A List of US Theaters Showing the 'Veronica Mars' Movie. Sorry, Many of You

By Dustin Rowles | Trade News | January 28, 2014 | Comments ()

13-veronica-mars.jpg

Tickets for the Veronica Mars movie will go on sale on Valentine’s Day, although the film will not be released until March 14, 2014. Here’s the thing, though: It’s mostly only playing in AMC theaters, so if you don’t have an AMC theater nearby, you’re going to have to drive long distances to see Veronica Mars or you can see it at SXSW on March 7th (which is where I’ll be seeing it, which is fortunate since there are no AMC theaters in Maine).

So, scan the listings, and if your town doesn’t come up, have a minor heart attack, and then purchase bus tickets along with your movie tickets on Valentine’s Day. (I might add that this is especially painful for those who donated to the VM Kickstarter but may have to wait a while to actually see the film).

In addition to the theaters below, it will also be playing at these non-AMC theaters: Premiere Cinema 15 (in Lubbock, Texas), The Living Room 6 (Portland, Ore.), Cinetopia Progress Ridge Beaverton (Portland, Ore.) and Cinetopia Vancouver Mall (Vancouver, Wash.).

Pre-order here on Valentine’s Day.

And uhm, AMC Rules, Regal Drools?

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • Jifaner

YAY my theater is up there

  • They should throw it up On Demand as soon as possible.

  • Because I am trapped in Jersey, I had no idea that this AMC thing was a problem. Now I feel guilty for my options. :(

  • webelos8

LAKE SQUARE 12 by Orlando is where I used to go see movies when I was growing up.

  • Berry

I'd have to fly across the stupid, useless Atlantic to see this, so if you have to drive less than twelve hours to do it, don't come crying about it to me. I have no sympathy. NONE!

  • Morgan_LaFai

Look on my works ye mighty and despair, for ye ain't gonna get to see shit. Wmaaaahaaaahaaaahahahaha

  • DominaNefret

We should have a DC area opening weekend PajibItes screening at Tysons. We can meet for dinner at the mall before hand.

  • MrPA

Is this the absolute end-all list? I work at a Regal and not only does AMC usually know if they will have the anticipated movies much further in advance than us but sometimes we don't know we'll have a new movie until the Wednesday before it comes out, especially with the more independent features.

  • Looks like moving to Frozen Hell(aka the Twin Cities)is finally going to pay off and/or not remain an entirely regrettable decision. And it only took 14 years, too.

  • Samantha Klein

Twin Cities Pajiba Veronica Mars meet-up, anyone?

  • Melissa

Pretty sure my sister, husband and I are gonna see it at Arbor Lakes

  • I will see y'all in Durham on opening night!

  • laylaness

Yesssss! But us backers also get a digital copy on the release date.

  • Hasen Klub

I fully realize this is probably most likely a dumb question, but this isn't going to be one of those "one time only" screenings is it? I know that wouldn't make sense, but I'm paranoid. I'm fortunate enough that one of the theaters is at a place 15 minutes away where I'm a basically a permanent fixture, but I'm out of town opening weekend. I just want some reassurance.

Please, Marshmallows, you're my only hope...

  • General Bluth

You'd think Boise was a big enough city to warrant at least one screen, but nope, I have to travel 6 hours to Portland. Heck, one of the Borne movies had a premiere at the Egyptian Theater here, why can't we get Veronica Mars?

  • duh

well, first off, the bourne movies had premieres here because the director considers boise a second home. and second off, we dont have any amc theaters

  • aroorda

I DO have a freaking AMC theater and yet we're not on the list. Yet Detroit has 7 theaters showing it? There aren't 7 families that even live in down town Detroit anymore.

  • Alicia

Um, most of those aren't downtown.

  • DominaNefret

Tyson's Corner is 5 miles from me, so I'm set.

  • emmalita

Awesome. I'm good if I'm still stuck in family purgatory or if I'm back home in DC land.

  • DominaNefret

You live in DC land? I live in DC land!
I actually got my SO to watch VM with me, so this is one of the few movies I'll actually be able to get him to see with me. He likes boom smash movies, I like snooty intellectual films.

