Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • Andrew

Her name's Mädchen? That's German for 'girl'. What did they name their dog?

  • Uriah_Creep

    "Hund", obviously.

  • Andrew

Right. And let's name our moon 'Luna' and our sun 'Sol'.

  • e jerry powell

I ♥ Swingtown. And Mark Valley was LOVELY. Especially that episode with the extra-special key party where I got EVERYONE'S keys.

  • Jeff Stiefer

you cant put Judy Greer on the list and not mention Arrested Development or Archer!??!

  • foolsage

Both of those series are still running (or have a movie in the works), though AD was cancelled for a while.

  • oilybohunk7

    Judy Greer still has Archer.

  • Semilitterate

The first season of Human Target was OK, after that not so much, but I don't think you can blame Mike Valley. I think it was the lousy plotlines.

  • zyzzyva

Hoping Madchen Amick can break her streak with the Witches of East End. Soapy, yes, but I'm so enjoying it.

  • loo shag brolley

She's easily the best thing about that show, and yeah that's not saying a lot, but she KILLS it every damn time. I've almost completely forgotten about Sherry Gilmore.

  • RilesSD

To be fair, The Unit did have a good 4 season run. I am still mourning it though, so I guess I'll blame Glau.

  • The "some reason": Most of these shows were crap.

  • Rocabarra

I think Judy Greer never stays around very long just so that she can leave the set after the last filming and yell "SAY GOODBYE TO THESE!" as she walks out.

  • bastich

She should be required by law to do that on every show she leaves.

  • zeke_the_pig

And occasionally a, 'YOU'RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR!'

  • RenoGruber

Oh Lindsay Price. We share a birthday. I'd so buy you a fried ice cream.

  • apsutter

Poor Judy Greer. She deserves better.

  • Scorptilicus

At least Valley had Boston Legal for a while...

  • BWeaves

Nathan Fillion would be on this list if it wasn't for Castle.

  • Guest

Additions: Nora Zethner, Tracie Thoms, Liza Lapira (along with the rest of the D.T.T.B.I.A. 23 crew) and Jay Harrington.

I was so happy when Zethner showed up in Maron and seriously how does Tracie Thoms not have full time employment?

Also Maria Thayer (yes, she attached to Eagleheart whatever that is) and Janet Montgomery.

  • zyzzyva

Loved Liza Lapira on the so-awesome-it-was-obviously-cancelled, but stupidly named, "Traffic Light."

  • Adrienne Marie

Tracie Thoms is awesome. Loved her since Rent and Deathproof.

  • Can we add Arrested Development for Judy Greer? Because clearly that was her fault.

  • JH

Paula Marshall caught the Show Killer virus from Ted McGinley on Sports Night.

  • kushiro -

Naw, she already had a pretty good case of it by then.

  • bastich

I think the universe is just trying to keep Alicia Silverstone's schedule clear for the eventual "Clueless" sequel.

(or a career in porn....either direction is fine by me)

  • Maguita NYC

That mouth-to-mouth feeding YT clip now keeps popping in my head everytime I read Alicia Silverstone's name.

But another made for TV Clueless, maybe Where Are They Now would be amazing!

  • Even Stevens

I was JUST going to say that, all I can think of is her doing momma bird-baby bird weird stuff and... just no, I can't

  • bastich

Don't forget her support of the "Orgasmic Birth" movement....

I don't care -- her Aerosmith videos and nude PETA ad trump everything.

  • lmtj

Blair Underwood always comes to my mind in this category. He's not a bad actor and he's great looking. He may not be able to carry the lead, but a great ensemble is what he needs.

  • Sarah Weissman

Really liked Andrea Anders on Ted. And Judy Greer has guest-starred on EVERYTHING. It's time she gets a nice regular show role or a featured film role..

  • oilybohunk7

She still has Archer, I realize it is only voice work but it is still great.

  • Sarah Weissman

Fair point, but I feel like if H. Jon Benjamin gets two shows, Greer could easily be doing another one AND deserves it.

  • oilybohunk7

I agree with that, I would definitely watch a show with her on it.

  • Maguita NYC

For a long time she had supporting roles in every romcom imaginable. I believe she finally found her niche on the small screen.

Someone should give her a decent show suited to her awesome comedic timing.

  • Guest

Everyone from B.o.T. should be on this list.

  • Welldressed

I was just thinking there needs to be a Think Piece here on Pajiba about shows like Better Off Ted. I was rewatching it on Netflix this week and my first thought was: This show was really ahead of it's time. My second thought was: This show would still get cancelled in today's marketplace and that SUCKS. I guess my question is: Is a great show like Ted really "ahead of it's time" if it's time never seems to come?

  • foolsage

Damn, I miss "Better off Ted". Sigh. Such a witty show!

  • Legally Insignificant

Am I the only one who shipped Phil and Lem?

  • Sarah Weissman

YES. Also the person-detecting episode involving race was one of the smartest humor pieces I've ever seen on the issue.

  • Calvinthebold

Matt LeBlanc (before Friends) cancelled series: TV101, Just the Ten of Us, Top of the Heap, Vinnie and Bobby, Class of 96.
Hang on guys, it just takes one...

  • loo shag brolley

Whenever Just The Ten Of Us gets a mention anywhere in the world, I feel like we should all get a free shot. Of alcohol.

  • bastich

Gods yes. A piece of my heart and loins will always belong to Jamie Luner.

  • Annie Lockyer

Ugh David Walton is the dictionary definition of MY JAM. Dude is so tall and funny and hotter than the face of the sun.

