Are You Snow Blind Enough to Watch This?

Hey, Northeasterners? How are you coping with the extra vacation day? Are you staring out your window, putting off the snow shoveling as long as possible (look! There’s another snowflake. No use getting started until the snow is finished). Are you reading this from your new home, the Airport? And more importantly, are you wearing pants? I know I’m not.

I can’t really make your day any better for you, but I can give you the teaser for Paula Abdul’s new CBS show, “Live to Dance,” which premieres next week. I could’ve sworn that Simon Cowell took Abdul out behind a woodshed and put two in her temple, but apparently she lives, although she could easily be mistaken for a female Bernie.

Here’s that teaser, though. I’m not sure what the point of this is. Don’t we already have “Dancing with the Stars,” and “So You Think You Can Dance, Dance Revolution?” and half a dozen other dance shows on various cable channels? I guess the good news is that, with this, and “The X-Factor” and word that NBC is putting out their own version of “American Idol” is that, in a year or two, there’ll be so many of these that they’ll own topple in on each other, like a precarious Angry Birds screen. Paula Abdul will play the role of the exploding bird.

Damn it! I can't see it on the iPhone. Boo being at work, but I like holiday pay.

Anywhoo, if it's a choreographed dance show like SYTYCD, I'm so there. I unabashedly love these shows, you just need compelling personalities combined with actual dance skills and it's on.

Also, I miss Paula. I liked watching the contestants trying to decipher what she was saying.

I think that looked like a fun show. I don't get tired of the dance shows like I do the singing ones.

If there's one thing Paula Abdul knows, it's dance. I'll be watching. It's the first free for all dance contest on TV. Any size group, any genre, any age, and any size can compete. Paula loves crazy people, too, so at least one really bizarre dancer/group will go a long way in the contest for doing something different.

Just knowing that somehow somewhere one person will tune in makes me want to put two in my own temple right now.

"If there's one thing Paula Abdul knows..."

There isn't.
