 men, Thor and the guy from POC4, the same way she's propped up by 2 guys in the Twilight movies. She never been able to carry a film on her own, every single one of her indies have been massive flops.

She sure won't be able to attract ticket buyers by doing a crossover of LOTR and Braveheart. The script had to be rewritten 3 times, and Viggo and Hugh Jackman both ran away from this as fast as they could. Big budget and a first time director? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Posted by: Capricorn at October 7, 2011 6:46 AM

At least Lily Collins looks like a girl, and her Snow White looks like fun. You can put Kristen in a low cut dress but there just isn't much to look at. Comparing these two movies is like apples and oranges. One is bright and sparkling and the other is dark and dreary.

They tried to make Kiera into a warrior princess and that failed miserably, Crowe's Robin Hood was pathetic, and although The Huntsman is trying very hard to borrow from LOTR, it doesn't cut it for me.

Posted by: Leighton at October 7, 2011 6:55 AM

I don't know, at least Tarsem Singh has proven himself as a director. I don't trust these commercial directors with no experience being thrown into something way over their heads. They fucked up Tron, and a piece of my childhood died (see also Transformers, even though I suppose Mikey Bay technically has a few movies he's slaughtered before that).

Posted by: joelboy at October 7, 2011 11:43 AM

SWATH, no a contest. The other movie with no name (or is it just Snow White now? hmm) looks and sounds dumb, like a glorified version of Glee with dwarfs and bird costumes. If SWATH is anything like LOTR or Gladiator it will kick Julia Robert's as* Just check out Rupert Sanders work. He's a genius.

Posted by: Kary at October 7, 2011 9:48 PM

It's a simple matter of who you hate more: Kristen Stewart or Julia Roberts.

...my brain just broke.

Posted by: ShagEaredVillain at October 11, 2011 3:54 PM

SWatH annoys me. Just because it looks dark doesn't mean it will feel dark, I find too many directors like to paint the tone of a film with a dark brush but the script and acting don't deliver. For me it comes off as trying too hard but a trailer would be much better for basing an opinion. Also, I don't think I have seen a single film where KS does anything that resembles acting.

I like the art direction of the other SW but from what I hear it is supposed to be more family oriented. It would be nice if it had a serious plot to contrast against the look of it. I have faith in Tarsem Singh, but I wasn't expecting a children's film and have no desire to go see one.

What's with all the Julia Roberts hate though? I don't personally think she is all that bad. You'd think from some of the comments on here that she punches babies in her free time.
