Adorable Cat Eating Alien Makes Racial Slurs ... for Laughs

It’s two days before the day before Christmas, so while you’re all pretending to work, why not check out this blooper reel from the 80s alien sitcom, “ALF.” It’s eye opening: Among the highlights — ALF uses a lot of profanity; ALF makes passes at his teenage co-star Andrea Elson (who I had an insane crush on when I was a kid), asking her at one point to straddle him and, if I’m not mistaken, feigning masturbation; another “blooper” has Elson displaying a moment of child-actor diva-ness, when she calls her younger co-star a “little fucker,” and most damning, perhaps, a “blooper” around the five-minute mark where, ALF, pretending to have Tourette’s (riffing on an “L.A. Law” episode controversial at the time), wildly says the N-word over and over.

Only in the 80s, folks. Only in the 80s.

Having seen Permanent Midnight, I'm fairly certain they weren't referring to the A/V units when they yelled out, "We've got speed!" Jerry Stahl must have been on set.

No matter how awful that show was, man, the puppeteer was a maestro. Even ALF's co-stars react to him like he's a real guy.

Hey! ALF was a great show! And my opinion is not at ALL influenced by the fact that my age was still in single digits when it was on TV.

Actually, since I heard about this, I discovered that you can actually watch Seasons 1-3 of ALF on YouTube, and you know what? I don't hate it! I think it holds up. Really.

Interesting how you can take "News for Aliens; No aliens were injured on the Santa Monica Freeway this morning and similarly no aliens were killed on the 405" to mean more than one way- and only one of them sci-fi related which strangely enough would not have even occurred to me had I not seen the clip of ALF going all Tourette’s there.

No idea where you're hearing "Little Fucker", Dustin, other than perhaps in the echoes of the latest masterpiece starring Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro. "What the fuck are you doing?" is what I hear.
