The Five Hottest Bond Women

A Seriously Random List XXI / Dustin Rowles

Seriously Random Lists | November 14, 2008 | Comments (73)

You’ll see some variation of this post every time a Bond movie comes out on every other film site on the web. Don’t care. We here at Pajiba must go on record with our choice for the top five Bond women. And by “we here at Pajiba,” I mean the Boozehound, who did the ranking honors. I don’t know shit about the ladies of Bond except that I’d put Judi Dench ahead of Terri Hatcher. And speaking of The Boozeound, he’ll have your Quantum of Solace review next hour.

5. Fammke Janssen as Xenia Zirgavna Onatopp in GoldenEye

4. Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore in Goldgfinger

3. Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny in 14 Bond Films

So, what Bond movie was Lando Calrissian featured in? "Live to Die Another Day as a Token Black Character"?

Posted by: Manna at November 14, 2008 1:03 PM

Trade out Eva Green for Claudine Auger and we're good.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 1:04 PM

Is Lando the new Rickroll?

Posted by: Three-nineteen at November 14, 2008 1:05 PM

Scrolling down, all I could think is that Ursula Andress must be number 1. Nothing else mattered, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Is there a best Bond song?

Posted by: Cindy at November 14, 2008 1:06 PM

I'mma have to fight you, Jay. Eva Green is friggin gorgeous.

But seriously, the movie was crap, but what about Sophie Marceau?

Posted by: Snath at November 14, 2008 1:07 PM

Is there a best Bond song?

Yes, Radiohead's cover of "Nobody Does It Better".

p.s. I'm sorry, Daniela Bianchi. I just had to go with the brunette and wetsuit there. Me and Matt Munro still love you.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 1:08 PM

Eva Green is friggin gorgeous.

Ain't sayin she ain't, but Domino wins the bracket. This is heavy Solomonic shit.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 1:11 PM

Jay, I'd go with Maud Adams myself.

Posted by: Cindy at November 14, 2008 1:11 PM

Not covers - the originals.

"Live And Let Die"?

Posted by: Cindy at November 14, 2008 1:15 PM

Rowles I'm not surprised by your selection, in your view white women are the cat's meow. I'd take Halle Berry over any Bond bitch in the history of Bond bitches.

Posted by: Pookie at November 14, 2008 1:16 PM

Awww. Sweet, faithful and adorable Miss Moneypenny made the list. Good call.

Posted by: meaux at November 14, 2008 1:19 PM

Jay: Not bad, but I still swear by Shirley Bassey's "Diamonds Are Forever". Radiohead's was pretty good, but nothing beats Miss Bassey.

Posted by: Jeremy Feist at November 14, 2008 1:20 PM

"Goldfinger" is a contender, of course.

Posted by: Cindy at November 14, 2008 1:26 PM

I had a girlfriend who used to call me "Goldfinger."

Posted by: Pookie at November 14, 2008 1:29 PM

What about Dame Judi Dench?

Posted by: Kayanne at November 14, 2008 1:30 PM

BARBARA BACH.

No contest.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at November 14, 2008 1:38 PM

Welllll I was kinda kidding, Cindy. Obviously the best Bond cover though.

But, to stick with my theme, best song: Thunderball.

I also karaoke that.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 1:38 PM

I'll never understand why Ursula Andress is invariably #1 on these lists. She's not any more beautiful than a whole bunch of the others, and her character was one of the most useless in the series' history.

Count me among the Claudine Auger fans. And Carole Bouquet from For Your Eyes Only was ridiculously hot, with the best legs of any human being ever.

Posted by: Todd at November 14, 2008 1:39 PM

Sorry but the Boozehound must have gotten some bad Mezcal. Moneypenny? Needed some Diana Rigg instead. She made up for less than stunning (compared to many Bond Girls) looks with a fantastic attitude.

Xenia Onatopp needs to be higher as well.

Honorable mention to Daniela Bianchi, Sophie Marceau, Halle Berry, Jane Seymour.

Posted by: Ed Newman at November 14, 2008 1:50 PM

But you've all seen "Operation Double 007" with both Lois Maxwell and Daniela Bianchi and starring Neal Connery, right?

