25 Adorable Gay Wedding Photos to Celebrate Last Night's Same-Sex Marriage Victories

I have vowed to try and avoid discussing politics as much as possible today because I know how everyone must be absolutely ill with it, ready to move back to pop-culture normalcy, back to the way things were, which is paying attention to Lindsay Lohan’s legal troubles. But this isn’t about politics. It’s about people. It’s about humanity. It’s about love.
In fact, as Slate reports, the victory of same-sex marriage in four states last night, had everything to do with love. Gay rights advocates changed their argument from one of rights and benefits to one of love, and that seemed to make all the difference.
My home state of Maine was the first to announce victory for same-sex marriage rights, just two years after our state rejected the rights of gays and lesbians to marry. A huge debt is owed to Mainers United for Marriage and the thousands of volunteers, who have been working on the issue basically since the day after it was last defeated. I know they put a lot of effort into it because they knocked on my door at least 12 times in the last year and a half, and made damn near weekly phone calls. I’m certain the same effort and dedication was put forth by the people of Maryland, Washington, and Minnesota, who also had victories last night for same-sex marriage. (The first three states voted to allow gay marriage, while Minnesota voted against a ban on gay marriage).
It’s a great day, folks; obviously, more needs to be done, but last night, the pendulum swung back our way, and there are more places in America where people who love each other can legally dedicate their lives to each other, and there’s nothing more adorable than two people in love, no matter their sexual orientation.
