This one is basically the one that Modern Family ripped off for its title sequence.

This is one of the more memorable ones. My favorite thing about it, though, is that Joey and Ross seem to be leaning in to listen to conversations that no one is actually having.

Clearly, an early season promo — maybe even of the first season. It’s pre-Aniston haircut, and I’m not sure what they knew what they were doing with Joey at the time (I’m sure it was pre-sandwiches). You look at Aniston and Cox in this photo and you wonder how those characters would ever become the two most attractive characters on television. They look positively square.

In this one, they were all auditioning to be in the Guilty Remnant.

I recognize Ross’ haircut from all the episodes with the goddamn monkey. He always looked like a guy who styled his hair by licking his palm and pressing it down his skull.

Here is the most memorable Friends promo, from the best seasons of its run. This is probably somewhere between the 4th and 6th season.

They made a choice here to all fashionably wear black, and yet, they’re piled on the tackiest couch of the entire 1990s. Whose grandmother did they borrow that from? (Also note that, in many of the earlier season promos, Aniston was the camera’s focal point. I wonder how they others felt about that?)

Late season Friends, when everyone got their own expensive personal stylist. So much hair gel. Also, I can’t tell if Monica is holding a glass or about to grab Phoebe’s boob.

This is the kind of promo image that will get your show cancelled before anyone even sees it.

This one is called the Hetorosexual Male’s Special. It’s my favorite.
