What, Are You Lactose Intolerant? Snack On Some Brie

Happy Friday my little Road Warriors, as I stare across the barren wasteland that is the internet landscape this morning I wonder, where have all the good links gone? It’s barrel scrapings for us today, I’m afraid. Perhaps everyone is busy marinating their wings and layering their dips? Seems a bit premature. Well, here they are, the tastiest scraps I could scrounge.

[ETA] Whoa, my little men and women of constant sorrow. After I published today’s column I found this link which might be the coolest thing I have seen on the internet all week. Did you know Pappy O’Daniel was a real person? Well he was and he is just one of a host of Coen Brothers characters on this magnificent, sprawling infographic. Feast your eyes. (Fast Co. Design)

Good god, woman, do you have, like, a rare allergy to cotton and denim and silk and satin? Click to see the oh-so-infrequent site of Olivia Wilde nearly nude. (Socialitelife)

How long is too long for a hug? Do you endorse Kenneth Parcell’s ten second rule? Science Mag says most people get uncomfortable after three. (Science Mag)

Okay, I actually may now be on board with the new Starbucks Trenta size. (Laughing Squid)

Honestly, it’s a sad news day when Charlie Sheen is the voice of reason. (SF Gate)

This is pretty nifty, and many thanks to the lovely Mrs. Julien for sending it my way. Project Gutenberg has over 33,000 free books available for download to your electronic reader of choice. These are older titles that are free because their copyright has expired so you won’t find “Twilight.” You can, however, find Dickens, Austen, Melville, etc. The most popular download? Why, the “Kama Sutra,” of course. (Gutenberg)

For those of you who don’t care to partake of that slice of Brie cheese, may I interest you in some HAAAAMMMM? Did you know that he worked in soft-core porn, figs? (Celebitchy)

Thanks to Replica and the folks at Sony Pictures, you can spend the rest of your work day streaming The Social Network soundtrack at your desk. Say what you will about the film, Trent Reznor’s soundtrack is easy on the ears. (Sony Pictures)

I’m about to put forth an unpopular opinion. I find Russell Brand to be utterly charming. Does he look like he has, all the STDs? Yes. Does he have horrible taste in pop star wives? You bet. But he gave an interview last October that won me over entirely. His book is a great read and even here, where he compares smooching Jennifer Garner to eating red velvet cake, I find I am completely delighted by him. (Evil Beet Gossip)

Hey! “The Walking Dead” may come lumbering back onto your screens earlier than expected! (Warming Glow)

If this is the case, I know what I’ll be snacking on during the premiere. (Living With Bloodlust)

Check out this stellar(!) flow chart to find out which Star Wars occupation you are best suited for. I got…Ewok Chief. Yup, that sounds about right for a hippie girl from California. Cue the music…Jub Jub. (io9)

And, speaking of dancing. Have you ever wondered what your Link Wench looks like when she cuts a rug? You have, haven’t you? It keeps you awake nights. Well, wonder no longer because this glorious man is about as close as it gets.

Yesterday some people called into question the delectability of the lethally cute Alison Brie. In case you didn’t watch Community last night, here she is, in all her doe-eyed glory, engaging in some seduction, D&D style. If you saw this clip already, you might be interested in a behind the scenes video which involves some of the dialogue sans music. If you’re impatient, skip to 1:40. Click here to enjoy!

Dude, totally with you on the Russel Brand thing. I'm utterly charmed by him for some reason and I seriously don't know why.

Sith Apprentice here. And my lightsaber is pointing at you, Annie's boobs (not to be mistaken with Annie's Boobs. I'm an apprentice, not Darth Tyranus, for crying out loud).

If you're a fan of Russell Brand I highly recommend checking out his hilarious appearance on the Brit show Have I Got News For You. I wasn't really won over by him until I saw it:

Joanna - I share your unpopular like of one Russel Brand. I heard a very charming interview with him on Fresh Air a year or so ago, and it totally won me over. I hope to get around to reading his Booky Wook at some point.

DAMN YOU HULU! Sometimes I get a big ole hate-on for Canada's lack of good streaming.

Posted by: Marcela at February 4, 2011 1:54 PM

Allison Brie miming flopping her huge member on the table ala Milton Berle has given me the most confusing boner ever.

Posted by: The Mutt at February 4, 2011 1:55 PM

Eh, I read both his books, and he actually went down in my estimation, although I didn't hate him to begin with. (My kid's a huge fan, that's why I even bothered to read the second one). I just get the feeling that there's something deep down broken in him.

