my fav is "true grit" & "social network"

How could they photoshop Natalie Portman? Personally, I liked the limited edition art-deco Black Swan posters. http://bit.ly/fWo5gS

And the Blue Valentine poster is so fucking rockstar. I love it.

Posted by: THE Sofía at December 21, 2010 11:39 AM

That's the WORST Black Swan poster of them all! The others they made, especially this one, are absolutely breathtaking.

I guess movie posters are beyond even my meager critical abilities, because I don't see what's so great about these, or what's so bad about the "terrible" ones.

Posted by: Todd at December 21, 2010 11:43 AM

Admittedly, I haven't seen The Social Network yet but I don't understand all the love for the poster. I just don't think it's that great of a design.

Everything else is good except Blue Valentine. Yes, I'm going to see it. Yes, I think it's going to be a great movie but only because of what I've read about it. Had I heard nothing about the movie, the poster (and the title too now that I'm looking at it from that perspective) would actually turn me off from it.

The Resident Evil poster at the unwarranted spot of numero 7 is bringing down our credibility...

Posted by: D-Day at December 21, 2010 11:46 AM

I prefer the all type iteration of the True Grit poster, personally.

I hadn't seen those deco Black Swan posters before, but they are amazing!

Word to D-Day, re: Resident Evil. Giant Leg Attack!

Posted by: 2HB at December 21, 2010 12:11 PM

Screen-cap Trinity falling out of the skyscraper, photoshop Milla's head, heavy-metal font and we're out.

Posted by: jon29 at December 21, 2010 12:16 PM

And the "zoomed-out" poster for Buried was also light years better. Way more claustrophobic IMHMFO. http://movies.about.com/od/buried/ss/buried-poster.htm

I think we're also all owed an explanation as to why anything with Dax Shepard is on here. Not to mention they forget to photoshop the old-man foot out of #14 as well.

/salutes 2HB

I seem to recall Pajiba hated the Let Me In poster.

Posted by: John W at December 21, 2010 12:36 PM

The Red poster is getting me all hot and bothered.

Posted by: The_wakeful at December 21, 2010 12:58 PM

I really dislike that poster for Social Network.

Posted by: Phaeolus at December 21, 2010 1:00 PM

I love the all type True Grit poster, 2HB. It looks like it should be hanging on the wall of the Gem Saloon.

The art deco Black Swan posters are definitely better. Count me among those who love The Social Network poster and the Blue Valentine poster.

Posted by: becks at December 21, 2010 1:17 PM

Who knows where the movie disappeared to, but lets not forget how great the Death and Cremation poster was.

Posted by: cascavella at December 21, 2010 1:21 PM

OH MAH GAH, 3 of the 4 Black Swan internationals are available at All Posters now?!

AHHHHHHHH! EllCostello, I owe you MY FIRSTBORN*.

*I will not be breeding.

The Gosling shit never stops around here.

Posted by: Jay at December 21, 2010 1:36 PM

The art deco "Black Swan" posters are amazing - much, much better than the amazingly generic glamour shot there of Natalie Portman. The graphics of the other really capture the mood of the film, whereas the one above it just... well, Natalie Portman being pretty, which she does all the time anyway.;)

Posted by: luthien26 at December 21, 2010 1:37 PM

Also, I can't type.:/

Posted by: luthien26 at December 21, 2010 1:38 PM

I love the Social Network Poster. As a designer it is nice to see something so simple yet so powerful get notice.

I liked the "angel" Let Me In poster more.

I also like that zoomed out Buried poster more. And I am surprised that you chose THAT version of the Black Swan poster. I love the deco ones but even this one is better: http://www.shoppingblog.com/pics/natalie_portman_black_swan_posters.jpg (though I like that in the original she's looking at you)

Posted by: KC at December 21, 2010 1:40 PM

#7? Resident Evil? Really? The poster with that scene from Matrix: Reloaded that happened TWICE in the movie? Nobody's noticing how ripped off it is? Can I make a post with all questions?

Posted by: ShagEaredVillain at December 21, 2010 2:25 PM

I know the movie doesn't come out this year, but what about the posters for Sucker Punch? They came out this year...and they are awesome.

Posted by: DeistBrawler at December 21, 2010 2:36 PM

@Jay - I don't see the problem.

The Black Swan deco posters are the best.

I have no idea what Let Me In is, but I'd see it based on the poster.

Posted by: laylaness at December 21, 2010 3:32 PM

I've never seen the poster for "The Crazies" and it's awesome! Seen the movie tho, not so awesome in spite of The Olyphant.

Posted by: Me at December 21, 2010 4:09 PM

laylaness, do yourself a favor and watch "Let the Right One In" instead. It's the original Swedish film "Let Me In" is based on.

I still say there's way too much Damon forehead on that True Grit poster.

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at December 21, 2010 5:05 PM

Have no interest in seeing it, but I liked the Rabbit Hole poster.

THE Sofía - those Black Swan posters are gorgeous!

The Buried poster reminds me of TK's positive review of the movie & Ryan Reynolds. Buried and 127 Hours have similar premises, but James Franco is getting more praise...Pajibans, which movie or performance was stronger?

Posted by: KP at December 21, 2010 5:35 PM

The Black Swan poster is not a generic glamour shot of Portman. It is a picture of fragile beauty that is beginning to crack. It is perfect given the subject matter of the film. I am confused as to why everyone is trashing it. I think it's wonderful.

In fact all of these are quality, except for Resident Evil. The inclusion of that poster doesn't make any sense to me.

Posted by: jollies at December 21, 2010 7:30 PM

Is the Resident Evil poster supposed to be viewed in 3D. Are we supposed to be wearing the glasses? Maybe it would be cooler if I could see it that way ...

Posted by: jollies at December 21, 2010 7:32 PM

So, as I said in the bad posters thread...you can tell the quality of a movie just from the poster. Good poster=somewhat good chance of it being a good movie. The worst movies on the good list(Resident Evil and Daybreakers) were ok, mindless fun. And better than anything on the bad list

Posted by: Sean at December 21, 2010 8:36 PM

I don't get hte blue valentine one. Any other poster on that list I rekon would be more deserving of the top spot.

Posted by: Ben at December 21, 2010 8:43 PM

Scott Pilgrim's poster FTW.

Putting that shit in my living room. In front of the TV.

Posted by: ChristianH at December 21, 2010 9:41 PM

I like these posters but the order is so wrong. The Inception poster is awesome and its at #11? Black Swan is nice but #2? Anyways...the only poster I don't like is the Resident Evil poster.

Posted by: Littlejon2001 at December 22, 2010 1:43 AM

Where's the Rabbit Hole poster? that was brilliant.

and i HATE the Blue Valentine poster for that stupid quote about Oscar nominations. That poster is a clearly a shameless whore and should not be glamorized.

Posted by: Dirk at December 22, 2010 2:08 AM

I got that Pilgrim poster from work, but I honestly wish I was able to get the ones with the evil exes above Scott and Ramona.

I also think there were better Kick Ass, Inception and Buried.