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 1:52 PM

No Grace Jones?

Posted by: branded at November 14, 2008 1:53 PM

The best Bond song is "You Only Live Twice"

My favorite Bond girl is Michelle Yeoh because she's a badass, but the hottest Bond girl is indeed Ursula Andress. Hey Halle Berry, go screw yourself, you rip-off artist!

Posted by: jg at November 14, 2008 1:53 PM

Gotta throw in a nod to Jane Seymour as Solitaire. She was gorgeous in that role.

Posted by: lynx at November 14, 2008 1:54 PM

This really should have been a Top 10. In additon to the other suggestions I'd submit Izabella Scorupco from "GoldenEye" and Rosamund Pike from "Die Another Day". But you really can't go wrong with ANY of the Bond girls. Well, except Grace Jones.

Posted by: TylerDFC at November 14, 2008 1:57 PM

Pffft. THIS is the only list you need:

1.Pooosey Galore

2.Pusay Galore

3.Puusi Galore

4.Mrs. Peel

5.Eva Green

*oh and dishonorable mention: Olivia D'Abo's sister, WORST Bond skank EVAH.

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at November 14, 2008 1:57 PM

Question: Pussy Galore's Real Name was Honor Blackman? That is wonderful to me in many different ways.

Posted by: Optimus Rhyme at November 14, 2008 2:02 PM

Not sure about Ursula. One thing I am sure about, however, is that Eva Green has the nicest rack, by far.

Posted by: sosumi at November 14, 2008 2:02 PM

Claudine Auger had such a cute little tummy. Women in older movies had the cutest tummies. I think I have a problem because that's always the first thing I notice.

Ursula Andress' face is freaking gorgeous. I mean just look at that thing.

Every bond girl is hot minus maybe Teri Hatcher.

Posted by: becks at November 14, 2008 2:03 PM

Oh man I forgot Teri Hatcher was a bond girl. Ewwwwww. At least she dies.

Posted by: Snath at November 14, 2008 2:05 PM

Sorry Slim but Denise Richards was the worst. Hands down. Even Brosnan looks like he can't keep a straight face.

Posted by: amanda47 at November 14, 2008 2:20 PM

Exchange "Rickrolled" for "Landowned" and you got yourself a deal.

Posted by: Recondite at November 14, 2008 2:21 PM

If I were switching sides it would be Eva Green in all five spots, but since he was mentioned: a bit of Bond trivia. Did you know that Otto Goldfinger is based on the architect Erno Goldfinger who moved to London from Germany and bought land near Ian Flemming on which he demolished the existing Georgian house and built one of those inter-war monstrosities full of glass and white stuccoed corners that modernists absolutely love. Flemming was so incensed that Goldfinger had (in his opinion) destroyed his old neighborhood that he named the villain after him in revenge. I love Ian Flemming.

Posted by: PaddyDog at November 14, 2008 2:23 PM

BSlim I think that honor is held and will be held forever by Denise Richards. Yurgh.

But out of all the Bond characters ever, I'll take Sean Bean. Mmmhmm.

Posted by: figgy at November 14, 2008 2:23 PM

I think I love Ian Flemming now too, PaddyDog.

Posted by: Snath at November 14, 2008 2:25 PM

Jane Seymor in Live and Let Die is super super hot

Posted by: Ari at November 14, 2008 2:33 PM

Yuuuuup, I believe you are right, doesn't get stupider than "Nuculear-Scientist-Hooker."

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at November 14, 2008 2:48 PM

Everyone knows that Pierce Brosnan was the hottest Bond woman.

And what, no humorous (yet, also semi-serious) Dame Judy Dench reference?

Posted by: JapJay at November 14, 2008 2:50 PM

Dustin mentioned her in the post and Kayanne made a comment about her too, JapJay.

Posted by: Snath at November 14, 2008 2:54 PM

Jay, you are doing some serious karaoke.

Posted by: Cindy at November 14, 2008 3:05 PM

Swap out Eva Green for Diana Rigg and Ursula Andress for Michele Yeoh and we're good.

