RICHMOND, Indiana — A local Indiana man expressed complete indifference today after learning that a show he’s never heard of on a network he never watches has been cancelled. The TLC Network (formerly, The Learning Channel) cancelled Gypsy Sisters this week, following reports that the husband of a cast member on the reality show killed a dog in a puppy-tossing incident.

“What? What is Gypsy Sisters? Is that a real show?” Ben Duvall remarked upon learning the news, as he was hurriedly walking out of his home so he could make it to Starbucks before the shift of a barista he’s had his eye on ended. “Isn’t ‘gypsy’ a racial slur?”

The TLC program has faced controversy in the past over both its name and its characterization of American Romani community, which has blasted the series for racist stereotyping and false claims about the ethnic population. Nevertheless, TLC kept the series on the air for four seasons, until Skott Vuncannon — the husband of a cast member — killed his wife’s dog over a domestic dispute.

According to the police report, Mellie Stanley Vuncannon stated that — during an argument about the rent — her husband “went crazy, picked up the dog and slung her across the kitchen as hard as he could.” A police officer determined that the puppy, which had a small amount of blood in its mouth, had died from the impact.

“Are you f**king serious?” Duvall remarked upon learning of the incident. “What kind of monster throws a puppy against a wall?”

Meanwhile, Mellie Vuncannon insisted in a social media post that the cancellation of Gypsy Sisters was unrelated to the death of her dog.

Vuncannon also posted a photo of her late puppy.

“I hope that man burns in hell,” Duvall stated, as he returned to his home. “I don’t even want coffee anymore,” he muttered under his breath. F**k it. I’m calling in today. I need to lie down.”

A spokesperson for TLC could not be reached for comment.
