8 Movies You May Not Have Realized Featured January Jones

You know how, when revisiting a certain movie you haven’t seen in years, you notice background and supporting characters that you didn’t notice before because they’re famous now? I recently watched Singles again — a movie I’d seen a dozen times — and had completely forgotten that Jim True Frost (Pryzbylewski from “The Wire”) and Paul Giamatti had recognizable roles in it. Someone should come up with a name for this phenomenon. We’ll call it the “She was in that” phenomenon.

Today, as I was researching a list I’m working on for later today, I stumbled upon January Jones’ IMDb profile and had quite a few She was in that moments myself. Before she Betty Draper (and Emma Frost), January Jones bounced around Hollywood with quite a few supporting roles. Many in movies that I’d seen and had no recollection of until stills from the films jogged my memory. Here are 8 Films that I’d completely forgotten Jones was in.

Man when y'all hate on someone it's a full time job.

She's really pretty but so forgettable. Kinda weird.

Posted by: snapnhiss at June 14, 2011 3:06 PM

Who?

Posted by: googergieger at June 14, 2011 3:08 PM

I don't hate her, really... I'm just aggressively indifferent.

Posted by: firedmyass at June 14, 2011 3:16 PM

I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!

Posted by: junierizzle at June 14, 2011 3:16 PM

O ..... kay.

Thought she was terrible in X-men. She mumbled each line like some lazy redneck. Emma white should be crisp and stingy, not dull and filled with tired.

It's my only experience with her thus far.

Of those "She was in that?" movies, the only one I've seen is Pirate Radio, and as much as enjoyed it, I seem to remember spending most of my time watching it wishing that Katherine Parkinson would take her damn sweater off.

Wait...she smiles?!

I call bullshit, Pajiba! I've had scientific experts scouring the collected histories of time, and they've failed to find ONE instance of mirth or charisma displayed on this woman's face.

Though, to be fair, by "scientific experts" I mean the Googles. Oh Google...you murdering bastard, YOU'VE BETRAYED ME AGAIN!

At *other* movie forums, they're already discussing who will replace J.J. McFunbags as Ms. Frost in the next X-men romp.

If only we should be so lucky...

Finally got to the cine to see First Class last night, and boy, did she just suck all the life off the screen whenever she was on it. What is up with that? Is that her true mutant power?

Posted by: Drake at June 14, 2011 3:53 PM

Did she even have a line in Love Actually? May she go back to having less lines than Denise Richards.

Posted by: Three-nineteen at June 14, 2011 3:58 PM

SHE DOES NOT DESERVE CHRIS O'DOWD. GRRR.

Posted by: DominaNefret at June 14, 2011 4:18 PM

She has such a forgettable face. Three Burials is the only one of these movies I've seen and frankly I didn't know she was a "name" actress to begin with.

Posted by: elsie at June 14, 2011 4:19 PM

I thought she was actually pretty good in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. And wow, I too had totally forgotten that she was in Pirate Radio and Love, Actually.

Posted by: Amanda6 at June 14, 2011 4:23 PM

i agree with Amanda6

Posted by: carrie at June 14, 2011 4:32 PM

Oh come on. You expect anyone to have actually seen some straight to video Dirty Dancing sequel?

Posted by: space oddity at June 14, 2011 4:38 PM

Is that the same chick she's hanging out with in Love Actually and Anger Management? Weird.

Posted by: dagnabbit at June 14, 2011 4:50 PM

Found out she was in American wedding this weekend when watching it early Sunday on TBS while folding laundry.

Posted by: Brian at June 14, 2011 5:01 PM

I think she's supremely pretty and really memorable in Love Actually. But then again, I love that movie. She flutters her eyelashes really aggressively and i remember in the LA commentary, Hugh Grant said something along the lines of, "I really like what the blonde is doing with her eyes."

/don't judge me.

'January Jones bounced around Hollywood'

HAH!

Posted by: zeke the pig at June 14, 2011 5:25 PM

Remember when Aston Kutcher was dating her and told her that she was a terrible actress? I hate to admit that I agree with anything Kutcher says, but geez.

Posted by: BWeaves at June 14, 2011 5:40 PM

I'm honestly beginning to think that she's just stuck in "Mad Men" mode at the moment.

I'm hoping that will wear off and we might see if she has some actual talent.

Posted by: DeistBrawler at June 14, 2011 6:38 PM

I could swear there were parts of X-Men: First Class where there was supposed to be someone delivering lines but for the life of me I couldn't figure out which piece of furniture was doing it. I thought it was some sort of chandelier. Was it this person here? You're telling me she was in X-Men? REALLY?

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at June 14, 2011 8:27 PM

I remember her in American Wedding because it was the first film I ever saw her in and I remember thinking "Good Lord, this girl's acting is terrible". I was actually naive enough to think she'd just fade away after that.

Posted by: Even Stevens at June 14, 2011 11:58 PM

That scene you capped from The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada is really one of the creepiest sex scenes I've seen on film. It clearly stayed with me, but I can't remember if it was good for the story or not.

The only reason I knew she was in The Boat That Rocked is because I love that movie (asides from her).

Posted by: Shane at June 15, 2011 2:38 AM

I know I am too late, but just had to say that I am thrilled she was in Love Actually. So was Denise Richards who was in Wild Things with Kevin Bacon. So now everyone in X-Men is now two steps away from Kevin Bacon. That is really going to help up my game.

Posted by: Morgan LaFai at June 15, 2011 4:02 AM

Am I missing something, or isn't everyone in the X-Men movie with January Jones and Kevin Bacon one step away from Kevin Bacon?

Posted by: MM at June 15, 2011 4:29 AM

Sigh. January Jones. I really loved her on Mad Men and thought she was a great break-out talent. And then I started seeing her in things outside of Mad Men and was totally proven wrong. She's so wooden which I think actually really works in the role of Betty Draper but totally bombs every where else.

Posted by: SassafrassGreen at June 15, 2011 8:53 AM

I haven't seen any of these movies, so the only thing this confirms for me is that I have NO idea what she looks like. No matter how many pictures I see, I will never recognize her.

Posted by: SaBrina at June 15, 2011 2:53 PM

I have seen none of those movies and I still don't know who the fuck this girl is, or why anyone gives a shit (in general) that she's preggers.