Posted by: Adam C at November 14, 2008 3:16 PM

the correct ranking for hottest bond girls:
5. domino
4. pussy galore
3. honey rider
2. zenia onatopp
1. solitaire

the correct ranking for best bond themes:
5. "we've got all the time in the world" by louis armstrong from her majesty's secret service.
4. "goldfinger"
3. "nobody does it better" by carly simon from the spy who loved me.
2. "view to a kill" by duran duran
1. "live and let die" by wings

discuss.

Posted by: NYC at November 14, 2008 3:34 PM

For the record, Jane Seymour's Solitaire has always been my number two.

I can't believe no one else here likes Barbara Bach. She's absolutely stunning, and her Agent XXX was the first worthy foil for Bond.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at November 14, 2008 3:42 PM

3. Jane Seymour as Solitaire
2. Maud Adams as Octopussy
1. Diana Rigg as Tracy Bond

That is all.

Posted by: VampireNomad at November 14, 2008 3:58 PM

When I was a nine I wanted to be a Bond Girl or a lawyer.

I've only abandoned one of those childish dreams and I ain't in law school.

Posted by: Kayanne at November 14, 2008 4:14 PM

As with everything, I take the work seriously, but never myself.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 4:53 PM

I'm so happy Pajiba isn't the cheap Hollywood-fellating type of website which would undoubtedly have put Halle Berry on that list. She's pretty, yes, but grossly overrated in my opinion. And she was horrible in Bond.

Posted by: figgy at November 14, 2008 5:13 PM

NYC: No discussion necessary. You are correct.

(I am not familiar with No. 5, but the rest of your list is inarguable.)

Posted by: firedmyass at November 14, 2008 5:37 PM

I am not familiar with No. 5

The woman or the song? Both are lovely.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 5:42 PM

Oh and the Tindersticks did a lovely cover of said song too.

Have I told you all how I amuse myself by singing various incongruous songs in Stuart Staples' voice?

Never mind.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 5:47 PM

Jay: I was referring to the song... major parts of my body are quite familiar with (at least the idea of) Ms. Janssen.

Posted by: firedmyass at November 14, 2008 5:58 PM

I also don't get Halle Berry...she's pretty, but not exactly captivating on film.

Eva Green is one of the few women I'd go gay for. I can't explain it. It's just the way it is.

Posted by: Joker at November 14, 2008 6:04 PM

she's pretty, but not exactly captivating on film.

I guess that's my minority opinion on Eva Green.

Posted by: Jay at November 14, 2008 6:11 PM

Too scared to put Grace Jones on eh (I'm still wondering if she's actually a man)? What about Tanya Roberts? Yeah I know she's pretty tame, but she has a nice sexy voice!

Posted by: ph at November 14, 2008 6:48 PM

It was pretty much implied in Casino Royale that the Eva Green character loved the anal.

It's in there...

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at November 14, 2008 7:16 PM

You want a list? Here's a fucking Top 5 list:

5. Lana Wood

4. Halle Berry

3. Claudine Auger

2. Caterina Murino

1. Ursula Andress

Oh, and for songs I like View to a Kill and that Chris Cornell song.

Posted by: JP at November 14, 2008 7:55 PM

Very respectable philosophy, Jay.

Posted by: Cindy at November 14, 2008 8:01 PM

JP, I was really disappointed in the Cornell song for Casino Royale. I wasn't really impressed by the song itself, and it didn't seem distinctive enough for a Bond film. However, I am a little nervous about the Keys/White song for the new movie. I didn't see any comments about it in the review - anyone?

Posted by: llp at November 14, 2008 10:03 PM

Barbara Bach

Jane Seymour

have to be in top 5

Posted by: paintjob at November 14, 2008 10:08 PM

This gives me an idea? One could get down to a whole hour of Bond Themes for a little role play, no?

Is it bad that I want to try it out even without the 'role playing'? Like maybe for a third date.

Excuse me for a moment...

