Michael Caine Voted For Brexit Because Some Men Just Want To Watch The World Burn

Et tu, Michael? From an interview with Sky News:

“I voted for Brexit. What it is with me, I’d rather be a poor master than a rich servant,” he said. “It wasn’t about the racism, immigrants or anything, it was about freedom.”

“Politics is always chaotic,” he added. “In politics, you’re always going into areas you’ve never been before, so you’re going to get lost and then you’re going to find your way, and then it’ll be all right.”

Personally I don’t know what he’s complaining about not wanting to be a “rich servant,” when his most famous role to date was exactly that. Was Bruce Wayne not good to you, Mr. Caine? Didn’t you feel like a part of the family? How are you too good for Italy now when you totally retired there at the end of those movies? ALFRED, WHY.

Anyway, speaking as a poor master myself (aka a freelance writer), lemme tell you that it gets old real fast. It’s all well and good blaming your rather austere and strict employer (who I guess is most likely Germany in this metaphor, I suppose?) for all your problems right until they’ve gone and taken all their money with them, and you start to find yourself wondering if eating a bag of microwave popcorn counts as a meal because you’re on deadline and out of ramen noodles. Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything.

This isn’t the first time Michael’s been skeptical of the EU, telling the BBC a few months before the referendum that he didn’t like the idea of ‘being dictated to by thousands of faceless bureaucrats.’ Aw man, guys, remember faceless bureaucrats? Remember when you didn’t know the names of every single incompetent member of government because there were so many of them and they were so reasonably unterrible at their jobs? Such sweet, sweet summer children we all were. Anyway, what else is Devin Nunes up to this morning?
