This week the podcast Serial concluded its first season, and their investigation into the case of Hae Min Lee’s death and the conviction of her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed. There were a few hopeful notes in the conclusion regarding the work done by The Innocence Project headed up by Deirdre Enright, and today there’s an interview with her over at Time about the work she and her team are doing and what their beliefs are with regards to Adnan’s case. That doesn’t mean we’ll have new information anytime soon, Enright says that even if they can get approval to get everything tested in the next two weeks it would still take months before they would be able to get to court. She does say they’re not only looking into the serial killer Ronald Lee Moore but also a couple other suspects that she can’t name for legal reasons.

I know a lot of us who listened to the podcast had mixed feelings regarding Adnan, even Sarah Koenig admitted to them, but Enright certainly sounds dedicated to him and his cause. I’ll be following the developments as they come along. Hopefully Deirdre and her team can get some better answers for Lee’s family, for Adnan, and for everyone else who’s concerned that at the very least, due process was not correctly followed in this case.
