By Joanna Robinson | Seriously Random Lists | June 18, 2013 | Comments ()

A by no means comprehensive but nonetheless loving tribute to the double threats who make our TVs a brighter place.

Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine and Anders Holm -- "Workaholics"

Mindy Kaling, BJ Novak and Paul Lieberstein -- "The Office"

Mark McKinney and Susan Coyne -- "Slings & Arrows"

Louis CK -- "Louie"

Charlie Day, Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton -- "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"

Nick Kroll, Jonathan Lajoie and Paul Scheer -- "The League"

Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen -- "Portlandia"

Ike Barinholtz and Mindy Kaling -- "The Mindy Project"

Jason Gann -- "Wilfred"

Oh, you're including Mindy. As a warning, or what?

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

It strikes me as weird that dramas don't ever really have their actors writing the show. Some directing, sure, and they always end up "producers" eventually, but it's rare as hell for them to write.

  • the dude

Jason Gann is awesome, and so is Wilfred! It's a shame more people don't watch it.

  • Sara_Tonin00

The levels of disgust and bewilderment as my 70 year old parents tried to explain the show (they watched the first American episode) was priceless.

  • pumpkin

What I love about the Sunny photo is that it makes Charlie Day look like the most handsome of the three (I'm not saying he isn't, just that he's not supposed to be).

  • John G.

I miss It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia so much I want to cry.

    How's this for childish, bro?

    Tina Fey on 30 Rock?

I didn't get why the mix of mostly current shows with Slings & Arrows tacked on, but to include past shows: Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Larry Sanders Show, The Cosby Show, South Park, and Roseanne at least.

It's so hard for me to embrace BJ Novak's admirable efforts as a writer, etc on The Office because Ryan is sofa king douchbaggy on that show. I hate him so much. Novak must be a really good writer to make his character such a nob. Which means he is a great writer. Or a great actor. Or just lucky. But I still hate that douchey face.

  • Daniel Lewis

Yeah, I bumped into him once in LA and he couldn't have been nicer

  • Yossarian

The notable omission of Lena Dunham and your continued refusal to fully embrace GIRLS because of it's many previously discussed flaws

  • Mrs. Julien

You, sir, are what is known in the Canadian argot as a "shit disturber".

  • Enarra

Wait a sec, that's a Canadian term?! Wow. (note: I am Canadian, and I use that term)

  • Jo 'Mama' Besser

News to this Canadian, as well.

  • competitivenonfiction

I'm Canadian too and thought exactly the same thing? Why hasn't this caught on? It's such a wonderful term!

  • Mrs. Julien

Warning: Do not confuse "screwing the pooch" (American) with "fu*king the dog" (Canadian). They mean entirely different things.

  • competitivenonfiction

What does "screwing the pooch" mean?

  • Mrs. Julien

    It means messing up.

Don't forget John Oliver who is a writer on the Daily Show

  • e jerry powell

But it's still "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart," no matter who's actually sitting at the desk.

  • mairimba

That makes me love Morgan even more!

  • Lemon_Poundcake

Me too! No idea he's one of the writers.

  • ht
