David Fincher’s The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo hasn’t been released yet, but Lisbeth Salander is already an iconic character, thanks to the both the novels and the Swedish film series. It’s a character seemingly designed for fashion magazines, and Rooney Mara’s Lisbeth Salander has already been plastered on newstands, two months ahead of the film’s release. Earlier this week, we also learned that H&M (appropriately) is putting together a Lisbeth Salander-inspired clothing collection, so that one day soon, a nation with a obesity problem will all be wearing tight-fitting pants and hoodies. It seems like such an uncomfortable ensemble, and then you have to add to it all the piercings and the freaky-looking bangs, and well, soon, Creepy Goth Cadaver will be all the rage. It’s amazing the difference eyebrows make, eh? The blond ones? Eeek, motherf*ckers. Eek.

Anyway, ahead of that impending fashion craze, I thought I’d take a moment to compile the Lisbeth Salander photoshoot collection to over-stimulate your rods and cones.

So how many more versions are they going to make ?

I looked up the fashion. In case you were wondering, the gorgeous lame cowl back dress is Marchesa Resort 2012. They don't have a picture of the front either. Does it have Harvey Weinstein rendered in sequins or something?

Posted by: Mrs. Julien at October 27, 2011 12:04 PM

Her posture makes my back hurt.

Posted by: Samantha at October 27, 2011 12:10 PM

So making shit loads of money by playing James Bonds wasn’t enough for this fucking guy? Now he has to go hook up with some trust fund baby with daddy issues? Keep it up, one more bad horror flick and it’s sitcoms for you buddy. That’s why I like Cruise, he knows where his bread is buttered.

Posted by: Pookie at October 27, 2011 12:12 PM

Well played Mrs. Julien, I can’t stop laughing.

Posted by: Pookie at October 27, 2011 12:16 PM

She is so skinny.

How can anyone be that skinny? I want to feed her milkshakes and gravy fries. And fried butter.

Posted by: Sbrown at October 27, 2011 12:17 PM

@Sbrown

That sounds like it could be an actual line from the books, about Lisbeth, paraphrased.

Never underestimate the importance of eyebrows. We often take them for granted and yet the simple removal of them, be it by shaving or bleaching them into invisibility, can make anyone look ever so slightly inhuman. Some look alien, some look mask-like and still others look sickly strange although many of us do not know immediately why.

And while you could argue that the odd haircut or piercings might make her different, when you see her with eyebrows back on her face, she looks like a completely different person. Who knew that two strips of hair could add (or subtract in their absence) so much?

a nation with a obesity problem will all be wearing tight-fitting pants and hoodies

Ahead of the trend on all three accounts! Go me!

Posted by: twug at October 27, 2011 12:40 PM

wow, they really are going for the hard sell of salander-ass-sex-symbol. too bad the books disagree.

Posted by: miss beca at October 27, 2011 12:51 PM

Is it okay that I find the movie still type photos far less alienating than the Vogue shots? She looks modeled from plasticine and shot on a planet with an entirely different spectrum of light.

I want to like it. I want to like it. I want to like it.
But like every gay girl going hetero on prom night, it's strangely unsettling and deeply unsatisfying. But, thanks? You look like you had fun.

Posted by: Agogagogo at October 27, 2011 1:00 PM

Slander-ass-sex-symbol is my new phrase for Nov.

Posted by: Agogagogo at October 27, 2011 1:03 PM

*Salander.
Though Slander-ass ain't bad...

Posted by: Agogagogo at October 27, 2011 1:05 PM

Wait, what happened to that Japanese hobo that was the most fashionable person in the world? I thought he ended fashion and everything attached to it?

I'll still pass on the remake. The original I still felt was underwhelming. Maybe I've been spoiled by a ton of amazing Korean Thrillers? Maybe...

Posted by: googergieger at October 27, 2011 1:07 PM

I know fashion like I know macro-economics (i.e. I don't), but that picture of her in that silver dress leaning against the statue? That is some absolutely beautiful shit right there.

Posted by: JustBill at October 27, 2011 1:29 PM

Is it troubling at all to anyone else that the majority of these shots sexualize a victim of sexual abuse?
And, all the shots of her with a man frame the man as the dominant one?
Where's the shot of Salander looking like she's going to f up a dude with a nail gun?

Posted by: hamster at October 27, 2011 1:32 PM

I'm with you, Hamster, she's got the clothes, ink and piercings, but not the attitude.

I liked the original but will probably watch this one at home.

I think Rooney Mara is stunning and has her own looks quite unlike anything coming out of the industry in recent years. I hope she has the acting chops to back her up.

Posted by: NeoCleo at October 27, 2011 1:40 PM

Daniel. Come to me. And bring the smoke.

Posted by: klingonfree at October 27, 2011 2:13 PM

I appreciate that she really got those piercings. I am just really glad that they didn't fake that stuff. It may seem like a little thing, but that shit hurts and it looks bad when it's fake.

Posted by: Nimue at October 27, 2011 2:27 PM

She's pretty. She looks like Elijah Wood.

Posted by: itskate at October 27, 2011 4:24 PM

Agreed. I'd really prefer Lisbeth to look like she could rip out Mikeal's liver at any time because she's become peckish. I don't think she'd go for the hug/almost headlock in the above shot. At all.

Posted by: halfpastoctober at October 27, 2011 5:06 PM

Well, in the book she is on top. Because she chose to do so.

Posted by: MRod at October 27, 2011 6:02 PM

Hi,guys. My friends told me about sugarmingle– č0 /Μ. She told me it is the best place to meet rich man and hot lady whoever you want. I have tried. It is fantastic. You wanna get laid tonight? Come in and give it a shot, you will find someone you like there. Have fun! You may find me there! ;)

Posted by: Dancy at October 28, 2011 12:01 AM

She's really pretty, but all of her 'character' shots seem so forced and super posed. After the excellent Swedish films, I have zero interest in seeing GWTDT. Even with Daniel Craig in them.

I just think the originals were so good, so excellent, that I can't stand to see them bastardized by over-the-top American directing. Plus the previews are so overly dramatic. Just...no.
