Which of these 6 Actors Has Been Cast as Sarah Palin in the HBO Movie Game Change?

Having already directed the HBO movie, Recount — about the 2000 election — Meet the Parent’s director Jay Roach will not direct Game Change, about the 2008 election (has it been 3 years already?) It’s based on the book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, and it follows the John McCain campaign from the moment he chose Sarah Palin until their election night defeat.

It sounds fun, actually. Yesterday, Deadline announced who had been chosen to play Sarah Palin, and while you could just click on the link and find out, wouldn’t it be more fun to try and guess from among these five choice.

A. Mariska Hargitay

B. Tina Fey

C. Julianne Moore

I saw the answer on The AV Club yesterday, and I have to say they made an interesting choice. Not the obvious choice, but the role will be in capable hands. I'm very curious about what tone the series will have given the book was supertrashy (in a way I guiltily enjoyed), or if they'll go for serious, which is in this actress's wheelhouse (at least in my opinion).

Can we pretty please not post any pictures of *her* here? Let's make this a Pali..asdf;lkaerfyhp!(*#^) free zone.

I can't even type her name now. Just no. No, no, no, no, NO! Get it off. It burns my eyes. Burnnsssss

I second Scully's motion.

I'm for Megan Mullaly if we get Nick Offerman as Todd Palin. Don't think about that for more than 15 seconds or your head may go full-Scanners.

It's about time someone made a movie about the brave lone wolf/bear mom. The compelling, interest-BARRRRRRRRFFFFF!

I..I can't do it. Almost got that out without getting sick.

In seriousness though, I'm glad they went with someone who could make a compelling character rather than just try to match her looks and make some shitty SNL skit of a movie.

She was shite as Clarice Starling...she'll be shite as Sarah Palin.

Lisa Ann or GTFO

Wait, was Starling the only role she's played so far in her short career?

Posted by: sars at March 10, 2011 11:42 AM

Damn, Mariska Hargitay is smokin' hot.

D-Day, that would make an amazing parody film. They'd probably m,ake out fiercely on a bear-skin rug, and then he'd show up with a mohawk she made him wear.

Damn those librarians!

So...
we're gonna get to see how Palin broke-down into a debilitating bout of crying behind closed doors after the Couric interview?

Posted by: Rykker at March 10, 2011 12:02 PM

I don't think Moore is that good of an actress but she DOES always come across as classy and smart. Not sure she'll be able to dumb-trash it down enough to do a good job with that role.

D-Day, I'd also vote for Megan Mullaly if Nick Offerman came as part of the deal. But I don't see him as Todd. Todd's more a Mark Brendanowicz type. Nick as John McCain?

Posted by: Leslie K at March 10, 2011 12:18 PM

None of the above. Snookie is rumored to be in the lead for the role.

(ok ok, I guess Depp then!)

There's really only one question here that we all need answered: is she going to cry in this performance? Prepare to expand the montage, hh.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at March 10, 2011 1:10 PM

@D-day and @Figgy: do you 2 write for SciFy Channel? Because D-Day's cast and a Sarah Palin script has "MegaOrca versus Colossus Grizzly" written all over it.

Posted by: JuiceinLA at March 10, 2011 1:10 PM

Mariska Hargitay, I... I had no idea.

Wow.

Every time I see her name I find it helpful to substitute "Voldemort". I don't know if you can do the same visually, but it's worth a shot