Does Jon Hamm have a large set of keys in his pocket in each of those pictures, or am I one very happy lady? That man is too much. *swoon*

Posted by: katy at February 4, 2011 2:17 PM

That WAS glorious dancing. Did I see the lady pull out a lighter for the line, "Wanna feel the heat of somebody"? Choreography for the win!

Posted by: spljt at February 4, 2011 3:48 PM

Dear Katy: Jon Hamm does not carry keys. There is no room for keys in his pants pockets. He goes commando, and the Hammster is looooooooooose!

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMM!

Well, obvs I knew.

Thanks! Listening now at work! How do you know what I always want?

Posted by: denesteak at February 4, 2011 5:07 PM

Also, Community rocked last night. Fucking awesome after a lackluster last two weeks.

I am a Bounty Hunter... and I'm probably a little too fine with that.

"I find Russell Brand to be utterly charming."

Aaaah... Explains so much about the state of Pajiba Love lately.

Posted by: scott at February 4, 2011 6:17 PM

I'm a Jedi Knight. I will now go gloat about my remarkable achievement to everyone I know.

Posted by: AbbyNormal at February 4, 2011 7:16 PM

scott, if by "the state of Pajiba Love" you mean "AWESOME," then I totally agree - Joanna does a great job with this column and everything else, even if I wouldn't get near her on the dance floor.

Posted by: abliac at February 4, 2011 7:37 PM

HAAAAAAMMMM?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess this wasn't a reference to one of my favorite episodes of Faerie Tale Theatre.

But I can pretend it was, because I'm dorky like that.

If I ever decide to stalk someone, it's going to be Alison Brie. I would let Rick Moranis shrink me so I could live inside her underwear drawer.

Posted by: wonderbreadhead at February 5, 2011 3:36 AM

Must I wish death upon Hulu, despite it not being a living thing, every fucking day? What can I wish for, a server explosion? Every fucking day. Stop being cunts.

If I ever decide to stalk someone, it's going to be Alison Brie. I would let Rick Moranis shrink me so I could live inside her underwear drawer.

Yeah, I fixed that to reflect my particular tastes perversion.

Posted by: Uriah Creep at February 5, 2011 6:59 AM

I'll allow it.

Posted by: wonderbreadhead at February 5, 2011 7:03 AM

I concur on having a very confused erect member, re: Alison Brie's impeccable skills of silent mimicry.

It's also confusing that the issue of FHM with Olivia Wilde is now news because it dropped like over a year ago. I bought the issue then, and still have it. Obviously.

Posted by: RobP at February 5, 2011 11:38 AM

Olivia, honey, nobody is entranced (much) by your little boobies. Not that I mind, but it's your eyes that made you a ... well, "star" is too lofty a word. You owe your career to your eyes, like Julia Roberts owes her career to her teeth. You have astonishing eyes (even though they're not the best eyes ever, those belong to this girl: www.dailyonlinenews.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/afghan-girl.jpg )

I bring this up because you seem a little confused, is all. There are much more interesting boobies to look at than yours and they're all over the Internet, so you can put yours away once in awhile and really, nobody will much mind and you'll still go on working, or whatever it is you're doing. I mean, you still get a credit on "House" even though you haven't been on for what now, a year? And you were in that Russell Crowe movie for maybe 33 seconds.

But I still love you. Every other day. For about two minutes in the shower.

What I'm saying is, it's a good life you have, honey, incongruous with your apparent flaming need for attention.

The word for the day is "overexposure."

Posted by: , at February 5, 2011 11:56 AM

If you're right, RobP, and lord knows I'm not going to quibble with ya when it comes to topless Olivia Wilde, it looks like they're recycling those photos for a French "FHM" edition.

So, you're right, it's not new news, it's nouvelles nouvelles.

1. I think our Link Wench is doing a fantastic job and I love her writing style, so scott must mean that the state of Pajiba Love is fabulous.
2. I also share in the Russell Brand love...always have.
3. The Social Network site is really confusing me. I have the album and those are definitely not the titles on the album, but they are the correct songs. I am assuming those are scene titles on the site?
4. Thursday's Community was epic. I was immediately reminded of playing D&D (for the first and only time) with my younger bro and his friends while drinking tons of mountain dew and eating Doritos. I also had to eat crow and admit that it actually was pretty damn fun.