  • I'm the same way with my fiancee, I like boom smash movies and horror films, whereas she prefers weepy emotional dramas and various other kinds of chick flicks.

  • DominaNefret

I've found that I'm actually losing my taste for weepy emotional dramas; the intentional emotional manipulation has become extremely off putting. Of course, if you are talking about things like The Notebook (which I have never seen), I have never had a taste for that particular genre of weep fest, and I lost interest in chick flicks after college.
I do like Disney movies though. And charming old people movies.

  • I like old movies as well. Old B&W ones from the thirties or forties with William Powell or Myrna Loy or Clark Gable.

  • PerpetualIntern

Yay DC land! Me too me too!

  • emmalita

I usually live in DC land, but I am spending months in the place of my birth with my father taking care of important, though frustrating stuff. And I like both boom smash movies and snooty intellectual films.

  • DominaNefret

Ah, important but frustrating stuff. The place of my birth is DC Land, and I live five miles from my parents, so I don't have to go very far to deal with said stuff. I've moved around the country a couple of times, but it keeps pulling me back.

I find long action scenes intensely boring. I end up spacing out and thinking about something more stimulating, like my grocery shopping list. I've fallen asleep while seeing a few in the theaters.

  • emmalita

I love the DC area. I love Central Texas, too. I couldn't live near my dad permanently. The only reason I have any impact on him at all is the knowledge that I can walk away. Not that I threaten him, but he knows that if I feel like I'm not helping I'll go home. I miss my DC life. :(

  • NateMan

Tyngsboro is apparently wicked nice and right near my in-laws. I know what I'm getting my wife for Valentine's Day!

  • cox

Oh boooohoooo. Some of us donated from abroad with not even a flimsy chance of seing it in theater. It was the right thing to do. Is what im going to repeat to myself as i rock back and forth, encompassed by jelousy of people have to drive "whole 3 hours".

  • APOCooter

As it currently stands, I'd have to drive three hours to Cleveland or Pittsburgh to see this movie.

    I'd probably do it.

    Even for a midnight showing.

  • kdm

Any word on Canadian showings? If I remember correctly, Cineplex bought AMC last year...

  • Alex W

The emails that were sent out to kickstarter backers said this, "For our international backers: don't worry! We're still working through the arrangements for international distribution, but we'll have more news soon. Until you hear something from me, assume it's just a rumor."

  • kdm

    Thank you!

  • Jeremy

    Hooray Village Crossing 18!

  • meadowdancer

Yes it will be near me in DC I am so going to the movies!

  • L.O.V.E.

Showing at the theater across from work. starting to get the sniffles already. might be sick that day.

  • Aaron Schulz

    Huzzah!

  • Genevieve Burgess

A long time ago, we used to be friends but I have at least three theaters within a half hour drive of me airing this, so just remember me when you're sitting at home.

  • Anna von Beav

I've got three also! Well, technically, probably a bunch more of those are within a half-hour to 45 minutes, but my main three are there, so I'm good.

  • narfna

Oh, good. I was super worried I'd have to drive to PHX to see this. The 14th is my birthday. Seeing this is going to be the best birthday present ever.

  • Ambergold7

I saw this a few minutes ago and was CRUSHED. Believe me. I donated to the Kickstarter and there's no screening in my STATE.

  • Tiffany Yango-Au

Me too. Hawaii. I'd have to fly 3000 miles to attend a screening. :(

  • NateMan

I tell ya what. You come stay in my house in MA, I'll go to Hawaii, and everyone wins. I can't promise you'll get me to swap back, however.

  • el_mediocre

Same here, but I live in Alaska and generally expect disappointment as a result. Sigh

  • NateMan

    Aww, that sucks. I'm sorry.

  • Even Stevens

I have two AMCs near me and I'm still SOL! You can go to the official AMC page and request your area to be added though and AMC said they would see what they could do: https://www.amctheatres.com/mo...

  • NateMan

You got not one but two spam replies. Spambot's love for you is impressive.

  • Even Stevens

Right? I like to think it's some kind of record
