The First Ever 'Celebrities Without Makeup' Post Not Designed to Humiliate

I've been noticing a trend in celebrity culture of late, because -- you know -- I follow that sort of thing when the links show up in the content aggregators with which I keep up. That trend is this: Female celebrities voluntarily exposing their faces without makeup. Typically, when you run across a no makeup post -- and there are at least 458 of them on every single gossip blog -- they are full of celebrities caught unawares by paparazzi in airports or on trips to the local convenience store to buy a pack of smokes. THAT'S NOT NICE.

What is kind of refreshing, however, are celebrities who say, "Fuck it. Here I am, bitches, before I even put my face on." AnnaLynne McCord -- from "90210," although I believe I know her from "Nip/Tuck" -- tweeted this out with her no makeup photo over the weekend. "I woke up this morning and decided I'm over Hollywood's perfection requirement. To all my girls (and boys) who have ever been embarrassed by their skin! I salute you!"

Good for you, Ms. McCord.

ASIDE: The whole cosmetics thing is weird to me. Anyone notice regional differences in makeup wearing? Growing up in Arkansas, I never saw a female over the age of 12 without an inch makeup unless I woke up with her, but in New England, women typically wear little or no makeup unless they're getting married. What's it like in the midwest? West Coast?

Anyway, here are five photos of celebrities without makeup in which the celebrity actually posed for the picture. Three are from Twitter, and the last two are from People magazine's Beauty Issue.