My list (in no particular order, just because):

Britt Ekland
Halle Berry
Barbara Carrera
Izabella Scorupco
Olga Kurylenko
Famke Janssen

Posted by: Slash at November 14, 2008 11:59 PM

"I think I love Ian Flemming now too"

Is he at all like Ian Fleming, Bond creator? Cos if so, I'm totally with you there.

Oh, btw:

5. Halle Berry

4. Eva Green

3. Halle Berry

2. Eva Green

1. Halle Berry

Posted by: ben (thpbt) at November 15, 2008 12:38 AM

2. Jennifer Tilley

1. Gina Gershon

Oh, wait ... you said "BOND" women?

Shit. Nevermind.

Posted by: bucdaddy at November 15, 2008 1:21 AM

Man, where are you people getting arrested at? I never see women this hot at the bond agency.

Posted by: stipe42 at November 15, 2008 2:02 AM

I don't know shit about the ladies of Bond either, but I DO know I would've thrown a fit if Famke Janssen wasn't on this list. Because she should be on ANY 'hottest women' list. Even if she's not in the movie it pertains to.

Posted by: Gabs at November 15, 2008 8:25 AM

Fave: Dr. Goodhead from Moonraker; she's was brunette, brainy and uncharacteristically (for a Bond broad) self-reliant.

Least-fave: That Tanya Roberts playmate from View to a Kill.

Posted by: Trey_Shacksit at November 15, 2008 8:42 AM

Well I claim innocence and lack of research, bucdaddy. I just wrote what PaddyDog did. Dammit.

Posted by: Snath at November 15, 2008 10:16 AM

Top 5 In no particular order as it's too hard to think about any of these women and not make them #1

Barbara Bach - The spy who loved me
Famke Hansen - Goldeneye
Akiko Wakabayashi - You only live twice
Jane Seymour - Live and let Die
Olga Kurylenko - Quantum of solace

( I have not seen the latest film yet, She gets in only because of how hot she was in Max Payne, one of the only redeeming qaulities of that movie.

Posted by: Huckleberry at November 16, 2008 11:34 AM

My only changes would be to bump Fammke higher up the list (dead God, I love her) and to consider replacing Eva Green with someone who actually seems to have a personality. I'm with Jay on this one - she's objectively very attractive, but she just doesn't seem sexy to me at all. Then again, my (straight female) best friend quite literally drools over her, so maybe I'm utterly wrong.

As for theme tunes, no one has yet mentioned any of my favourites - "Goldeneye", "The World Is Not Enough" and "A View To A Kill". I'm also a fan of both the "Tomorrow Never Dies" ones and "You Know My Name", though not to the same extent as the first three.

And llp, I kinda like the new Keys/White song ("Another Way To Die") - it took a few listens to grow on me, but it's catchy enough and fits well with the film and particularly with the credit sequence. I don't think it's going to go down as one of the all-time greats, but equally it's not a Madonna-esque catastrophe, so on balance I'm happy enough.

Posted by: Shay at November 16, 2008 3:15 PM

someone who actually seems to have a personality.

Maybe that's what it is. Not a lot of vibrancy, bounce, and other hair conditioner adjectives. The header picture's especially bland to me, the other below's better. Smiling here and there doesn't hurt, Eva. And it takes fewer muscles!

I should add that I wasn't contrasting with joker, I also feel the same way about Halle Berry. To paraphrase Patton Oswalt, she's pretty but...who gives a shit?

Yeah, yeah, call me Winston Smith. But I'm sure they're both perfectly decent human beings, of course.

Posted by: Jay at November 16, 2008 4:26 PM

Oh, and I forgot that you reminded me! My favorite contemporary theme is k.d. lang's "Surrender", the b-side, as it were, to "Tomorrow Never Dies" that ran over the end credits. Good stuff.

I did like "You Know My Name" though.

Posted by: Jay at November 16, 2008 4:39 PM

Thanks for the review Shay. I get to go this week sometime, so I will be listening carefully.

Posted by: llp at November 16, 2008 10:00 PM

Where the hell is Judie Dench on this list?!?!

Posted by: Jordan Paradise at November 17, 2008 3:39 AM

I'm with you, Snath.

Hello y'all, Sophie Marceau?
