The image below is considered NSFW for gratuitous display of backside in an underwater setting. It is of Alexandra Daddario, who was in two or three episodes of True Detective, where she removed her top and gained the appreciation of many. I would counter, however, that Ms. Daddario is ill-equipped for the swimming. The nudity is fine, of course, as it has be shown that nudity knocks upwards of two-tenths of a second off of one’s lap time. However, the heels are problematic. They make it very difficult to swim, and even if Daddario were not in a competitive race (as is apparent from the lack of contestants around her), those heels are hard enough to wear on city streets. Can you imagine walking in a pool in them?

It’s not that I don’t appreciate the photo, mind you. I am 87 percent heterosexual, after all. I just think that, if you’re going to be someone that others look up to, that it’s important to dress more practically, lest the young women of today get the impression that it’s OK to walk around swimming pools in heels.

I would also mention that the image (like the one above) comes from photographer Ralph Mecke, over at Vanity Fair, but since I’ve doubt you’ve read even this far before scrolling down the page, it seems even less likely that you’re going to read about Daddario’s interests in Nancy Drew and her previous roles in the Percy Jackson films. But having at least made not of it, I feel better about displaying their photograph here for the viewing pleasure of this audience.
