Alison Brie, Go Buy a Low Cut Blouse: "Community" Has Set a Return Date (Updated)

The hiatus is no more. Dan Harmon tweeted that “Community” is set to return to its old time slot, Thursdays at 8:00, effective March 15 (that’s in 3 weeks).

Where will the rest of the schedule go? Who cares (well, actually, as long as “Parks and Recreation” doesn’t get the shaft). My guess is that they’ll play musical chairs with all five sitcoms on Thursday nights, at least until viewers get so exhausted with the musical chairs that they give up. Or they could try that crazy three-hour sitcom block they tried last year. Or maybe they’ll do us the kindness of axing “The Office” to make room.

I do feel bad for Harmon. After so much outpouring of affection for the show over the last several months, the poor guy will never be able to live up to expectations.

Update: So, it seems that “Parks and Recreation” will disappear briefly, and return on April 19th to finish out its season after “Up All Night” has completed its run (i.e., no reruns).

Better news, still, is that — as of April — “Whitney” and “Are You There, Chelsea” will be vacating the NBC schedule to make room for Betty White’s prank show, “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.”

OMG YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

I was SO excited, until I read this and realized that Parks and Rec was getting the shaft.

As much as I love Troy and Abed, they do not hold the same place in my heart as the Pawnee gang. I NEED ANDY DWYER AND HIS UNBRIDLED ENTHUSIASM IN MY LIFE ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

Please, mercy kill The Office... and maybe 30 Rock.

Give me all of the bacon and eggs you have. I am that upset.

Waahoo! Community returns!

Un-waahoo, I can't have Parks & Rec on the same night?

WHAT ABOUT MY NEEDS?

Posted by: tamatha at February 21, 2012 4:09 PM

...and there was much rejoicing (yay!)....

Posted by: John W at February 21, 2012 4:26 PM

And thus, the black shrowd over Greendale was finally lifted, revealing that we do not, as yet, reside in the darkest of all possible (seven?) timelines.

::whew::

Of course, with "Parks & Rec" off for a month starting in March, my boycott of NBC Thursdays will continue mostly unabated until its eventual return. Oy.

Posted by: RobP at February 21, 2012 4:30 PM

I guess NBC knows my birthday in March 17.

I wonder if there'll be talk of breasts.

"SHORTS! I CHOOSE SHORTS!" [manly sobs of joy and redemption]

Posted by: Soulless Merchant of Fear at February 21, 2012 4:47 PM

Yay. I'm fine having to wait on Parks and Rec if only because I'll have nothing to watch when the season is up for both of them. So this makes me space it out.

He has nothing to worry about. He can put on the worse episode ever and everyone will be too bleary eyed to notice anything.

I hope Community doesn't go the way of Scrubs 1.Suck.

Either you give us more of Community with the same exact ppl or you kill it off. Please don't change Jeff into a girl and bring the other Franco in so you can kick the corpse around before blowing it to bits.

This is somewhat disappointing. I enjoy "Community" very much, but Parks & Rec is my favorite sitcom going.

I guess I will have to look at the same way Lucas is.

Posted by: Forbiddendonut at February 21, 2012 7:22 PM

So Community comes back and Parks and Rec has to leave? There's a minimum threshold of suck on network TV isn't there? It's a sophie's choice of good shows! You can't break me TV. I shall DVR and hulu and you WON'T BREAK ME!!

Unless Two Broke Girls gets a movie. Then I'm gonna snap like a slim jim you evil fucks.

I don't care whatsoever about Parks and Rec but I love Community with a fiery passion so this is the best news I've heard all day.

For the record, Parks and Rec is always fine but it is nothing even slightly special to me. I think it may be so over-hyped that it ruins my ability to enjoy it for what it is. I blame you people, of course. I forgive you though because most of you are the ones who raved enough about Community to get me to start watching it and it totally lived up to the hype.

Posted by: becks at February 21, 2012 7:47 PM

Oh also, if Figgy asks, you guys never saw me write anything bad about Parks and Rec. Figgy may be tiny and adorable but you should never cross that woman when it comes to Parks and Rec.

Posted by: becks at February 21, 2012 8:05 PM

Hey um Becks? Good to know ya. Just for the record, me? I love Parks and Rec. Loooooove.

DON'T HURT ME FIGGY!!

Posted by: Mrcreosote at February 21, 2012 8:47 PM

I am supposed to be at a bar and massively drunk on March 15th (and 16th) - Tourney Time, everyone! So I will have to enjoy my new Communitys over the weekend.

Posted by: Three-nineteen at February 22, 2012 12:29 AM

This pleases me.

Posted by: Kobie at February 22, 2012 6:23 AM

Because I literally cannot watch P&R (I really can't. It hurts to watch Poehler's character embarass herself over and over again.), I'm not concerned over the switcheroo.

Yay for Community!

Posted by: FabMax at February 22, 2012 12:32 PM

Haha, Off Their Rockers! Good choice NBC.

Posted by: valerie at February 22, 2012 12:54 PM

Oh delight! This news has made my day!

I have a hangbag already... it holds my testicles.

it's truly sad that that's the promo picture they used. i think shows that rely on sex and women to get ratings generally suck, and it's kind of gross anyways. i'd much rather watch a well-written, funny show like Community without all the unnecessary focus on the actress' boobs or whatever. not everyone watching is a dude, or cares about boobs, and it's pathetic that most shows on TV have to reduce themselves to focusing on T&A in order to not get the axe. America, we kind of really suck.
