Norman Reedus Has a Plan If 'The Walking Dead's' Daryl Dixon Is Killed Off

Don’t start freaking out yet, but if Daryl Dixon buys it during this season of The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus has a plan. As fans, one of our biggest fears has always been losing our favorite crossbow wielding, original cast member — we can take almost anyone dying, but don’t take our Daryl.

**Season Six Structure Spoiler ahead — no big plot reveals**

Word on the street is that he’ll at least be safe during the flashback-heavy first half of season 6. Producer Scott Gimple says the first episodes will be prequel-ish, a lead-in to a comic event:

“I think there’s a really cool aspect to the first half of the season that serves almost as a prequel to some direct comic stuff in the second half of the season. I think there’s a way that Robert did some of the story that we’re reaching that had a real past to it, where people are referring to some things in the past in the comic. And we’re able to portray some of that backstory in some ways that you didn’t get to see in the comic.”

Speculation about the story arc Gimple is referring to seems to lean toward the group of people Alexandria leader Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh) mentioned she evicted. Flashbacks could also mean we’ll get to spend a lot of time with Lennie James’ Morgan Jones — find out exactly how he went from the completely broken man he had been, to the zen master we encountered last season.

Although there’s plenty of Daryl in the new trailer released at Comic-Con, Reedus is well aware there’s been “If Daryl dies, we riot” fan campaign that’s been in place since (at least) TWD’s third season:

“I mean I know it’s a t-shirt. Thank you? I like a good riot.”

And, if his character is ever killed off, the actor has a very specific place he’d like people to carry out their plan:

“I remember the LA riots, and I was like, ‘Why don’t we get the DMV? Let’s take down the DMV. Why are we taking down this store? Who needs a TV? Let’s burn the DMV!’

Just go straight to the DMV, yeah. Take out all your anger at the DMV.”

So yeah; I guess like most of us, Reedus had a bad experience last time he went to renew his license or register his bike? Interestingly, Gimple has no such beef (or, perhaps he’s making an attempt at damage control):

Me, I’m with Daryl Norman. The DMV is a place of pure human misery, and a little more chaos could only improve things.
