In Pictures: Why So Serious?

By Dustin Rowles | Seriously Random Lists | July 19, 2012 | Comments ()

The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters tomorrow (or tonight, for those of you obviously without kids who are insane enough to watch a 3 hour movie at midnight), and it has the feel of a holiday. How many people are taking half a day off to go see it? How many are taking the full day off? How many already have your tickets? Quite a few of you, I understand, as The Dark Knight Rises has already sold $25 million in advance tickets. Our review will be up tonight, and I encourage you all to come back and leave your thoughts after you've seen the film, whether you ultimately agree with Dan or not. But please don't leave any death threats. That ain't cool, bro. It's a movie. Nobody killed your pet and urinated in your breakfast cereal. It's a movie we can't wait to see; this is what we live for, y'all.

It's been a heavy week, with "Breaking Bad" returning, The Dark Knight Rises arriving tomorrow, the Emmy nominations today, and all those awful things happening in 2010 on "Newsroom." So I encourage you all to ease back, get some perspective, and don't take everything so goddamn seriously.

This little pictorial ought to help your transition into the afternoon and on to tomorrow.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • Tim

How tragically ironic this article and these posts all seem now.
Almost as if someone with a twisted sense of humor had put this up after the fact.

  • special snowflake

    Yes, irony sucks.

  • kirbyjay

It's ok Dustin, I love adorable Obama pics, shows he's human. Bet you'll never find a goofy pic of Mittens unless he's counting his cash.
Though I will not be seeing The Dark Knight Rises in the theater, or probably ever, I want to wish all of you a Happy Batman Day and hope you love the flick. Me, I'm waiting for The Bourne Legacy. I only go to the movies when it's something I can't wait to see. Jeremy Renner is it this year.

  • zeke_the_pig

The Burn After Reading gif makes zeke very very happy.
Pitt's been attached to some great projects before, and he'll probably be attached to some great ones in the future, but the single best thing he's ever been attached to is that haircut.

  • Kip Hackman

I want to add this post to my five freebies. It's okay, I didn't laminate it or anything.

  • Uriah_Creep

Jennifer Lawrence playing with her action figures just slays me. I wish I had an action figure based on me...

  • Cody M.

Fuck me running, Does Obama have to be in every single one of these Hollywood faces posts? Just... wondering.

  • McSquish

Mmmm...can I be the banana slices in that Paul and Adam fluffernutter?

  • junierizzle

I'm seeing it tomorrow morning. Midnight and 3AM sold out. I haven't read any full reviews, just first or last paragraphs and or letter grades. Overall the reviews have been positive. And the negative ones seem to be going out of there way to find flaws. But we'll all see eventually.

  • TK the Other (de-lurking)

I'm heading to the theatre in about a half-hour to see the whole trilogy. Got my candy, big boy diapers, and the wife. All is well.

  • Pookie

Diapers? You mean like that astronaut lady? TK I wouldn’t want to be sitting next to you.

  • Pookie

Rowles I love you, but dude, please stop using Stringer Bell as your go to black guy when you need a black guy. I known that sometimes I bitch and moan about wanting to see more brothers and sisters, but if I see one more picture of Bell I'm going leave pajiba.

On a side note I’m debating whether I should go to the midnight screening of “Dark Knight” and be totally dragging ass at work tomorrow, or take my son with me tomorrow afternoon to see it after I get off from work? I had to bribe my son just to see “Spider Man.” next week I have to take him to see “Brave.”

  • John G.

Have you checked your local theater? All the midnight showings near me sold out in a few minutes. If they're still available, go to that one. It will be the most fun for a kid, with everyone cheering and clapping. It will be the most event like.

  • Pookie

John I’m wiped out, we just got back from seeing “Spider Man” a couple of hours ago. People we’re already coming up to the theater around twelve noon today to buy tickets for tonight’s midnight showing. I’m in Austin and the local Tinsel Town is having a “Batman” marathon, ah to be young again. My son and I will probably go see it tomorrow if I’m not too tired after work.

  • celery

My boyfriend gets to see the midnight premiere but I have to wait 12 days and I'm bitter as hell.

  • Fabius_Maximus

The movie starts next Friday over here. If I see anyone posting spoilers...

  • Rooks

Martin Freeman and George Clooney made my evening.
... that sounds wrong, but it feels totally right....

  • Maguita NYC

I never understood why I had never gotten the George Clooney love and adoration.
    Until today. With that face.

I am of Mediterranean descent, and just realized that George Clooney looks like all my uncles. On triple sides of the families (many-many divorces). The kicker?

Most of them are named Georges. Most of them embarrassing womanizers..

  • Irina

It was really hard to get a pic of Matt Smith making faces, wasn't it? I feel for you.
Waiting for the third Seriously Random List that Dustin writes just so he can end with a pic of Obama. Yesterday it was Cool Obama, today it's Adorable Obama, tomorrow maybe He's-just-an-ordinary-human-like-all-of-you Obama? Polishing his own shoes, taking out the trash, something like that?

  • Sara_Tonin00

I thought the same thing (though not to your ordinary-Obama conclusion)

  • Irina

I'm from a former communist country, I know propaganda when I see it :) And if that's not gonna get me all the downvotes in the world...

  • Stella

Irina, so... what's your take on Obama? Commie-Socialist? I figure if anyone is going to call Obama a socialist it ought to be someone who knows what that looks like...

  • Irina

Obama is awesome, I was talking about Dustin.

  • Bert_McGurt

    1) I'm not even sure it's her, but the bike? The shirt? The jorts? The whimsical straw hat? Gotta be Deschanel.
    3) Eliza Coupe was on Scrubs? I've never been more envious of Elmo than I am right now.

  • Liz

the t-shirt was available on a few months ago.

  • Bedewcrock

That's Elizabeth Olsen. Little sister of the Olsen twins.

  • Bert_McGurt

    Well she sure fooled me.

  • Quorren

"it has the feel of a holiday"

I guess you didn't get the memo. The Dark Knight comes out on my birthday, so yes, it IS a holiday.

I also already called all of your employers, you all get days off tomorrow! You're welcome!

  • DemBones

I am so thrilled that I am insane enough, probably to the detriment of my own health.
