The Debut Films of 10 of the Cast Members of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

TK will have a review of the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for you tomorrow, but I thought it might be fun to see where the cast got their start in moving pictures. You don’t just start out as Spider-Man, you know.

Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) - Boy A (2007) “Jack Burridge”

Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) - Superbad (2007) “Jules”

Jamie Foxx (Max Dillon/Electro) - The Truth About Cats and Dogs (1996) “Ed”

Dane Dehaan (Harry Osborn) - Amigo (2010) “Gil”

I didn’t count his role as “Boy On Bike” in an earlier film. Apologies.

Colm Feore (Donald Menken) - A Nest of Singing Birds - (1987) “Michael Jimson”

This film doesn’t even have a trailer that I could find. The film is about two college professors falling in love.

Felicity Jones (Felicia) - Flashbacks of a Fool (2008) “Young Ruth”

Paul Giamatti (Aleksei Sytsevich) - Past Midnight (1991) “Larry Canipe”

Sally Field (Aunt May) - The Way West (1967) “Mercy McBee”

Embeth Davidtz (Mary Parker) - Mutator (1989) “Jennifer”

This one doesn’t have a trailer either, but if you Google ‘Mutator 1989’, you can watch the entire movie online. It concerns a beast getting loose in a lab and murdering people.

Campbell Scott (Richard Parker) - Five Corners (1987) “Policeman”

I'd just like to note that in "The Way West" clip Robert Mitchum is wearing Pharrell's hat.

  • John W

I can't believe Superbad was Emma Stone's first movie. She seems to have been around much longer than that.

I know we're talking about film, But Jamie Foxx will forever have gotten his start as Wanda on In Living Color in my mind.

I would also like you all to know how much it hurt to type "color" and leave out the required "u". I died a little inside today.

  • Pinky McLadybits

I'm glad. Is the part of you that keeps hiring failing assassins to come after me the one that died?

  • TherecanbeonlyoneAdmin

Oh no. That part is in a locked in an impenetrable chamber comprised of vitriol and utter disdain. I call that part of me Heaven.

  • LL

'Boy A' is an amazingly heartbreaking movie. I highly recommend it. It shows how underrated Garfield is.

  • profession: none, or starlet

Seconded. Beautiful and heart-scalding. Pretty thought-provoking too.

  • Zirza

It's on YouTube in its entirety, if anyone wants to watch it.

  • Dean

Agree. Which it extra fun that he was so terrible on his brief Doctor Who stint.

  • A. Smith

I always thought that Foxx's film debut was Toys.

  • TacoBellRey

Ahh Natasha Richardson. Ow, my heart.

  • Danar the Barbarian

That Garfield boy has a loooooooong neck. Like, a REALLY long neck. It makes me feel kind of weird, in my tummy.

  • BWeaves

    It's disturbingly long. Alien long.

Fun Fact: PAST MIDNIGHT is one of Quentin Tarantino's earliest credits. He did a heavy rewrite of the original script and was one of the associate producers.

  • BlackRabbit

I have all of Mutator's biggest hits.

  • PDamian

I have a bootleg tape of their performance at the Gathering of the Juggalos about seven years back.

Didn't Mutator tour in a black Volkswagen Touareg SUV during Metalfest last year?
