Take Kate Beckinsale's Underworld Outfit, Add A Few Zombie Bites And You've Got Milla's New Resident Evil Look

Happy Friday everyone! Does your wardrobe need a sprucing? Well Gwyneth Paltrow, that amiable and exquisitely attired globule of mayo, has some new totally reasonably priced clothing. And they come in all sizes!* (Celebitchy)
*8 and under

Yesterday I told you about Frank Ocean coming out of the closet and how it was a Big Deal. (I then went into work and called him Kevin Ocean proving myself to be whiter than GOOP.) Our very own Caspar has some ideas on how Ocean's future should look. (Dummy)

I bet you didn't know there was a Shed Of The Year contest. Well there is. And while it might not be Frank Ocean Big Deal, I kind of want to live inside this year's winner. It's all Hobbit-y and filled with lovely booze. (Neatorama)

However I don't think I could live inside Poland's famed Crooked House. Particularly not if booze were involved. (Laughing Squid)

Speaking of booz-a-hol, this handy little map has broken down our country into areas that tweet about beer and areas that tweet about God. As you might expect, America's Phallus (aka Florida) and its surrounding areas are very pious. (Floating Sheep)

Speaking of godliness, I was watching Angels and Demons last night. (Why? Because I was out drinking and tweeting about beer and came home and it was on, OKAY??) Anyway, through some weird bit of synchronicity, the Higgs boson or "God Particle" plays an integral role in the plot. But did you know, Camerlengo Ewan McGregor, that "god particle" is short for "goddamn particle?" Read this and other interesting factoids in The Telegraph's interview with Higgs himself. (The Telegraph)

Someone has made an All-Bacon Burger. My heart seized up just typing that. (Boing Boing)

And, um, totally unrelated, here are some fantastic Mad Men action figures including, oh yes, Fat Betty Francis (bam a lam). The accessories are killer. (The Curious Brain)

Not content to let Katie Holmes have center stage this week, the Crying Dawson Meme is back with some uniquely 90s problems. (Uproxx)

We were just discussing this past week on The /Filmcast that the AOL dial-up sound that is so prevalent in Nora Ephron's You've Got Mail is one of those nostalgic sounds of tech gone-by. Here are a few more to set your elderly heart a-flutter. (Unreality)

Comic-Con is right around the corner and to get you in the mood here are some rad Ladies of Galactica posters. I want the Starbuck one with all my nerdy heart. (Qmx)

Though many will go see Resident Evil for Milla's peek-a-boo zombie fightin' outfit, I'm mostly excited for Kevin Durand. Here a slew of new images. (Film Drunk)

And if you havent' had enough geek in your week, here's a double dose with this Season One "Game Of Thrones" duel done with light sabers. Get him, Ned!

Finally (finally!), someone mentioned in yesterday's comments that this video belongs in Pajiba Love. Right you are. Alcohol, ennui and "Doctor Who"? It's practically cannon. Enjoy this conversation between filmmaker Jeremiah McDonald and his younger self. It's delightfully timey-wimey.

I live in a rural area and still had to settle for dial-up YEARS after broadband started becoming available. The sound of a dial-up modem connecting fills me with RAGE, not nostalgia.

  • mdm

I actually consider it a failing of the fight choreographer if a swordfight with physical blades can be rejiggered with special effects into a lightsaber duel. But I'm a bit of a dork that way.

  • kee80

I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one who gets excited for Kevin Durand. Hooray!

  • I finally got around to watching RE: Afterlife last night and I was surprised how much I liked it. Actually looking forward to RE: Retribution now. Pure fluff but it is at least engaging fluff. And I love Milla's super-serious gravelly voice and actors attempting to emote amidst the CG carnage and gunfire. Losing battle for them, but good times for the less discerning audience members.

On another note, the 50/50 burger (half ground sirloin and half ground bacon) is excellent.

Slaters also has a kick-ass beer selection: Bear Republic, Green Flash, Ballast Point, Stone.

Fuck, now I'm hungry. And thirsty.

Jeez, a conversation between 12-year-old me and current me would go very quickly:
q: You still like Star Wars?
    a: Yes.
q: Is Christie Brinkley still hot?
    a: Yah.
    q: You see naked ladies?
    a: Yep.
q: You still drink dad's whiskey when he's not around?
    a: Uh Uh.
q: You a porn star now?
    a: Nope.
    q: Lame.

  • Three_nineteen

Door County, WI tweets more about church than beer because all the beer drinkers there have AT&T, and THERE'S NO FUCKING SIGNAL.

  • Erin S

Kudos to him for being to able not only look at his 12-year-old self, but talk to him.

I prefer to pretend mine never existed.

  • BWeaves

    Agreed.

  • TheOtherGreg

I thought Florida was America's uvula.

  • BWeaves

I live in Florida. It's no uvula. It's more like apron fat.

  • Patty O'Green

RE the beer/church tweet map: you see that one white square in south-east Texas, surrounded by red? I'd like to think that represents my house. After all, God is good, beer is great and people are crazy.

  • John G.

could "pious phallus" be the name of a Christian rock group, or is it too hard on the ears?

  • purplejebus

I always wanted to go with "Baptized Pagans".

  • I've just sent invites to my Freebie Five to spend the next decade in the shed. We'll blend reality TV with magical realism in a uniquely Pajiban way, enabling them to have unlimited resources for producing their own dream projects. I'm sure I'll get a bit part.