Also Judy Greer was on this little cancelled show you might have heard of called Arrested Development, too.

  • Maguita NYC

Just wanted to tell you your Avatar looks Fierce! Love it.

  • Annie Lockyer

Thanks! That's so kind of you to say!

  • Joe Grunenwald

I like Mark Valley a lot. And Paula Marshall! Jenny the porn star!

  • I always thought Mark Valley could play an awesome "older, weathered" superhero like the Flash (like Affleck is supposed to be in Superman/Batman)

  • koko temur

Aw, "Bent". Still not sure how or why it got murdered by its own network. It was adorable, had Peet and Waton and was very, very well reviewed... So they schedualed the 6 episodes they had in 2 marathon blocks on following evenings? Who does that?

  • Michelle

Yeah, I liked that show as well. I was pretty surprised that something with Amanda Peet didn't receive better treatment.

  • Annie Lockyer

I watched Bent on hulu recently bc I'm a Peet AND Walton superfan and somehow the network promotions department crapped the bed because I didn't even know that show existed when it premiered. The way the network handled all that charisma and adorableness a couple years ago still sticks out in my mind as a perfect example of how network television SUCKS at being television sometimes. Show had so much potential and the network (I want to say NBC? But not sure) just bludgeoned it to death.

  • ViciousTrollop

I remember Snoops! Oh, how I loved that show for three months when I was 14.

  • fribbley

Andrea Anders was one of the best things on Joey, but she really did some great things in Better Off Ted.

Of course, I'm of the opinion that Better Off Ted hardly did anything that wasn't awesome, so she might be benefiting from some overall glow.

  • Uriah_Creep

Every mention of Better Off Ted's cancellation is like a dagger in my heart.

  • Tinkerville

I'm still convinced that some of these people are just plain cursed (looking at you, Summer. Stay away from my shows.) Or, you know, just pick bad projects. Potato, pot-a-to.

Amanda Peet's married to David Benioff of Game of Thrones, so I think she's doing just fine.

  • Joe Grunenwald

Summer Glau's on ARROW right now. I feel like that show's strong enough to withstand her show-killing abilities.

  • Mrs. Julien

And didn't she just direct her first film?

  • Sara_Tonin00

She just wrote a play, as well: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11...

  • Tinkerville

Good for her! I don't think I've ever liked any of her movies, but she's immensely likable and I'm rooting for her.

  • She definitely fits into the category of Women I'm Always Happy to See Show Up on Craig Ferguson. See also: Kristen Bell, Lauren Graham, Angela Kinsey.

  • loo shag brolley

Also fits nicely into the category Seriously, The Good Wife Has The Best Pool Of Guest Stars Ever I'm Never Sad When Any Of Them Show Up.

  • Cosign. Someone desperately needs to get Mamie Gummer a good show to be on.

  • Maguita NYC

I believe there was something about her taking up directing and writing... Must find out.

  • Mrs. Julien

Aren't there a bunch of people like this who finally landed on successful shows? Several of the Friends cast members, Lauren Graham, George Clooney -- help me out here, people.

  • hoppergrass

Indeed, and there are several people who only escaped making this list due to that one successful show - specifically, Matthew Perry, who co-starred with at least three of the people above... coincidence or conspiracy?

  • Legally Insignificant

Charlie Hunnam had quite a few stinkers before SoA. Unrelated, but your comment reminded me, for some reason, of the fact that Willie Aames of Charles in Charge fame went on to be Bible Man.

  • Maguita NYC

    Claire Danes.

  • Maguita NYC

Carla Gugino - Would watch that woman in anything, or out of... Too freaking gorgeous and quite talented. Give the woman her own show already!

  • Professor Sara

I'm still in mourning over the cancellation of both Karen Sisco and Threshold. She picks smart, doomed projects.

  • Maguita NYC

While shit shows like Two and a Half Men just keep getting renewed. I hate stupid people watching stupid teevee!

  • Mrs. Julien

I actually talked about her with Mr. J earlier this week. I don't get it. She's beautiful and talented. We decided she was too sexy and it got in the way of her acting success.

  • zeke_the_pig

    Definitely too sexy.

  • Maguita NYC

I wonder about that at times. She's not the greatest actress, but she tends to have great chemistry even with lesser talents (*cough, Vincent Chase) and is wonderful to watch.

Is it she has bad representation or do people really think her too hot for the screen - big or small.

  • Sarah Weissman

I disagree about her talent. I saw her play the Marilyn Monroe type in an Arthur Miller play and she was superb. Really, really good. Jessica Hecht ("Gretchen Schwartz" was the other female lead. Great performances all around.

  • Maguita NYC

I've never seen her on stage before, thks!

  • Sarah Weissman

Yea, realize not everyone has had the opportunity :)

  • Mrs. Julien

She can actually be very, very good.

  • Maguita NYC

I believe you and Sarah are making the same point: She has Presence on stage.

While personally I still believe she is a good actress, not the greatest, someone should definitely build a project around her!

  • Bert_McGurt

If said project is "Bert's New Bedroom" I'll happily oblige.

  • bastich

The sad part is that, after I read your comment, my first thought was, "Has she been on home improvement shows in the past? How interesting." Many long seconds later, I got the joke.

Don't drink and Pajiba, kids...that's all I'm saying.

  • Samantha Klein

Hey, at least John Cho is recurring on Sleepy Hollow...

  • Lots of pretty people with lots of bad TV between them.

  • Sarah Weissman

Not just pretty, lots of these folks are talented and charming!
