That's All the Truth I Know: Five Things You May Not Have Heard About This Week

Oh the Important Stuff you'll read!

5. The 2013 Tribeca Film Festival Announced It Will Open with The National Mistaken for Strangers Documentary.

Directed by Tom Berninger (brother of the lead singer), Mistaken for Strangers follows the band on its High Violet promotional tour. After the April 17th premiere, the band will perform live.

4. A Few More Iron Man 3 Photos and Another Poster Were Released.

Last week, we got Ben Kingsley's Mandarin, this week--Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian shows up (even prettier than Pepper Potts) and Don Cheadle's James Rhodes/War Machine. And the latest poster features some of the forty new suits of armor; you can get a closer look here. I expect we'll be buckling up for a new trailer ride any minute now (March 5th).

3. Emma Watson May Be Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella.

The actress is in early negotiations to star in the Disney live action film, alongside Cate Blanchett--as the evil stepmother. Branagh recently replaced Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go, One Hour Photo) as director. I think this could work beautifully.

2. "Game of Thrones" Continued Its Promotional Parade with Season 3 Posters and an Extended Trailer.

1. "Doctor Who" Premiered "The Bells of St. John" Trailer.

Have mercy...between the "Game of Thrones" and "Doctor Who" teasers, my delighted brain is about to have a meltdown. Jenna-Louise Coleman is the best thing to happen in Whoville since--well, not that long ago--Matt Smith. Whee!

And John Barrowman Confirmed He's in Talks to Return

Hallelujah, and can we all just agree to pretend that American "Torchwood" thing NEVER HAPPENED?

Cindy Davis, (Twitter) is twitchy with anticipation.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • BAM

I love GoT but those posters are just boring and lazy. If you're going to release teaser posters, put some g-d teaser in them. And why are the fake photoshop blue shadows arbitrarily chosen? Pick a side and stick with it.

  • Jezzer

I find Jon Snow's ladymouth troublesome.

  • F'mal DeHyde

One thing about GoT that disappoints me is the lack of story on Sandor aka The Hound. He and his brother have a fascinating backstory and are much MUCH more threatening and terrifying in the books. His burns are terrible in the show but they were so bad in the books that his molars were visible from the hole left in his face from his attack... which has also been ignored so far. More Sandor, please.

  • lonolove

Agreed. I was scrolling through the posters like "...Psh. Hound never gets any attention...*grumble grumble*... this is bullshit" and then, gloriously, they included Sandor in on the promotional fun! My fool mind is dancing giddy circles, and my excitement could only be matched by...Spongebob Squarepants.

  • Theunis Stofberg

So I look through the GoT posters and go... He will die, he will die, he will die, she will die, he will change his personality completely, he will die, she will die... Why do I bother to watch this show again?

  • Fredo

Had to resist the urge to punch my laptop monitor when I got to the Joffrey poster.

  • F'mal DeHyde

What is it about that kid's face that's so very punchable? Even out of character, he's an oddly unpleasant looking young man.

  • Jon Snow has a girly mouth.

  • Jezzer

THIS! I wish I had read this before posting about his ladymouth.

  • John W

Bran looks like he aged about 20 years.

  • Well, my nerd heart is beating wildly at the prospect of all of this. Oh, Captain Jack, I am so ready for you to return.

  • Ben

the blue light thing on those posters makes everyones face look lopsided.

  • Lauren_Lauren

Having come to the realization that freaking Captain Jack is in Vancouver on the regular, I now have to go screaming around downtown until I find him and lick his face.

  • Cody McKee

Hmmm... odd that both the host AND Barrowman himself confused Kyle Chandler for him in that clip... or am I wrong?

  • Since that doohickey of Starks(the Iron Man Stark, not the GoT Stark)apparently glows through all his shirts, do you think it keeps Pepper awake at night? Would it be the super-hero relationship hurdle equivalent to loud snoring for normal people? Or, since it's a medical device he needs to stay alive, would complaining about it be a dick move akin to being the guy who complains about the time it takes to raise and lower the wheelchair lift on a city bus?

  • BiblioGlow

If you were sleeping with Robert Downey Jr., would you complain about him having a built-in nightlight by which you could always see his face?

  • Nadine

I just want to check something; Am I the only person still holding out hope that because of the nature of the Whoniverse, Ianto could come back? Because I need that to be true.

  • BWeaves

They could go back in time and have an adventure with Ianto. PLEASE, make it happen!

  • Nadine

    OH MY YES!

  • BWeaves

  • F'mal DeHyde

Gawd, no kidding. Dany's look like they're about to crawl off her face and turn into tiny little butterflies.

  • Hazel Dean

    They are beautiful fuzzy caterpillars.

  • BWeaves

Hum, Jamie and Tyrion have matching facial scars? Is that in the book? Or just the way the makeup lady did them up?

  • BendinIntheWind

I'm assuming coincidence, especially since Tyrion gets it much worse in the book (the axe swing also takes off the tip of his nose), and Jaime's injuries are more generic getting-beat-to-shit-while-being-held-prisoner.

  • BWeaves

Iron Man 3: Rise of the Cod Piece (in my pants).

  • e jerry powell

Do I need to get you some ice water?

