In an interview with CNN’s New Day this morning, Kellyanne Conway dismissed business-conflicts concerns about Donald Trump continuing to serve as an executive producer on NBC’s The Apprentice and flicked away any worries that the country might have about Trump spending too much time on the show while he is serving as President.

“Presidents have a right to do things in their spare time.”

Sure, right. Whatever. Presidents can spend their spare time doing anything they want within reason, and I don’t think that many people were seriously concerned with The Apprentice taking up a lot of Trump’s time because 1) the more time he’s not running the country, the better; and 2) Mike Pence is going to do all the day-to-day work anyway.

This is not about that. It’s about conflicts of interests. It’s about concerns that NBC — which has a financial stake in Trump’s success with The Apprentice — might cover him unfairly. It’s about giving Donald Trump even more favorable exposure.

But Conway doesn’t want to address that issue. She does what she does so well, which is to somehow turn it around on Hillary or Obama.

“Were we so concerned about the hours and hours and hours spent on the golf course of the current president? I mean presidents have a right to do things in their spare time, in their leisure time,” Conway argued.

“I heard you object to Mr. Obama playing golf. Will Mr. Trump not be playing golf for the next four years?” host Alisyn Camerota countered.

“Well, maybe he will be,” Conway answered. “It certainly seems like there is a lot of time to do based on recent precedent while you’re President the United States.

OK, first of all, shut the fuck up. Don’t equate playing golf with a sitting President working on a goddamn reality show that follows a group of C-listers trying to sell hot dogs out of a food truck. It’s not the fucking same, and you know it.

Second of all, I’ll remind you, Conway, that the current President has taken fewer than 200 vacation days in 8 years. Meanwhile, his Republican predecessor took 859 vacation days in 8 years. Whatever else you might say about Obama, he shows up.

Meanwhile, Trump may get away with even fewer vacation days, because every day is a vacation when you’re only taking in one intelligence briefing a week while your VP (who takes 6 a week) is running the country, freeing Donald Trump to man his Twitter account, attack private citizens, go to rallies, and make phone calls to world leaders to arrange permits for more Trump Towers.

When Obama leaves office, and Hillary takes up permanent residence in the woods of Chappaqua, who you gonna use to deflect attention away from your boss’s scandals, huh?

Oh, wait, I know exactly who she’s gonna use: Paul Ryan.
