You Are Not Emotionally Prepared for This Pro-Black Lives Matter, Pro-Obama Glenn Beck Interview

Apologies for any typos. It’s hard to hit the right keys with my jaw in the way.

Glenn Beck did an interview with the New Yorker. After several months of saying uncharacteristically non-garbage things, none of which in the least bit make up for a career’s worth of VERY garbage things, this is shocking. This is mind-blowing. This is…I genuinely don’t know what this is. It might be a pod person.

First, he credits Michelle Obama with saying something that actually managed to hit him right in the steaming viscous ooze in his chest cavity where a normal person’s heart would be.

The First Lady ripped into Trump’s comments, calling them “disgraceful” and “intolerable,” and adding, “It doesn’t matter what party you belong to—Democrat, Republican, Independent—no woman deserves to be treated this way.” Beck was mesmerized. On his radio program that day, he heralded Obama’s remarks as “the most effective political speech I have heard since Ronald Reagan.”

“Those words hit me where I live,” Beck said the other day. He was speedwalking up Eighth Avenue with his wife, son, and daughter, all in from Toronto. “If you’re a decent human being, those words were dead on.”

What? How? A woman whose experience he has mocked and whose husband he has relentlessly attacked campaigning on behalf of woman he once called “a stereotypical bitch” actually made him think thoughts?

If that confuses you, buckle the fuck up for this one.

“I did a lot of freaking out about Barack Obama.” But, he said, “Obama made me a better man.” He regrets calling the President a racist and counts himself a Black Lives Matter supporter. “There are things unique to the African-American experience that I cannot relate to,” he said. “I had to listen to them.”

Glenn Beck…considers himself a Black Lives Matter supporter.

This is a weird fucking year.

Beck has bodyguards now and routinely receives death threats from his alt-right former followers who consider him a traitor. Because not a single one of these people understands in the slightest bit the role they have played in igniting the nation’s worst shitsacks, and now they’re all “huh, weird.”

Beck, for whatever reason and to whatever desired end, is coming around. Do more follow? Are there more traitors to come?
