Pajiba Love

Check and mate. Finally, the proof I need to irrefutably win the “Barry Manilow Sucks” argument I’ve been having with my mother for the past 20 years. (QuizLaw)

If you were grasping onto any doubt, now there’s officially almost no reason to dislike the pretty fucking awesome ChloĆ« Sevigny. (Agent Bedhead)

Times like these, it occurs to me that there’s just so, so, so much that I do not understand about this world. (YesButNoButYes)

AUGH! Tyra! Sensory! Overload! (FourFour)

Vanessa Hudgens thinks that starletards who get themselves in trouble are totally stupid, because it’s easy to stay out of those situations and make good decisions. Ahh, the beautiful irony of the pre-taped interview. (Yeeeah!)

I’m such a sucker for relatively obscure and somewhat wittily placed Buffy references. (Galley Slaves)

John William’s reviews and effectively sells me on the 1973 cinematographical masterpiece, The Spirit of the Beehive. (Special Way of Being Afraid)

And the next celebrity to get naked to save the animals is… Alicia Silverstone! (Celebitchy)

GAHHHHHHHH! Remember when the “dumb” one on The View was Debbie Matenopoulos? See how far things have fallen, after the jump.

Look Who's Talking | You Got a Pajiba, Man? It'd Be a Lot Cooler If You Did.

Damn, I wish I hadn't watched that. I think the dumbness seeped through my computer screen and straight into my brain.

Check Wikipedia for Sherri Shepherd. (Don't know how long it will stay that way)

Also, I DID not do that but whoever did is awesome.

Sorry...the wikipedia edit is already gone.

Lord, that was beautiful. I love that in the face of her complacent stupidity (and with the incessant, shrill buzz of Hasselbeck in the background) both Barbara and Whoopi became incoherent idiots. It's contagious, it seems.

I'm going to get booted out of Pajibaland for asking...but what is the big deal with Buffy the Vampire Slayer? There is a ZILLION comments about that show on this website and I just don't get it! That show was pretty bad. OK, realllyyy bad.

re: "Almost no reason to dislike Chloe Sevigny." ALMOST is the operative word here. I don't think I can ever fully forgive her for The Brown Bunny.

Oh yeah, and before anyone rips into me for making fun of ol' Barry, I should probably clarify that his music sucks. I know he was a good sport on Colbert, and publicly dissed Hasslebeck and all that -- so in all actuality he is a pretty cool guy. Awful music, though. Just awful.

From Wikipedia on Sherri:
In the September 19 broadcast, she amended her apparent neutrality on the subject and stated that she is aware of the Earth being round (presumably meaning the traditionally accepted spherical shape of the planet) and that in the previous broadcast she had been too nervous, confused and stupid to answer the question adequately.

Clue in the unenlightened, what did the wiki entry say? My curiosity is killin me.

Posted by: Ellipsis at September 19, 2007 4:33 PM

Damn... missed it by that much. Thanks Mae, your post wasn't up when I asked; I'm not illiterate.

Agent Scully - I'd suggest you start packing your virtual bags! How dare you question the cult mentality of the great and powerful Pajiba?! And where did you get that pseudonymous nom-de-blog? And those shoes?!

Posted by: Sanity Clause at September 19, 2007 5:26 PM

My brow is still furrowed from that View clip. That's all I'm saying on that.

Scully, trust me - you are not alone in your opinion of Buffy. But we must be careful, the fans are a strong, wily, sometimes mean, bunch.

Posted by: Daphne at September 19, 2007 5:41 PM

No no no no no...no no...no no no no. I could only watch about 10 seconds of that clip before my can't-watch-someone-make-an-ass-out-of-themselves meter went through the roof. That was so painful.

Say what you will about Barry, but at least he refused to be on the View, because of Hassellback

Posted by: Withnail at September 19, 2007 6:40 PM

Spirit of the Beehives was utterly fantastic, I also recommend it.

Posted by: Kevin Longrie at September 19, 2007 7:04 PM

who, WHO!!!??? decided Elisabeth Hasselbeck deserved ANY sort of forum?! She is a fucking moron. Whoopi USED to be somewhat respectable, but every single woman who goes on that show turns into a goddamn harpy.

Posted by: Finn at September 19, 2007 7:22 PM

I think it was pretty lame that Barry refused to go on The View. Was he really worried he couldn't hold his own against... Elizabeth Hasselbeck? The girl's not exactly a Rhodes scholar. Basically it boils down to Barry wimping out because he can't handle people with differing opinions. Lame!

Chloƫ Sevigny

Thank you, Pajiba; I had no idea that there were such photos. Mmmmmmmmm. Gotta go.

Posted by: socalledonlycousins at September 19, 2007 9:23 PM

My goodness, socalled, what would the missus say to such things?

Posted by: Vermillion at September 19, 2007 9:43 PM

Okay, I'm clearly alone in actually really liking Barry M. Sure, his stuff's corny, but I think he has a great voice and love that he got his start with Bette Midler in the bathhouses in the 70s. Also, how can one not love "Could It Be Magic?"? C'mon.

There was such a funny interview with him with this jackass hipster. He grew up in Williamsburg in Brooklyn, which is hipster heaven now, and this woman was trying to get him to talk about his kitsch appeal and he basically hung up on her. Some people thought it was assholey behavior on his part, but I thought it was fabulous.
