Because the Universe is trying to kill us, both "Doctor Who" and "Game of Thrones" will be returning this weekend. My poor fragile nerd heart cannot take the strain. HBO's fleshier flashier show is getting all the attention but don't forget all the BBC has to offer! A new companion! Look how shiny she is! She was fabulous in her two episodes this year and I'm so hoping she continues impress. So, yeah, dust off your fezes and straighten you bow ties you clever boys and girl, he's back.

Because He's The Best

And Also The Worst

Because I Already Love Soufflé Girl More Than I Loved The Girl Who Waited

Because The Reports Of His Eyebrowlessness Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

Because Of His Hair

Because Of Her Hair

Because Of Them Legs

And I Guess These Too

Because The Doctor Lies

And He Cries

Because Of The Way They Flirt

Because Who Doesn't Love That Macklemore Song?

Because Eat Your Heart Out, "Mad Men"

Because Sometimes He's Too Silly

And Sometimes It's Too Sad

Because He's Got A New Coat

And Because They're Just As Charming In Real Life

5 Shows After Dark 3/26/13 | Mindhole Blowers: What The Male Cast of "Game of Thrones" Looks Like Without Facial Hair

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

I am already looking forward to this new companion. Amy who?

  • She's already kicked Amy's ass a thousand times over.

  • Hoorah! For the new coat. That's a spiffy new outfit he's got.

Moffat apparently hired Coleman because she was the only one who could out talk / talk faster then Matt Smith.

  • theotherone

    Stupid HTML.

Holy cow that bra is huge. I mean, is it even a bra? Is this an English thing? Are American bras tiny? Is this part of the Mad Men shoot?

  • toblerone

    I think it's warranted.

  • chanohack

    I really like boobies.

  • Lauren_Lauren

*skips around the room in giddy excitement*

  • Lauren_Lauren

Oh nooooo I have an Easter dinner Sunday night. What is the politest way to excuse oneself so you can go watch television? Is it running out the door shrieking about zeitgeists and ravens?

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

Don't tell them it's television. Just bellow something about a Nestene incursion and run out the door with an egg beater. You will probably have just enough time to watch Who before the men in white coats arrive for you.

  • APOCooter

I don't watch Dr. Who, but I might have to start. It's still early, but Jenna-Louise Coleman is in strong contention for the five freebies this year.

  • Yes, but what about those dimples mid-coitus? I just don't know if that cute-ness works with the sweaty. Please get back to me when you know....

  • LaineyBobainey

JLC has lovely shiny hair and I find her delightful. I hope she stays delightful and doesn't turn into a Pond-like annoyance.

What an exciting weekend I have planned. Who and Thrones, listening to more of the "Neverwhere" program, and then seeing gorgeous Shirley Manson and Garbage on Sunday, and ending with a vacation day on Monday. *sigh* My heart. It is full.

  • JenVegas

I thought TV was my friend but then it decided to make ALL OF THE THINGS happen all at once this Sunday - Walking Dead season finale, Doctor Who opener, GoT opener, Orphan Black ANNNNNNNNND my stupid ol' grumpy, doesn't believe in fiction or Santa Claus, Father-In-Law is staying with us this weekend for Easter (because yes, he does believe in Jesus and visiting his grandson.) SIGH. SIIIIIIGH!! I don't know if I have enough DVR to DVR all of the things that need DVRing. (dvr)...Sorry, i just needed to get that out. TV I really do love you, don't ever leave me.

  • Dan Pants

    Gosling is canadian

  • Greg French

    That's the joke.

  • Fabius_Maximus

    Godsdammit, Disqus!

  • Candee

  • Jenna Louise Coleman's beauty restores some of my faith in the world. She almost makes me think that Scalia and some on the court won't be bigots or too cowardly to make a sweeping decision about the gay marriage cases they're hearing today.

  • Fabius_Maximus

Joanna, you know that header pic is a fake, right?

    Edit: Thanks for changing it.

  • zeke_the_pig

Still say he looks a bit like an amused toad....

  • Alllllll hail the hypnotoad

  • I desperately hope the promise Jenna Louise Coleman has shown as the various Oswins (Oswi?) can be lived up to. It's going to be down to a combination of her talent and charm (sold on the charm already) as an actor and how good the team writes her without getting too tangled up in the kind of things they did with Amy and the River back story.

We all hope, I think, for a combination of the heart of Rose and the pathos of Donna's dad.

  • chanohack

YOU MEAN GRANDDAD. That said, yes, I do love him. So.

  • Yes. My bad.

  • I think I am the only one not in love with the new companion. I mean, I like her. But do I love her more than the delightful Ponds? Bite your tongue.

  • Milly

Quirky fact that I enjoyed about the episode where he was a flat mate and playing for a pub team; he's wearing adidas copa mundial moulded stud boots.

They were THE boot (alongside the studded version called 'world cup') when I was growing up and are a bit of a connoisseurs choice (like snake juice) since they are simple yet amazing.

And this was probably a legacy of Mr Smith's promise as a footballer as he was on trial or on the books at Leicester City.

  • BWeaves

Somebody PLEASE tell Matt Smith to quit wearing those thin, v-neck T-shirts. Ugh! They are awful.

Unfortunately, the Mad Men shoot is just as awful. EARS.

  • Thank you on the t-shirts. Ew.

  • brittaisthebest

Thank you! I love Matt Smith, but he should never wear his hair slicked back.

  • DarthCorleone

  • Tinkerville

  • Deidra

    Because we don't get HBO.

And because, given the depth and the history of the show we're talking about, more than half your reasons should be far more substantive that how either of them look.

  • Ian Fay

The new BBC america show Orphan Black is on that night, as well.

    Looks pretty good.

  • SchmidtUltra

Oh how I will miss the girl who waited...
