Today’s Seriously Random List reflects the holiday it was inspired by. Half of America gets off today; half still has to go to work. So, I’m half-assing it with this list, which I’m republishing from last year. And since no one last year chimed in to say, “Hey! You left off _____,” I’m going to assume this is a perfect list.

Look forward to more half-assing for the rest of the day!

5. 1492: Conquest of Paradise , concerning the explorer, Christopher Columbus.

4. Columbus Day, starring Val Kilmer. Takes place on Columbus Day.

3. Home Alone, directed by Chris Columbus.

2. Zombieland, featuring a character named Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg)

1. Traffic, filmed in Columbus, Ohio.

My fave is the one where Bill Murray keeps waking up with the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria outside his apartment building every day.

What about Mel Gibson's Cool Mayans or something like that running around the jungle speaking some language you have never heard of 'cause I'm Mel Gibson...
They got fucked by Columbus!

Hey, that slouchy "Teachers" movie was also filmed in Columbus and tied up traffic in the area for weeks, with girls trying to get a glimpse of that Ralph Macchio.

This list makes me happy.

But there's nothing slouchy about JoBeth Williams.

A) Before reading the list I wanted to make a jokey comment about why no one had made a movie about Columbus Day, B) Then I read the list and see that Val Kilmer (obviously) has already been in a movie called Columbus Day, and C) The video no longer plays, so now I have to do actual research to learn more about this previously un-heard-of flick.

In summary: This comment is a fail.

Okay, so, I checked out Columbus Day's IMDB page and here's the best user generated plot description I've ever read: "Val Kilmer runs around in a park for a whole day. Sorry I just told you the whole movie."

Another entitled their review "An Enjoyable Day in Echo Park..."

HA!
