The reason I'm not mad about Step Up's bastard children is because it's Adam Shankman giving Nigel Lythgoe a reason to still have a job at FOX. Not so much that I like Nigel Lythgoe -- I really, really don't, because he's a blight on the entertainment industry on both sides of the Atlantic -- but there are actually a fair number of credible dancers coming out of that reality dreck who don't deserve to disappear into the aether that is the concert dance world, never to be heard from again.

Not that Step Up is doing the dancers any favors in a lot of other ways. I'd really prefer just having choreographers brainstorming dance pieces for film and leave the writers and "character development" out of the process entirely. I mean, if we took all of the plot elements out of Drumline or Stomp The Yard and just had the stunning performance sequences, there'd still be stuff worth watching.

How in the hell did A Haunted House gross 40 mil? That movie was a big ol' bag of unfunny.

  • Fabius_Maximus

  • zeke_the_pig

    Everything involves The Blueprint

I want to know that what does it main unnessary squeal ?

  • An unnecessary squeal is when a pig makes noise for no reason.

Step Up All In is so awkward. Why not Step Up All In It or, better yet, Step It All Up In Thar

Step In It: Wipe It Off?

The Bronx Bull AKA Raging Bull 2
    Dumb and Dumber To
    Rio 2

  • Step Up is a national treasure.

  • I was going to say something snide here, but I'm going to be first in line to see 'Rise of an Empire' so I don't really have room to talk.

  • Second in line. My mom is going to be first. Hell, she saw 300 before I did. Loved it too; one of her favorite films. (She also likes The Expendables. Both of them)

  • I like your mom(in a non-offensive and platonic fashion). My mother dislikes going to the movies, and when she does she tends to favor the sort of movies that feature relationship problems and crying about things.

  • My mom is awesome. We go see super heroes and action films and sci fi. She went and saw Prometheus and Avatar. Oh and she loves Star Wars too. And Django Unchained.

  • She did go see all three 'Iron Man' movies and 'The Avengers' but only because of a long-standing fondness for Robert Downey Jr. Other than that she has maintained a super-hero free streak. Her review of 'Avengers' ran thus: "Robert Downey Jr. was excellent, but the rest was too loud and the man who played Loki was too pale and sneaky."

Shadow Recruit is more re-re-boot / new take then sequel to S.o.a.F. More like a prequel to H.f.R.O. Less analyst turned action-er for straight up action-er.

Unnecessary? Sure, but not nearly as 301 or Step Up: 52 Pick Up or most of the movies on the "Most Anticipated 2014 / 2015" lists.
