Sweeties, darlings…light up, crack open the champagne and put on your best inappropriate clothing, the “Absolutely Fabulous” reunion is on. After far too long a dry spell (2004-2011), Eddy and Patsy are ready to expose life in their golden years—never mind that Jennifer Saunders swore she’d never play Edina again. Apparently she’s just as addicted to bad behavior as we are, because it was her idea to reprise the debauchery. Joanna Lumley (Patsy) informed the media that filming is expected to start late summer and that “…we fast-forwarded to where they’re very old and nearly dead and practically plugged into vodka machines, it doesn’t matter how beyond [the original series] we do it.” Lumley also confirmed that Julia Sawalha (Saffy), Jane Horrocks (Bubble) and June Whitfield (Mrs. Monsoon) are all still available, so she felt, “We just have to do it.”

Here’s a little montage to whet your appetites:

The BBC has confirmed they’re putting the finishing touches on an at least three-episode deal, so unpack your things and sit.

I've practically worn out my DVD collection I love this show so much. What wonderful news.

No Sawalha would naturally be a dealbreaker.

Hurrah! I want to see how Saffron's gotten on over the years. I always felt a bit sorry for her.

Finally...I can stop holding my breath.

I like the concept, but I'm concerned that since most of the series was almost 20 years ago, it's pasted its sell-by date. Sort of like Mary and Rhoda.

Now if Saffy turns out to have gone down the path of the self-indulgent and drives her own daughter crazy, now that might be an interesting twist.

Yay!! Such a fun show. They crack me up. I do really despise Saffy though. UGH.

I TOTALLY walk around quoting Bubbles ad nauseum. Seriously iconic character.

Lap? Top?

Also, CAN I JUST SAY SOMETHING?!

I twisted my darling hubby's arm to watch AbFab when it first came out, and he swore he'd hate it, and he loved it even more than I did. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed with the specials that came out over the years, so they are going to have to seriously win me over again.

I know this is going to tweak the die-hard fans, and i do apologize for that, but wasn't there supposed to be an american version of this? What happened with that?

I'm with you, BWeaves. I loved the show, but the specials didn't capture the old magic.

I do think it's hilarious, though, that Mrs. Monsoon will be back if, in fact, they've aged Eddie and Patsy so much. How old must she be???

I hope they bring back all of the supporting players that I loved so much ---- Patsy's sister Jackie, Eddy's ex-husband Marshal and Bo Chrysalis, Eddy's other ex-husband Justin and his lover Oliver, as well as the girls from the magazine.

But since Christian Lacroix is no longer "in" what will Edina be wearing now?