  • e jerry powell

I am normally seriously repulsed by plaid suits. That one, I kind of want to peel off of him and proceed to truly naughty bits of business...

  • BlackRabbit

Are those in fashion now, the plaid suits?

  • Boothy K

Guy Pearce is always in fashion...........Yummmmmmmmmmmaaaaay

  • Why do you think Pepper's looking at him the way she is? She's thinking no-one wearing that suit should look that smug unless they're a time traveler from the '70's.

  • e jerry powell

In much subtler patterns, maybe. Other than that, not since about 1978.

  • zeke_the_pig

Yeah, those GoT posters are nice and blue and badass. So much badass in each poster. I haven't read the books, so I have no idea where the plot goes but I'd have no qualms about betting on Arya Stark kicking everyone's arse in the end. And if she doesn't, then she should.

  • Natallica

I want Bronn to become King, at least for a while and just for kicks.

  • John G.

    Maybe like a 9 day king, like England's 9-day queen, but what a 9 days they'd be.

  • Muhnah_Muhnah

The final book in the series will be called "Arya Kicks Everyone's Arse". And it will be glorious. She'll steal Dany's dragons and ride around on them stabbing people with Needle, with Dany running around ordering people to get her dragons back for her because she can't fucking do anything herself. God, Dany! Grow a pair!

  • Milly

In many ways I envy you! I was intending to read the books after the end of the final series, but in order to make myself spoiler immune I've decided to read them all although one small throwaway line in a Warming Glow post ruined one of the major points.

  • John G.

If you wait till the end of the final series, you won't be reading the books until 2025

  • Sara_Tonin00

in order to make myself spoiler immune I've decided to read them all

So in order to not be disappointed by knowing a little bit of what happens next you're reading everything that happens next?

  • Milly

I'd prefer to read things in context, and in the order put forward, rather than someone spoiling a HUGE aspect of the books 2-3 series in advance (which is what happened to me). Knowing something is about to happen without knowing what led up to it really put a dampener on things.

I'm not entirely sure why that is hard to grasp, but there you go.

  • Sara_Tonin00

I was just teasing. I try not to do winky-faces on Pajiba though.

  • Muhnah_Muhnah

Barrowman will probably still be spitting out the pieces of Arrow's scenery. God help me, but I can't stop watching that shit show. First I thought it was all the abs and pecs, but I'm starting to suspect something more sinister.

  • Fabius_Maximus

Yeah, it's actually good, in a cheesy kind of way.

  • logan

hopefully IM3 remembers RDJ is the star.

  • If John comes back, I might actually give in and watch his episodes.

  • TheOtherGreg

So this is the new thing then? The Doctor is all too familiar, so the companion must be strange and mysterious? I'm not against this, but it does lessen the idea that we see the Doctor through the eyes of someone ordinary, and try to understand this ancient and often conflicted alien. It started with Doctor Donna, and continued with Amy. It could be a fresh take on the whole idea behind the series, or just laziness on Moffat's part. But I'll watch, either way.

  • Muhnah_Muhnah

Or getting the audiences warmed up for a female Doctor? I'd love that. I mean...there's really no reason for him to be male, is there? Anyway, the whole bumbling smitten female sidekick thing wasn't working for me, so I'm glad they're going with this. More importantly though, more STRAX!

  • ZombieNurse

I may be in the minority, but I don't want the Doctor to become a woman! I can't explain why, other than it would just seem like they were doing it because...oh, let's make him a woman because it's the 21st century, girl power and what not. It would just seem like a stunt of some kind. I haven't liked of River Song or Amy Pond, and I'd hate to think of the kind of character they'd make the Doctor into if he became a woman. I have no objection to a woman Time Lord (Time Lady?) but I don't want the Doctor to become one.

  • Muhnah_Muhnah

It would be annoying to do it as a "girl power, grrlll" thing, yes. However, if done right and with the right person, then it would just be interesting to see how different he/she'd be. Also, you'll have to meet me in a field somewhere at dawn with a pistol for daring to speak ill of River Song.

  • BWeaves

Not even if it were Judy Densch? Or Maggie Smith? Or Imelda Stauton? or Helen Mirren?

  • Irina

    I vote for Tilda Swinton.

  • Fabius_Maximus

Too alien-looking. Viewers have to be able to relate to the Doctor. She'd be a great villain, though.

  • Muhnah_Muhnah

Ruth Wilson. I'm obsessed with her. And I miss Alice.

This was supposed to be a response to BWeaves's comment above. I've had wine.

  • Fabius_Maximus

    Helen Mirren would be marvelous.

  • Enarra

I told my Mother, "The next Doctor may be a woman" and she was all "Eww! No, that would be horrible!" and then I said, what about Helen Mirren? Totally changed her opinion. Ha!
(also, I also disliked Amy and River, but love Clara ... so far).

  • If you're over the age of 25 and excited about Iron Man - you're a manchild.

  • Jezzer

"Oh, look at me, being all edgy because I'm trolly and dismissive about an entire pop cultural medium and its fandom. *faff, faff, faff*"

  • Ben

Sign me up for my manchild card then and lets rock this shit!

  • BlackRabbit

I can live with that. Or is it a negative?

  • Muhnah_Muhnah

    Even if I'm a woman?

  • Especially.
