A-Team, ASSEMBLE!

Well, The A-Team is now fully assembled, for whatever that’s worth. We’d already announced that Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces) is directing. Now, Sharlto Copley, cashing in on his outstanding starring performance in District 9, has been cast as the final piece of the puzzle, “Howling Mad” Murdock. Incidentally, did anyone realize just what an impressive makeup job they did on him in District 9? Here he is in the film:

And here he is in real life:

I mean, wow.

Anyway, here is your final team:

Hannibal — Liam Neeson
Templeton “Faceman” Peck — Bradley Cooper
B.A. Baracus — Quinton “Rampage” Jackson
Murdock — Sharlto Copley

Also, Jessica Biel, fresh off of embarrassing herself with the putrid Powder Blue, is in talks to play the female lead, who will be an ex-girlfriend of Faceman’s. Oh, Jessica. You’re lovely, you really are. And you’re incredibly fit, and love dogs, which I respect. But… you’re not much of an actress.

Then again, it’s the fucking A-Team.

Yeah, Biel's kind of crapped away all the goodwill she earned after her performance in The Illusionist. That ass of hers doesn't seem to have any off days, though.

Wow is right with regards to Sharlton Copley. He's actually not dorky-lookig at all. Dare I say, he's actually good-looking. As for Jessica Biel, she is extremely pretty....but she looks so old! She's approximately my age, I'm 27, but she looks like she's in her mid-30s. What is up with that? Is it her makeup? Hair? Bone structure? I can't figure it out.

Jeepers, mid-30s is "so old"? Thanks, kid!

Besides, seen Lohan lately?

I don't mind the casting for The A-Team. Rampage actually has a pretty big personality and Copely is just, well, awesome. Plus, I would really like to nibble on Jessica's booty. I'm just putting that out there.

admin,
Get in line, buddy.

Ha, I'm sorry Jay! That was extraordinarily bad wordin on my part. And my spelling was pretty awesome, too. You may entreat Godtopus to smite me. I meant to write "so much older than she really is." We all know why Lohan looks like she's in her 50s, but Jessica Biel? From what I read her lifestyle is pretty healthy, so I dunno......

Dammit, still can't fucking spell. Stupid iPhone. I'm on a roll today....

Damn. I was actually looking forward to maybe seeing Jim Carrey in this movie. I felt he had the proper "batshit insane" appeal.

But Powder Blue was awflesome!

No. I can't even pretend. It was so horrible. So, so horrible. It's not her fault, though.... She can't get any good roles because she's so beautiful!

Lets take a moment to commend Hollywood for picking up Copley in record time. I wonder how awkward his American accent will be...

Wait ... that's Jessica Biel up there? I thought it was Pia Zadora.

Oy! No, Sharlto, no! Hollywood will ruin him.

But I guess he deserves a payday as much as anyone else.

AvB, awflesome (with that spelling) is my new favorite word.

Posted by: MM at September 17, 2009 12:18 PM

Haha! I stole it from Barney Stinson, MM, and totally made up the spelling.

Posted by: Anna von Beaverplatz at September 17, 2009 3:15 PM

It seems like most Brits & Aussies, (with a few exceptions) don't have too much trouble with a neutral american accent. I wonder how a Sarf Efrican is going to do.

I hope he doesn't try to make it southern. Everyone butcher's the southern accent. I'm a southerner and it really irritates me.

I'm not sure Hollywood has the effects technology to recreate the staples from the TV series, such as a car flipping sideways the exact same way every time, or bullets pockmarking the ground all around a villian without ever hitting him.

I wonder if they'll have cameos by the original actors. I can just see it now:

Dwight Schultz ('Howling Mad' Murdock) as a fellow inmate at the asylum with Sharlto Copley

Mr. T as a coach at the gym where Quinton “Rampage” Jackson works out

Dirk Benedict as Bradley Cooper's conman dad

And one of George Peppard's old cigar butts as the only part of this movie that doesn't stink.

Sharlto Copley is gonna kick ass as Murdock...watch my words!
Reliable source has it that he blew the casting team away with his amazing array of accents during the screen test...so don't worry about that part of it...he's apparently been doing accents and wacky impersonations since he was a boy!
so go figure...
