Seconding Laurie. Every Doctor Who fan has a Companion they loathe, and for me, it's Amy. I don't care how gorgeous Gillan is, she can't leave the show fast enough.

The accent melts me, she's as good as an actress as most of the recent companions, but Karen Gillian is just simply too skinny for my bunking.

Am I the only person who is annoyed that they turned The Doctor from a crotchety, old man into an all-growed-up Harry Potter? Why don't they just start calling the Sonic Screwdriver a magic wand and be done with it?

Do you know the problem with the BBC? It's not that they don't understand Science Fiction or Fantasy - which they don't - but that they think both are primarily for children. And Dads can only enjoy watching with their kids if there's some skinny chick running around pretending to be scared.

Didn't really care for Martha, or Rose (although she was cute) Take a look at all of the Doctors companions pretty slim picking when it comes to substance. Amy is my weakness, two reasons, one, accent any girl with irish, scottish, or english accent and I am pretty much done, southern as well but I am from a southern state so it has to be deep south aussie is ok too. Reason number two, two tumultuous (think roller coaster at mach 5) relations ships with two redheads. Toss in the accent and I would pretty much enjoy watching her reading the phone book to me. Oh and the police outfit was rather fetching.

Nope.
I've tried to many episodes of the new Doctor Who (Eccleston, Tennant and Smith)and found them wanting. I mostly blame Russell T Davies who wouldn't know subtlety if someone pointed out the dictionary definition to him.
Week in, week out...it's always one long bombastic crescendo.

As for the Sonic Screwdriver, they should just rename it the Deus ex machina and be done with it.

As for companions, Karen Gillian is pretty, but the FHM/Maxim pictures above do her no favours.

Katherine Jenkins from the Christmas special appears to be mutatng into a life-sized Barbie doll.

Personally, I still carry a torch for Sarah Sutton (Nyssa). She was classy.
