    Random:

    1. Spacey is obviously doing his best Cecil Turtle / Mitch Mcconnell impression in that selfie.

  • Guest

    2. Is that Lupita in the bow tie or is she in the back?

  • Guest

    3. I know Sally Hawkins is making alot of worst dressed lists but she looked totally cute / hot / bangable last night and is making me reassess my Pajiba 5 for 2014.

  • You might want to take a second look...she looks like Steven Tyler in drag.

  • TacoBellRey

I love Adele Dazeem, but that performance was rough. That high note at the end is a toughie.

  • googergieger

I saw none of these movies.

  • Ryan Ambrose

I'm glad The Great Beauty won, it was a vivid and joyous portrayal of Italian decadence and a delightful pleasure, no wonder The Hunt didn't stand a chance given its subject matter and how it was a succession of gut punches.

But can someone please explain why The Act of Killing didn't take "Best Documentary"? That's just baffling, it's quite possibly the most politically relevant documentary I've ever seen and I can't even imagine the impact it must have caused in Indonesia, it was the sort of film that epitomized what the phrase "the power of cinema" means. And that ending simply made me feel revulsion and sympathy at the same time. It was the only possible choice, it should have won.

  • Sara_Tonin00

Unfortunately, it has not had much of an impact in Indonesia.

...I'm too chicken at the moment to see the film. Someday.

  • Because Hollywood doesn't like documentaries that make them think, they like documentaries that make them think they're thinking.

  • Because the Act of Killing is about real life, and 20 Feet from Stardom celebrates entertainment.

*I did not see 20 Feet from Stardom

SO, this happened on my FB, and the identities of the guilty are hidden for their protection. Apparently, "Let It Go" is not universally adored.

T - i'm sorry but that disney song sucks.
M - Oh my god it was AWFUL.
T - the Karen O song is amazing. But the simps love the melodramatic disney. BUT the acceptance speech was cute.
    M - Indian Menzel's smarmy miked-Broadway voice didn't help.
T - i keep mixing her up with the chick from Glee.
    M - Interchangeable shrillness.
. . J - I love the song, myself. (I also love Happy. Tonight was the first time I'd heard the Moon song, but I liked it.)
    E - I think Bono looked surprised.
S - Look what you can do with a little editing: "i'm sorry but disney sucks."
T - Disney does suck. I'm so happy my kids way not into it.

  • Al Borland's Beard

I hate it. It's mostly due to overexposure, rather than a perceived lack of quality.

  • Maddy

I actually think .... they got this right. All I care about is Lupita though - she is amazing and I'm so happy she won

  • cruzzercruz

McConaughey deserved an Oscar for the time he showed up in the first ten minutes of The Wolf of Wall Street and stole the movie.

  • Ryan Ambrose

    Alright alright alright

  • meadowdancer

    Jonah looks so sad. Lol

  • Sara_Tonin00

It's Jonah Hill's eyes right behin him that make this for me - "check in with Leo, how's he doing, ok back to the stage"

  • meadowdancer

    Haha.

  • Remember when Bale and McConaughey were in Reign of Fire? Now they both can reminisce about fighting dragons while polishing their Oscars. I owe someone a lot of money for the latter finally winning.

  • Michael B. Conway

Matthew McConaughey deserves an Oscar for Best Supporting an Actress. He was so gallant and supportive and kind with Kim Novak. What a sweetheart.

  • idiosynchronic

It almost made up for the creepy, "My motivation is that I'm competing with myself when I'm 10 years older," speech.

  • kirbyjay

At least it wasn't a laundry list of people we don't know and don't care about. The minute a winner starts with the "I'd Like to thank".........I'm a goner....zzzz....zzzz.....zz.....zzzz

  • Ohhh, so that's what was on telly last night

  • Ofir Fishkin

Let It Go deserves the win, i cant stop listening to it.

  • Al Borland's Beard

Neither can I, because my roommates either listen to it or watch the movie every day. At first, I didn't mind it. Now, I wish I could stop it from existing.

  • NateMan

My wife and 2yr old are both addicted to it. I preordered the Frozen Blu-Ray the day we saw the movie in theaters. It was still all I can do to stop my wife from buying it on iTunes when it came out last week.

  • Natallica

I was expecting Kanye to show up and interrupt McConaughey with a "Yo, Matthew, I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish, but Leo had one of the best performances of all time".

  • Guest

They probably don't share the same Agents / Agency / Reps like he (Kanye) does with Swifty.

  • katiemaybe

Yeah, but Kanye was right about Beyonce. Still waiting for a year Leo didn't win where he wasn't the third best in the category.

  • Davis

He should have won twice for Whats eating gilbert grape and The Aviator.

  • meadowdancer

Exactly. Leo can take a seat. WoWS was just him playing himself.

  • Natallica

I loved Leo on WoWS, but I agree Matthew's performance was way more nuanced and sacrificated.

  • Megan

    No surprises at all. Blah.
