After deals with two survivors of a bus crash, (Steven Strait & Karolina Wydra) who were both separately heading back to their small hometown of Pearl after long absences. When they do finally find themselves there, they realize the town's population has completely vanished with no sign as to why. They begin to explore Pearl together trying to determine what's happened. They discover an ominous wall of darkness both surrounding the town and slowly overtaking it.

There seemed to be several elements taken from other horror stories, Steven King's The Langoliers and Vanishing on 7th Street both come to mind. The movie's title also suggests it might have given away a Shyamalanian twist.

After comes to theaters September 12th.

Ugh, at least Vanishing on 7th Street had John Leguizamo.

  • JenVegas

Is it Phantoms? It's totally Phantoms, right? No? Well I think I liked it better when it was Phantoms...the book, not the movie. The movie sucked (even though I love watching it.)

  • CptCrckpot

Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms.

    SPOILER ALERT:
    .......................................................................................................................
Without having even watched the trailer I can safely say the ending will annoy the hell out of you.

  • Anne Lucchesi

Is that the same font they used for Brave? It looks very familiar.

  • ,

Couldn't we all just go see "Night of the Hunter" at the theater there?

That thing scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

  • danobc

i don't want to use the P-Word again just like i used during Lost sooo many times.

  • AudioSuede

They had me until the last-second moster shadow flash. Then I instantly tuned out.

  • BWeaves

    Agreed.

  • Nadine

I saw the trailer for this a few days ago and guessed what it's about, it's pretty obvious.
I won't say, just in case. Though, I would be quite happy to be proved wrong.

  • ,

Oh, go ahead. The rest don't have to read it if they don't want to.

  • Jezzer

    SPECULATION, BUT POSSIBLY SPOILER:

The most obvious way the story could go would be that they didn't survive the bus crash and the empty town is a Purgatory.

  • Nadine

Well, I still haven't spoiled but yeah, that is clearly it. I mean I if it's different, new? Fuckin' AWESOME. But it's not.

  • Jezzer

They could find out at the end that the entire town snuck out and left while they were asleep as a prank, and at the end they whip off their monster masks and go "SURPRISE!!!!" Then the protagonists would say, "Oh, YOU GUYS!" and start a hearty laugh, the screen would freeze on their smiling faces, and a whimsical tune would play us into the credits.

  • Jezzer

It seems so obvious that I'm going to be angry if that's the case.
